THE RESORTBorovets was the fi rst Bulgarian winter resort, dating back to 1896. BEGINNERSGreat for beginners, with a high standard of English speaking instruction and gentle nursery slopes, just beside the Rila Complex and three minutes’ walk from the Samokov. The best ski run for absolute beginners is Sitnyakovo 1 (5800m).

INTERMEDIATESBorovets is a good resort for intermediates, with a variety of runs. The well-planned lift system includes the six-person Yastrebets gondola which opens up a wealth of enjoyable runs, ranging from wide sunny boulevards in the Moussala basin, to scenic looping trails through the trees.

ADVANCEDFor the expert skier there is the testing World Cup run, one of the more challenging pistes in the Yastrebets area or the excellent skiing through the trees and o� -piste. For those who want to leave the ground there is plenty of natural hits and rollers.

CROSS COUNTRY35 km cross country skiing terrains are available in the resort, and are designed according to the requirements of the International ski federation.

SNOWBOARDINGBorosport Snow Park is 520m long and has three lanes with di� erent levels of di� culty suitable for both beginners and experts and everyone in between. The park is situated in a side run of “Yastrebetz 3” ski slope and is serviced by “Yastrebetz Express” Quad and features a great variety of kickers, rails and obstacles.

APRES SKIThe night life in Borovets is excellent, full of bars, cafe, night clubs, and discos. Most places stay open to the early morning and o� er good prices and special ‘happy hour’ discounts. Music played is mostly international dance music. Traditional restaurants and taverns may host national folk music and ‘horo’ dancing nights. Mamacita’s and Crown Italian Restaurant are popular restaurants in Borovets. The Buzz bar and Revolution bar & dinner are some of the most preferred places in the resort.

MEDICAL ARRANGEMENTSRound the clock mountain rescue service, ambulance, clinic (with doctor and nurse) plus fi rst aid services on all slopes. X-ray facilities are also available in Borovets and town of Samokov. Please note some medical services must be paid for locally in cash. You will be provided a receipt to enable you to claim back from your insurance once you return to Ireland
