It is hard to believe we are nearing the end of November considering the beautiful weather we’ve been experiencing. I hope you are able to to spend quality time with family and friends next week. If you are looking for a fun family activity this weekend, BMS and RMS students will be presenting Singin' in the Rain Jr., a wonderful adaptation of what has been proclaimed as "the greatest movie musical of all time." Performances will take place: Friday, Nov. 18 - 7:00 pm Saturday, Nov. 19 - 7:00 pm Sunday, Nov. 20 - 4:00 pm (matinee) All performances will take place at the Hudsonville Fine Arts Auditorium on the HHS Freshman Campus. Tickets are $8 and available Vendini, Inc. for advanced seat selection or at the door, each night of the show. We look forward to an excellent performance from our students and wish them all the best this weekend! Looking for a way to get involved in our school? We are looking for a parent to oversee our BMS Science Olympiad team. If you are interested in engaging in a conversation about coaching Science Olympiad this year, please let me know ASAP. Happy (almost) Thanksgiving break! It is hard to believe we are nearing the end of November considering the beautiful weather we’ve been experiencing. I hope you are able to to spend quality time with family and friends next week.

COMMUNITY BULLETIN BOARD

~ THE NUTCRACKER presented by Michigan Ballet Academy and Artistic Director, Nikoloz Makhateli willl be performed Friday, December 2 at 7:30 pm, Saturday, December 3 at 2:30 pm & 7:30 pm, Sunday, December 4 at 2:30 pm, Special Character Tea, Sunday at 1:00 pm. All performances will be held at the Jenison Fine Arts Center. You can purchase tickets at www.MichiganBallet.org. Prices are 2 & under Free | 2-12 $12 | 13 and up $18, Character Tea $10/$15. CHOIR CHAT:

Please mark your calendar for our winter choir concert on Monday, December 5 at 6:30 p.m. This will once again be at the Hudsonville Fine Arts Auditorium - Freshman Campus.

The seventh and eighth grade choirs will be singing the National Anthem at a Grand Rapids Drive game on Friday, December 16. The game will take place at the Delta Plex Arena at 7:00 p.m. Tickets to the game will be available for families to purchase at a reduced rate of $8. Ticket order forms and confirmation slips for participation were sent home and through an e-mail. Please return these to Mrs. Scott by Monday, November 28.

SKI AND SNOWBOARD CLUB

Middle School Ski & Snowboarding Club: Students, siblings and parents interested in purchasing discount ski club cards to Bittersweet Ski Resort in Otsego, should pick up information in the office. These cards allow discounted rates on lift tickets and rentals. Middle School students will also be able to purchase a bus pass allowing for bus rides to bittersweet. Bus trip dates are Monday January 16, Tuesday, January 24 Monday, February 13 and Monday, February 20. Registration is due December 9.

Elementary Ski and Snowboarding Club: The Hudsonville Ski and Board Club would like to invite students, siblings and parents of HPS Elementary Schools to purchase discount ski club cards to Bittersweet Ski Resort in Otsego. These cards allow discounted rates on lift tickets and rentals. Monday is the official HPS club day, and we invite you to bring the family to Bittersweet for some fun with other HPS families. Discount prices are also good everyday of the week after 3:30pm. Pick up information in the office. Registration due December 9.

BAND NOTES:

Our Christmas Concert is fast approaching on December 1st at 8pm at the HFC Auditorium. An email was sent-out late last week with details concerning this concert. If you have questions, concerns, or conflicts please email Mr. Jacobs.

Practice sheets are now due at the beginning of the week for 6th and 7th grade students. There will be a practice requirement next week due to the Christmas Concert falling the week after the holiday. 6th grade will still have a 100 minute requirement and 7th grade a 60 minute requirement.

The Hudsonville Bands Keycard Sale is still going on! These booklets give great discounts and are a great Christmas Gift/Stocking Stuffer. Please email Mr. Jacobs or Mr. VanderWall ([email protected]) if you have questions.

BOYS BASKETBALL LEAGUE Grades 3 - 6

Like last year, we ask that you evaluate your son based on experience and skill. This will help us determine teams and keep them as balanced as possible. We will have three leagues, 1) 3rd grade/beginners, 2) 4th grade/experienced and 3) 5th & 6th grade will be combined.

We will have experienced referees for all games.

Your son will practice one night a week and play two games on Saturdays. Practices will begin the week of January 9 and your son will be contacted by his coach no later than January 8 to inform you of time and location of practice. We are sorry, but we are unable to honor special requests for practice night/times due to the large number of kids in this program.

Practices: Begin week of Jan. 9, 2017You will be notified on location and time no later than January 8.

Games: Jan. 14 - Feb. 11, 2017Games will be played between 8:00 a.m. & 1:30 p.m. You will receive a schedule at your first practice.

Tournament: Feb. 18, 2017

Locations: January 14 - Baldwin & Riley Jan. 21, 28, Feb. 4, 11, & 18 - HHS Gyms

Cost: $90, includes jersey

Registration deadline - 4 p.m. on Jan. 4

Parents - WE NEED COACHES.

It’s a great way to connect with your child and his friends. Coaches will be notified regarding a date and time of the coaches meeting. You will be able to choose your practice night and receive team information at this meeting.

JR. EAGLES BASKETBALL Grades K - 2

These four (4) week jr. basketball camps will provide a fun atmosphere where kids will start to learn the fundamentals of basketball. The baskets at Georgetown Elementary can be lowered to provide our little ones a better chance to score and have fun. These sessions will fill very quickly - register early to secure a spot.

Who: Boys & Girls in grades K - 2

When: Saturdays, Jan. 21 - Feb. 11, 2017

Cost: $45, includes Jr. Eagle t-shirt

Where: Georgetown Elementary Gym, 3909 Baldwin St.

BoysSession 1: 8:30 a.m. - 9:25 a.m.Session 2: 9:30 a.m. - 10:25 a.m.Session 3: 10:30 a.m. - 11:25 p.m.

Girls Session 1: 11:30 a.m.- 12:25 p.m.Session 2: 12:30 p.m. - 1:25 p.m.

Session 1: This class is designed for all beginning basketball players to focus on the fundamentals of the game. The rims will be lowered to 6 - 7 feet, so kids can work on perfecting form. Ball handling, passing, defense, etc., will also be introduced.

Session 2: This class is designed for kids who are not ready for team concepts but have advanced past some of the real basic concepts covered in last years camp. Most 1st graders will fall into this category, but some inexperienced 2nd graders and advanced kindergartners could also benefit from this session. Fundamentals is at the core of this session, but kids will be shooting on 9 foot hoops.

Session 3: (2nd grade boys that meet the following criteria): All players that register for this session need to be in 2nd grade and must be able to dribble with one hand, catch a pass, and shoot at a 10 foot hoop. This session is designed to get kids ready for 5 on 5 basketball.

WRESTLING CLUB Grades K - 8th

Learn basic foundational wrestling for beginners with 2 years or less experience and advanced training for serious wrestlers with 3+ years of experience.

The HWC offers more time on the mat to learn through practices and more opportunities to wrestle competitively through the MYWA (Michigan Youth Wrestling Assoc.) program.

Who: Kids in grades K - 8th *Wrestlers are paired by weight and age.Wrestlers in 7th & 8th grade who wrestle on the middle school team will have fee waived.

When: First Practice: Tuesday, November 22, 6:15 p.m. ~ mandatory parent meeting at 6:30 p.m.

Where: Wrestling Room, Early Childhood Center, 5535 School Ave.Park in lot off of School St. and enter building through double glass doors.

Practices: Fee covers both sessions, however, session 2 will be advanced level practices. Wrestlers are welcome to attend some or all of the practices.Session 1: Nov. 22, 2016 - Feb. 2, 2017 - no practice January 24Session 2: Feb. 7, 2017 - March 30, 2017 - no practice February 9

Time: Beginners (2 years or less exp.): Tuesdays, 6:15 p.m. - 7:15 p.m. & Thursdays, 6:15 p.m. - 7:15 p.m.

Advanced (3 years or more exp.): Tuesdays, 6:15 p.m. - 8:00 p.m. & Thursdays, 6:15 p.m. - 8:00 p.m.

Fee: $65 - one wrestler$80 - two wresters same family$95 - three+ wrestlers same family

Fee includes club t-shirt, opportunity to wrestle in 1-2 local beginner duals or tournaments as they are offered (non-MYWA sanctioned). *HWC affiliation results in an $18 savings when you purchase an annual MYWA member card. ($35 for members not affiliated with a club ~ $17 if you’re in a club)
