Village of Bagdad Community Vision Plan
IMPLEMENTATION PLAN PREFACE
Project Location: Waterfront Area of Bagdad, Florida Project Team: Bagdad Waterfronts Florida Partnership program director, steering committee, and subcommittees Project Summary: In July 2006, the Village of Bagdad created a Community Vision Plan to help map its future development. With technical assistance from the Santa Rosa County Planning and Zoning department, the Bagdad Waterfronts Partnership facilitated the Vision Plan process through a series of community workshops. This project is part of the State of Florida, Department of Community Affairs Waterfronts Florida Partnership’s effort in assisting participating communities to develop long-term plans that help revitalize, renew and promote interest in the waterfront districts, while strengthening communities to accommodate growth. The focus areas of the program are: environmental resource protection, public access, retention of viable traditional waterfront economies, and hazard mitigation. The Village of Bagdad Community Vision Plan was adopted and encouraged for implementation by the Santa Rosa County Board of County Commissioners in August 2006. Results and Accomplishments: The results and accomplishments that follow this plan’s implementation will be reported on a quarterly basis to the Department of Community Affairs and Santa Rosa County. Accomplishments will be noted within this plan, and will be reviewed annually by the Partnership. Key Partners: Village of Bagdad residents and property owners, Santa Rosa County, Department of Community Affairs, Blackwater River Foundation, Bagdad Village Preservation Association, and the Bagdad Waterfronts Partnership committees.
Possible funding sources: Implementation of this plan will depend heavily upon funding resources that will be acquired through local, state and federal grants, private donations, and special fundraising efforts.
