No Cuts in Bury ! In Bury, the Con / Dem council has announced another £12 million cuts. This will mean: - The loss of at least 240 jobs - Bins being collected fortnightly - Youth Centres to close : Shuttle Centre, Y Zone, Elton Centre, Phoenix Centre - Cuts to school transport for children with special needs - A £25 charge for cubs, scouts and guides to use public parks - The visual impairment unit in Bury Library being axed - No lollipop men or women at crossings where there are traffic lights - Closures to libraries - Closing the Longfield Centre in Prestwich - Charging Disabled people to use council car parks - Cuts to Old People’s Homes and Day Centres for adults There is no need for these cuts. UK banks made £24 billion profits last year. We are paying for the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan. The coalition finds the money for its favourite programs like academy schools.
