ICT: In ICT there will be a focus on esafety. Children are using the internet and social media at a young age and we will start by making clear guidelines about how to be safe online. Children will learn how to make an entertaining presentation around the e safety theme. We will also look at how technology has changed the world we live in. History: We will look at British history from 1950 to the present day. There will be a focus on extending pupils’ chronological knowledge of major achievements and events during this period. Children will be encouraged to reflect on the past and make predictions about the future. In addition to this, we will look at primary sources from the past and critically evaluate the usefulness of historical evidence. Back to the Future Trips/Events: St Anne’s and Soho Radio. Science: Science this term will look at electricity: associate the brightness of a lamp or the volume of a buzzer with the number and voltage of cells used in the circuit compare and give reasons for variations in how components function, including the brightness of bulbs, the loudness of buzzers and the on/off position of switches use recognised symbols when representing a simple circuit in a diagram. Music: We will start our whole class violin lessons with Matt and Carole on a Friday. Violins will be taken home on Friday for children to runthrough techniques taught in class. Violins will need to be in again for the following lesson. Art: In art, the children will be looking at Andy Warhol and Matisse. We will look at the techniques they have used and will try to replicate these to create original work. Literacy: In literacy we will be looking at a decade a week starting from the 50’s and finish with a look into what the future may hold. The children will be writing opinion pieces, having debates and re capping and expanding their grammatical knowledge. P.E: The children will be swimming at the YMCA as well as weekly aerobics lessons from a trained instructor. They will learn about the importance of a healthy lifestyle and teamwork. R.E: Be able to explain the difference between customs, rules and laws, giving examples. Explain the difference between secular and religious laws, giving examples. Compare and contrast key dietary rules of Christians, Jews and Muslims, explaining reasons behind them.
