Though a start-up, our experienced ambitious faculty complemented with advanced infrastructure and facilities are equipped to provide our incoming students the best opportunities to participate in wide-ranges of design and other competitions in providing design solutions. Our faculty possesses vast experience and expertise in dealing with the students and in the subjects of studies. Many of them currently have undertaken multidisciplinary research, in applied design projects with students, and are in professional practice engaging architecture from the micro-scale to the urban and the regional, adopting diverse modes of inquiry and design. The scale and type of projects are various such as buildings, exhibitions, writing, and funded research. Faculty engages in exchange and peer development programs for knowledge sharing.

Our long term focus would be to engage our faculty and students into using advance sustainable and technological segments of building performance and building science, nano-technologies, robotics, and design computation often with tools for performance simulation, virtual construction, and direct-to-manufacture fabrication that are advancing to new design territories besides BIM and are adoptable to architectural profession. This new dimension shall signal a redefinition of architecture’s agency and a willingness to engage the real world. Guided by the expertise of our faculty, our students shall be directed through best routes to meet their ambitions and reach their highest potentials.

Through an intrinsic and extrinsic protorial process our faculty is committed to promote students’ individual goals through persuasive new directions that will enable our students and graduates to compete and incorporate the contemporary design and technology in both informed & imaginative ways. At Nitte SOA, our students and faculty further the perception of Architecture as human undertakings by amalgamating arts + sciences to humanize the spaces & environment though intensive study on

“Architecture & Built-Environment”.

DR. N R SHETTYADVISORNitte EDUCATION TRUST®

Today, Architecture education is at crossroads. New technologies, changing micro and macro environments, working methods, materials and inquisitive experimental practices are leading to complexities in building projects. The continual increase in cost of Architectural construction and the land price has rekindled the need to relook into various digital and analog theories, technologies and practices on “value creation and value delivery”.

Architecture as a subject of study requires students and professionals to possess considerable exciting commitment. Even on graduation Architects are required to be life-long learners to keep pace with the changing needs of the clients and technological developments. The subject ‘Architecture’ requires architects and architectural students at once to be jack of all trades such as artists, technologists, urbanists, advocates, audience and spectators operating from a global vantage point in the current to project a future reality. At Nitte SOA architecture is taught from within this broad context.

The curriculum shall utilize the usage of digital tools, techniques and processes in design generation for improving productivity from design through construction. The current trends promotes opportunistic design environment that accepts the utilization of new tools that aid in expanding human creativity. We would like to see Nitte SOA as an architecture and design school that embraces all the technologies and creativity using talent and skill mapping processes and directing our students to area of where their emotional intelligence resides.

Education in Architecture and design in current century is evolving at a rapid place. It will look very different from what it looked like a decade ago. Increasingly, students and family members are realizing about high design research projects in collaboration with professionals, public entries and partners from industry. More and more, these collaborative enterprises have begun to challenge designers to further enhance their ability to integrate diverse and often unfamiliar array of skills and knowledge. Here at Nitte SOA, we strive to be at the forefront of changes that will enable the best and brightest students to pursue entrepreneurial initiatives, to lead creative terms, and to accelerate innovation. Through design research, our aim is to bring about healthy sustainable communities, drive advancement in building technology, and connect our research with industry in order to create new economic opportunities for the citizens of this country, state, the region, and beyond.

Nitte SOA shall encourage discoveries that emerge from innovative research projects that have begun to have technological, environmental, and social impact, making their way into the everyday lives of people throughout our region and beyond. The works of the Architects adds value to an already strong curriculum and challenges our faculty to continually reflect on the future of design education. As the demands of practice change at an unprecedented pace, it is crucial to have an educational environment that support innovative learning. Our school is keenly aware that we are preparing students for a workplace that will be unlike the past.

To meet the challenges of the future, to be ready for the world, our students shall work with state-of-the-art design & technologies including fabrication, engagement with faculty members and visitors with specialized Expertise and participation in new opportunities for collaboration and international exchange.

Our goal is to make Nitte SOA a Design Research out from Bangalore to the world. We are convinced thinking will increasingly drive innovation and economic growth. Today, creative thinking will increasingly drive innovation and economic growth. Today creativity is in demand. A recent survey across the countries are making creativity as the first ‘leadership competency’ for the future. Across the globe countries are making creativity development a national priority. To advance innovative curricula in the school, we will be adding the courses, programmes, technological capability, intellectual capital, and industrial affiliates necessary to meet the global demand for creativity and research our objective for being a “design thinking”. To enrich the learning experiences of our students we will engage research partners from multi disciplinary areas of studies across the country . We will aspire to create value for everyone involved with our school.

VALUE EDUCATION

All you need is the plan. The road map, and the

courage to press on to your destination.

Earl Nightingale

RELATION OF PHILOSOPHY TO CURRICULUM

Architectural education at Nitte SOA is based on inspiration as well as a rational discourse where students learn the basic knowledge; understand the intellectual basis of architecture with the major concepts that make the understanding of architecture possible right in the very first year of their architectural education.

The aim of Nitte SOA is to “erect intellectual scaffolding” for knowledge in architecture and have available an apparatus to respond to the question; what is architecture?, from the outset of the student’s architectural studies.

The students will examine examples of contemporary architectural production and along with the intellectual constructs from which they have arisen. Students will learn to reveal the linguistic richness and semantic complexity of the language used in the discipline of architecture.

The students will learn about the key words of architectural vocabulary such as abstract, aesthetics, art avant-garde, beauty, building, construction, critique, deconstruction, form, function, genius, History, landscape, language, mimetic,

modern nature, phenomena, postmodern, program, representation, theory, topology, truth, typology, sublime, space, style system, world, etc.

The students of Nitte SOA shall be able to explore the revolution of these “keywords” in architecture and learn to understand their shifting motivations, considering the work of theoretical reflections, writings, manifestos, treatises in the disciplines of philosophy, art and architecture, transcend to futuristic architecture that is need of this hour, that will position them into good practice.

SPINAL BENCHMARKED ROADMAP

Success is a long and winding road you must walk.

We have laid out the directions and eliminated the blisters.

Architecture is a multi-disciplinary subject drawing inspiration from various disciplines like Art, Construction, Engineering, Design etc. The Nitte SOA aims to offer a guided and a specialized approach which will enable our students to become Architects of not just national but global repute.

PHILOSOPHY OF THE SCHOOL:

Architecture studies at Nitte SOA will be a from of intervention in the environment, and Nitte SOA believe that Architecture is an aesthetic practice producing physical objects and structures to enable and improve everyday life. Therefore, architecture should be produced through artistic, social, technological and sustainable competences, and must be based on profound academic knowledge. Architects and architectural teachers must create a common future for students of architecture.

Architecture is a subject where periodic scientific invention always intertwines with artistic innovation, synthesis and communication. Architecture studies at Nitte SOA will provide the scope to access a wide range of knowledge pertaining to technical matters, humanities social and economic planning to complement artistic development. Our goal is to educate designers with a serious commitment to design, aesthetics, structural and construction

systems, adaption to contemporary technologies and services, intellectual property rights, these architectural ethics will be made to strive for better living and a better world; Nitte SOA commits to this through research & development of new strategies, directions, philosophies, materials and products that pertain to contemporary times and are sustainable.

Faculty at Nitte SOA with a Critical approach towards the understanding of modern architecture, will find a basis in the convention and history of Indian and world architecture and formulate a platform of rethinking. Students at Nitte SOA will learn and work with project based learning systems. The studios and laboratories of architecture, and construction yard are the places of experiment and contribution to professional inventions and innovations.

The need of this hour “sustainable design and construction”, needs to be integrated with ‘design thinking’, strong aesthetic and structural awareness in order for further development and the components that make an architectural piece of work sustainable.
