Welcome to Burnley Arts Centre! Burnley Arts Centre is located just outside of Burnley town centre and is a unique venue which includes two fantasic buildings; Burnley Youth Theatre and The Moira Preston Building. The venue houses a 158 seat state of the art theatre, 3 studio spaces, 2 outdoor performance spaces and a warm and welcoming foyer.

Our ‘On Tour’ programme of high quality visiting professional theatre has some fantastic shows on offer to families and young people this Autumn. We are a family friendly venue and have signed up to the Family Arts Standards, a national set of guidelines designed to ensure families can find everything they need at arts venues.

We also program a range of sessions for all members of the family to engage in the arts, including photography and dance sessions. In addition, we are the home of Burnley Youth Theatre, which offers a rich programme of arts activities for children and young people aged 0 - 25 (see the reverse of this brochure for more details).

Larry works in an office and he likes it very much. He likes sorting and tidying and generally putting things in order. But one day, a suitcase suddenly appears at his door. A suitcase with a tiny label with Larry’s name on it. And this suitcase has a mission... Join Larry as his world gets turned upside down by a fantastical flying suitcase taking him further than he ever thought possible. Follow Larry’s journey as he discovers the thrill of adventure and the joy of coming home again.

ONCE IN A BLUE MOONby Wriggle Dance Theatre

It’s the Moon’s birthday and he’s having a party! We’re all invited, but how do we get there? Join us as we journey to the moon through strange and distant lands and meet some curious characters along the way. Incorporating dance, live music and audience interaction, this piece offers 3-6 year olds and their grown-ups a truly magical experience.

GATECRASHby Zest Theatre

With his parents on holiday Sam’s having a house party. Nothing big, just a quiet night in with a few close friends… at least that was the plan until you knocked on the door! Zest Theatre’s exciting, interactive production puts you right in the centre of the action and gives you control of the conversations you listen to through ‘Silent Disco’ technology. Put on your wireless headphones, step through Sam’s front door and experience the party unfold as you Gatecrash the party!

PIGEONby Lunabug Theatre

Travel back 100 years to the battle fields of the First World War when pigeons saved lives by flying vital messages behind enemy lines. This is the incredible true story of one of those birds, who became known as ‘Cher Ami’. In a time of terrible war every man was needed to fight, and every pigeon was needed too. Charmingly inventive puppets, original live music and delightfully daft characters combine to uncover a remarkable historical story.

Find out how to get cool pictures from your camera phone and learn lots of techniques to get more ‘pop’ from your pics. Each session will be stand alone. Come to one or all five of the sessions. Take home a print of your favourite image!5 weekly sessions from Wednesday 24th September 7:30pm - 9:30pm

Audition Coachingfor school years 7 - 11 & young people aged 16 - 25

This one-to-one session can help you prepare for big auditions with advice on selecting and delivering your audition piece, taking your monologue to the highest standard. The session is FREE but must be booked in advance.Various dates available

Arts AwardYou can do an Arts Award in any area of the arts and as you develop your skills you will also gain nationally recognised qualifications, with the Gold Award being worth 35 UCAS points.Junior Session (Ages 7 - 11) Thursday 4pm - 5pm

ACTIVITIES FOR YOUNG PEOPLE

Adult ConnectA drama session for people aged 18+ with disabilities and learning difficulties. The group will create exciting work combining movement, drama, voice, music and lighting. Begins Wednesday 10th September.Wednesday 1:30pm - 3pm Cost £3 per session

Photography For AdultsWhy does my picture not work? What makes the good ones work? Less about cameras and more about photographs. Bring your digital camera or even a phone with a camera built in. 3 weekly sessions from 12th November.Wednesday 7:30pm - 9:30pm Cost £4 per session

Dance FitAn energetic dance fitness class for adults led by choreographer Kat Osborne. Try out styles like Zumba, Salsa, Street Dance & Musical Theatre in this high energy and fun fitness class. Begins Thursday 14th September.Thursday 6pm - 7pm Cost £4 per session

Burnley Artisan Market With stalls stocking treasures from bespoke artworks to artisan ales and stall holders including boutique bakeries and sweet shops, there is something for all the family. The market runs from 10am until 4pm.Sunday 14th September Sunday 12th October Sunday 9th November
