Do you ever wonder why God

loved you so much that He gave His

only Son to die for your sins? I do.

Do you ever wonder why God

chose your parents? I do. Do you

wonder or ever think about the fact

that the one and only GOD AL-

MIGHTY knew you in your

mother’s womb? I do. Do you ever

think about why God chose you to

be born in America instead of some

other country where you may have

never heard the word JESUS? I do.

This is just some of the simple

questions I think about and how

grateful I am that THE God, creator

of all things, thought about me. Me,

why? The answer is LOVE. I can

only TRY to understand that kind of

love. Does that make you want to

know him better? I do.

Sometimes I can find the right

words to express how in AWE I am

of the one who died for me. Some-

times I think about when I was a lit-

tle girl in my bed at night, looking

out my window up at the sky, think-

ing about God. Even then, wonder-

ing why would He think of me. Do

you?

Some may think I feel unworthy.

I DO. I do know the word tells me

that only His blood makes me wor-

thy. It is so simple. I must never for-

get. I did nothing to earn his unmer-

ited favor, but I have it. Praise God.

Do you?

Do you ever think about who in

the past prayed for you, that God

would be with you and bring you to

salvation with Him? I do. Do you

ever feel it is your responsibility to

pray for others born or yet to be

born? I do.

I know that we are just a small

part of the body of Christ, but, if we

function in our place in the body,

and with a willing heart obey, that is

all that God requires of us. Obedi-

ence. These are just some of the

things I think about. DO YOU?

We in Samaritan Singles ask that

the church keep us in your prayers

as we go forward doing life together.

To listen to the voice of God, to be

alert, to question our own hearts to

be available, as he brings souls to

cross our path who need this fellow-

ship.

Love in the name above all

names, Jesus Christ.

behavior. Ovidiu confessed to me

that he is a very bad boy and that his

dad brought him to the center to

"teach him a lesson" and that when

he changes his behavior and be-

comes “a good boy” his dad prom-

ised to take him home again.

Holding back a flood of emo-

tions, I sat him on my lap, put my

hands around his face and looking

into his eyes I said: “Ovidiu, you are

not a bad boy!!!” He challenged my

answer several times and asked me

how I knew that he was not a bad

boy. I told him, “God sees your

heart and He told me that you are

not a bad boy! He told me that He

gave you a good heart!” With a large

smile on his face, as though I had

revealed to him one of the secrets of

his heart, he agreed. My prayer is

that my words would bring healing

to his broken heart.

A Desperate Cry for Worth!

Over the last two months, we met

25 malnourished and abandoned in-

fants and toddlers at a local chil-

dren's hospitals and 13 children,

ages 7-17, at a government home for

abused children. As we listened to

each of their stories, our hearts sunk.

From the smallest, malnourished,

abandoned baby in the children’s

hospital, to the 17 year old youth in

the center for abused children, their

cry is the same...

“I am ALONE ...

I long to be loved and comforted,

I long to be touched and held,

I long to know I have value,

I long to know I belong,

I long to no longer be ALONE”... Ovidiu is a sweet, handsome,

deeply hurt 11-year old boy. He was

adopted when he was six months old

and unfortunately never attached to his parents. To make matters worse,

his parents divorced when he was

three and his mother disappeared

two years ago. After she left, he be-

came violent and started physically

acting out. He has been transferred

to 11 different schools so far and

nobody wants him because of his

Ovidiu’s Story:

"His name is Ovidiu*. He came

to the center 2 weeks ago. He still

cries every day. We need to keep an

eye on him because he tries to run

away all the time," said 12 year old

Ramona*, one of the children from

the Center for Abused Children,

when she introduced me to Ovidiu.

Ministering in one of the Govern-

ment Centers for Abused Chil-

dren!

In early July, we started going to

the government center for abused

children. I expected to meet shy and

reserved kids, but instead, we met

kids that were warm and so incredi-

bly starved for love, affection and

attention. A few of the kids snuggled

up against me and did not want to let

go. It didn't take long to see these

children's biggest need was love and

connection with a family. Unfortu-

nately, these children are not legally

adoptable. However they can be

"adopted" by a family or individ-

ual during weekends and vaca-

tions. With the help of a very good

friend, we started looking for indi-

viduals or families to open their

hearts and homes to these kids. In

July, five loving individuals/families

came forth with a sincere desire “to

adopt” five of the abused children.

We shared with them our experience

with Emma, and the things we

learned over the years regarding

attachment. Helping to see these

children connect to their "adoptive"

weekend families was an honor be-

yond words. We will continue to

work to get every child connected

with a weekend family.

HEART of WORSHIP Submitted by Jan Holly

Thoughts from an article by Darlene

Zschech - When we come to know

Jesus everything changes, even the

way we look at our family, our

neighbors, and the person standing

in front of us in church. After Jesus

comes into our hearts to reside

Church will look and sound different

as well. In an article by Darlene, she

talked about her experience walking

into church after accepting Christ

and hearing the songs as well as the

congregation through new ears sing-

ing “a song of the heart, not of just

the mouth.”

Darlene has given her life writ-

ing, performing, and leading songs

about Jesus. She resides in Australia

and was the primary worship leader

at Hillsong Church. While she has

been under much scrutiny I have

appreciated for many years how she

proclaims Jesus to a world of folks

who don’t know or care who He is.

In her words, ”Music is created to

give voice to the human condition

and express with authenticity the

human heart.”

In Psalm 71 David says “When I

open up in song to You, I let out

lungs full of praise, my rescued life

a song.” (The Message)

I agree with her in that praising

God with music is not about style,

volume or method. It is about

‘thanksgiving that is being released

from grateful hearts.’ It is about

singing songs from scripture

whether it be a lament or a song of

adoration and offering our voice to

God who is our true audience.

When we give due worth to God,

and respond to Jesus Christ as our

Savior through our very lives, we

worship. We find time to do the im-

portant things in our lives. While our

list may change, it is my prayer that

at the top of this is worship. I pray

that during the week we sing our

songs to Jesus. Then on Sunday we

come together, our church family,

and corporately sing to Him from

our HEART of WORSHIP. God, our

creator, Redeemer, Savior and

Friend deserves the best we can give

Him.

C-3 Update As you have experienced, we

now can use the front entrance to

our foyer. Several things need to be

completed, but the ability to enter

from the front is indeed a blessing.

If you have wandered to the back,

you will observe the retaining walls

in place, thanks to Bob Cox and a

crew of volunteers who prepped the

sites for the modular buildings yet to

arrive. When they arrive, many vol-

unteers will be needed. Plumbing,

some electrical, landscaping, paint-

ing, building the skirting, putting in

sidewalks, are a few of the things we

anticipate to occur in September and

October. We also are planning for

new floors in the foyer and inside

our multipurpose sanctuary. Re-

moving carpet and prepping the

floor surfaces will be done by volun-

teers.

Most of all we need to pray for

safety and the financial needs of C-3

campus. God has blessed us in many

ways by helping us find areas in our

budget to save money. This allows

for the overages we always seem to

run into in a remodel project.

Watch for a new opportunity

coming, so everyone can participate.

“The Lord is my Shepherd; I

shall not want.” I was looking at

Psalm 23 the other day, again, and it

struck me that we live in a society

that does “want.” It wants and it

desires and longs for and lusts after

and covets, and you and I are in-

fected by that spirit of dissatisfaction

every day, in hundreds of different

ways, all the time. Oh the

“wanting” is well disguised…

appearing sometimes as a method of

self-improvement or an innocent

way to reach our goals and better

ourselves at other times… or pro-

vide our families with a better life,

but I wonder – is all this “wanting”

counter-intuitive to the peace, seren-

ity and contentment we crave and

were created for?

In Philippians 4:11 the apostle

Paul wrote, “Not that I speak in re-

gard to need, for I have learned in

whatever state I am, to be content,”

and he was in prison! And I want

some of that. I want to be “content”

where I am. I want to be “content”

with what I’m doing, right now, and

rejoice in all that God has given me.

I don’t want to be “wanting” all the

time…looking on the horizon for the

next best thing…the newest bit of

over-the-top technology that I don’t

really need and can’t pay for. I don’t

want to have my spirit constantly

agitated by commercials that say I’m

not a “real” woman unless I shop at

Macys or wear a name-brand

makeup or pay big-bucks for my

jeans. I don’t want to be “wanting”.

It wastes time and can be so ex-

hausting.

Come on! Let’s get real. We

live in the western world and we’re

civilized people. We already have

more than we need…more than we

could ever use and pay for already.

Whatever happened to the fine art of

living simply and learning to be con-

tent with what we have? Sure we

live in a consumer driven culture,

but we don’t have to be controlled

by it. In fact, we’re not supposed to

be. Wouldn’t it be a relief to enter

God’s presence with thanksgiving

and shout, “I shall not want” and

mean it? Well, at least we could

give it a try.

“Who said so?” I can recall that

phrase that I once used quite often. I

was always getting information that

I did not want to hear, or accept.

When I was able to get the author of

the “said so” I usually said, “I

thought so.” Then, there came a time

in my life that I asked that question

at the wrong time, or maybe it was

the right time.

I read the Bible as a habit, but not

really getting anything out of it for a

long time. What interested me, was

the short chapters in the Psalms so I

could say that I had read a lot of

chapters to win a prize for the

amount of chapters one child was

able to read every day. Once I had

finished the shorter Psalms, I started

looking for more short chapters so

that I could win the new Bible. My

brothers and sisters could not keep

up with me so I was always

winning.

Then when the revival was over,

I went back to reading as a task. I

never tried to read the Bible through

until I found the Lord and He saved

me on May 3, 1959. Then the Bible

took on a new meaning. I learned

who the author was and that He had

my interests in mind. Now, I can

honestly say that I have read the

Bible through, cover to cover many

times. I lost count when I had

reached the mark of 40 times. Each

time the words began to take on a

new meaning and I found that

reading was a pleasure that intrigued

me. It was then that the answer to

the above question became clear.

Now I know “Who said so.” And

that makes all the difference in the

world. It is when you get acquainted

with the author that I really

developed a new reason for reading.

Now, I can truly say that I know,

who said so. And it makes all the

difference. I have actually taken

several years to study one theme in

the Bible. I can recall the words in

John 13:1 N.I.V. that really took on

a new meaning. That phrase was

simply, “He now showed them the

full extent of His love.” After

plowing as deep in the phrase as

possible, I found that I could never

reach the whole meaning. Yes, it

makes all the difference, “Who said

so?”

Get on board and start reading the

Bible not just for pleasure, but to

learn what HE is trying to say. Then,

you also will know, “Who said so?”

And that will make all the

difference. You also, will enjoy His

word and be able to tell others,

“Who said so.”

A glow - ever so slight

begins to illuminate the darkness of night!

Now I can see much clearer

and Jesus is standing so much nearer!

He reaches out a nailed scarred hand

to lift me up -with Him to stand

in the glory of His light!

Now all my shame has taken flight

since my secret sins have all been viewed

and my soul is full of joy - renewed!
