The Theory Of The Age

People, concerned about their future, and the warlike world around them, were more likely to proliferate

According to Freud, children are heavily influenced by their parents coordination of daily life

– Many children from these ages were raised to have kids and given the gender roles of their lifestyle

According to Erikson, people progress through their stages of personality by the success and intentions of their actions, all predetermined by their conditions

– Because many new innovations were emerging from the paranoia of a country in need of security, many people felt the need to take hold of these ideas and use them to their advantage; creating the new sense of technology associated with this age.

Erikson feels that each stage has a certain optimal time and that no parent or guardian should try to push children to adulthood

» In this generation, parents were typically very influential forces to the development of a child. Because of this, many parents may have seen the need for their children to grow up faster and become more responsible, thus, contradicting with Erikson’s ideas of an optimal time for the transition between childhood and adulthood

Under Erikson’s concept of mutuality, many children were influenced by their peers, their grandparents and parents, and other generations. This was also conveyed to those influencing the children: they were affected by the younger generations.

The separation anxiety of war also evoked this very same feeling in many separated couples; jeopardizing their relationship, and possibly leading to isolation.
