WWWWelcome BAAS Alumni and Families,
On behalf of the Bay Area Asian Sports Dragons Alumni/Booster committee, WELCOME!! Can you believe BAAS is in its 10th year
anniversary this coming year 2010? It is this milestone that got some of the parents who first became involved in getting BAAS off the ground to
join forces and kick off this first, of what we hope to become many, alumni get-togethers. Without you and your families’ dedication when your BAAS teams were initially formed, the organization would not be
where it is today. Did you know that BAAS now has more than 30 teams from grades 3rd thru 12th with over 300 members? That’s so AWESOME!!
Just this past October, we were able to get most of our 300+ members together in one venue to take an organizational photo to put in our 10th anniversary tournament book next April. That was quite a feat.
The purpose of this get-together is just that, to get together, start a network of all alumni/families, provide information on upcoming BAAS
events and to hopefully continue to keep YOU a part of the ‘Dragon fam-ily’. As you know, the mission of the BAAS Dragons organization is to help Asian American boys and girls develop physically, psychologically
and socially through sports and athletics. Even though you all have graduated and moved on in your lives, we wanted to acknowledge the
fact that you helped us get this all started and the next generation of youngsters get to reap the rewards of what you helped begin in 2000.
Tonight’s event is all about fun. We want you to socialize, reconnect with your former teammates/friends, play a little basketball and just enjoy yourselves. Our goal as the Dragon Alumni/Booster Committee is
to reach out to our former members and hope that together, we can build a very strong, committed, friendly and close group of people that
will make valuable contributions for BAAS as well as the community. We hope that in some way, you will decide to once again become a part of this great organization and continue to help us prosper in whatever ca-
pacity you are able to, now or in the future.
Again, WELCOME and have some fun! We hope that you and your
families have a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year. BAAS Alumni /Booster Committee

2009 marked the inaugural year of The Challenge, an annual fundraising event sponsored by the Bay Area Asian Sports organization, showcasing
the finest Bay Area Asian high school and college basketball players matched against alumni teams.
All proceeds from The Challenge go towards the building of a new sports community center in the Bay Area.
What began as a singular idea to build a "Home of the Dragons" has evolved into the larger mission of building community, and using a sports
community center to achieve that goal. The Dragons organization chartered the "Building Fund" to raise funds to build a facility to serve as a home base
from which past and present players can come together through sports, to mentor each other to reach new heights, and to inspire the next generation of youth. It will provide families a place to continue their friendships long after
their children have finished competing as players. This first-ever Alumni Reunion was borne from the idea that the Dragons community does not need
to end with high school graduation. We would like to provide both players and their families with opportunities to reconnect and remain connected with the Dragons family. In addition to attending social events, consider "giving back"
by volunteering as coaches to younger teams or helping out with summer leagues and clinics. Whether you realize it or not, you are all role models for
the current generation of young players. Your presence and leadership allows our younger players to envision the road they might take to adulthood.

In making this first-ever Dragons Alumni Reunion event a success, we would like to thank the BAAS Dragons Governing Board, valuable
sponsors and the many volunteers who have spent countless hours
planning and organizing all the activities.
Special thanks go to the parents of the graduating Class of 2006
Boys and Class of 2008 Girls who have made generous donations
toward the Alumni Reunion T-shirt fund.
We would also like to express our deepest appreciation to all the former Dragons team managers for their efforts in contacting the
graduates and reconnecting them with the Dragons
Organization. Volunteers are what this organization is built on and
we want to thank the ones who were instrumental in forming this
initial Alumni Reunion event:

Shuk Wah Yen As the "founding" players and families, you have planted the seeds
which are now blooming into this great organization. It is our sincere
hope that all alumni will continue to stay connected to the Dragons organization, to provide leadership to the next generation and to
maintain the friendships and camaraderie that were developed
during their Dragon playing days.
Thank you.
