Here describe a brief history of the company where the object of research

has done by author, PT. Schneider Electric Manufacturing Batam Schneider

Electric, founded by Group SCHNEIDER, and are now scatter in 106 countries.

PT. Schneider Electric Manufacturing Batam is one of 200 Schneider Electric

factories spread across 106 countries. PT Schneider Electric Manufacturing

Batam a factory assembly line with specialized industrial controls. This means

that to get a type of product finished products is carried out manually and

automated process, where the process is done manually by staff - manpower and

for the automatic process done by high tech machines and modern. International

products from PT Schneider Electric Manufacturing Batam exported to- European

and Asian countries. PT. Schneider Electric Manufacturing Batam has three

buildings of different locations, namely electronic factory on Lot 208 and Electro

mechanic factory on Lot 04 and Sensor factory on Lot 01 with the management

and rules of the same company.

In the beginning, PT. Schneider Electric Manufacturing Batam named PT.

Telemecanique Manufacturing Batam which was established on August 16, 1991,

located in Batam Batamindo Industrial Area. The company began to run the

production of goods - electric goods since the beginning of September 1991 with

Telemecanique branded products in South East Asia region.

After PT. Telemecanique Manufacturing Batam has been in business for

about a year, on December 22, 1993 PT. Telemecanique Manufacturing Batam

entered into an agreement with Japanese-owned Company "TOSHIBA", with the

largest stake held by PT. Telemecanique Manufacturing Batam by 80% and 20%

by Toshiba Corporation.

On 27 September 1994 PT. Telemecanique Manufacturing Batam obtain

ISO 9002 certification because of its success in creating a high-quality

commodity and is supported by good equipment either from the manufacture or in

the testing of which has become.

Then on 1 November 1994 PT. Telemecanique Manufacturing Batam

renamed PT. Schneider Electric Manufacturing Batam. Onwards on April 30,

1997 PT. Schneider Electric Manufacturing Batam receive approval from the

Ministry of Industry of the Republic of Indonesia to be "ISO 14001 Pilot Project".

This is an award given the Government of the Republic of Indonesia to the

industries that is friendly to the environment. This award was given on December

10, 1997.

Another success won in 2003, after the CCC (China Complain Certification)

certification from China and ISO 9001 (Quality Management System) version

2000 is obtained. And in October 2003, Schneider Electric becomes the sole

owner of PT. Schneider Electric Manufacturing Batam. PT. Scheneider continues

to increase standardization by certified health. In June 2007 PT Schneider Electric

Manufacturing Batam is divided into two factories Electro mechanic, Electronic

factory, and in October 2007 PT. Schneider Electric Manufacturing Batam

successfully obtain OHSAS 18001 certification, in 2011, 3 faction.

Currently PT. Schneider Electric to occupy one of the top ranking in electrical

distribution, automation, and control.

1. Schneider Electric organization structure

Organization Structure is a container where all the personnel coordinated and

run by operating activities, agencies or companies. Within each section or

structure of the organization work together to achieve goals set by the company.

organizational structure of PT Schneider Electric Manufacturing Batam, is one

channel that shows the relationship of authority and responsibility within the

company. For companies that have good management, of course, must have good

organizational structure as well, every good organization structure has a

condition. The condition is the separation of functions and the authority.

The composition of the organizational structure, duties and responsibilities of

The function of position contained PT. Schneider Electric Manufacturing

Batam is as follows:

a. SEMB Plant

Head Plant is a General Manager responsible for determining

strategies to achieve corporate objectives contained in the vision and

mission. Head Plant is also authorized to provide command and

motivation to the operation of existing managers to cooperate in the unit

that he leads to achieve company goals. To answers people commitment,

product or process engineering and monitor industrial process.

b. Manufacturing

Manufacturing Manager is responsible for management of all

factories’ production directly answerable to the plant manager for on time

delivering of product, manufacturing defect sale, scrap and product

manufacturing lead time.

c. Quality

Quality function of the plant develop quality action plant , takes care

of customers complaints, manufacturing defects, scrap, work commits of

application of sheet works instructions & fixed operations procedures,

responsible for simple production settings.

d. Quality System

Quality System ensures that the quality system meets the standards

and facilitates the production of Quality System in operation in order to

produce quality products and to satisfy customers. Quality System

inspection authorities monitoring systems and production systems to

conform to the desire then reported to the management about ISO, CCC,

and OHSAS.

e. Supply Chain

Supply Chain in charge of making a purchase of components or

materials required in a production activity from the supplier of PT.

Schneider Electric Manufacturing Batam to produce a quality product that

will be sold to customers. Also to manage upstream, downstream and

internal material flow.

f. Finance

Finance charge of inspection and financial control is recording of all

transactions that occurred at PT. Schneider Electric Manufacturing Batam

both income and expenditure and profit and loss to be reported to the

company manager. Finance is also authorizing budgets and makes sure all

the forms of loans and receivables that exist at PT. Schneider Electric

Manufacturing Batam.

g. Method (Industrial or Manufacture Engineering)

Method responsible of industrial strategy, capacity, productivity,

continues improvement for the factory. Also in charge of the industrialize

activity or manufacturing (lean manufacturing, MTM (standard time

analysis), ergonomic, cost analysis, simulation.

h. Technical Antenna

Technical Antenna in charge of engineering change related to

continue improvement for product based on customer.

i. Maintenance

Maintenance responsible to maintenance are break down, preventive,

prediction, prevention.

j. Tooling

Tooling charge is checking and control of all tooling for which is on

the supplier can be still used in accordance with company standards there.

Tooling can also determine what tools are to be used by suppliers to

produce a good material to be produced by the company. Renew tools or

check the capacity of tool.

l. MIS (Management Information System)

MIS in charge of making new information systems or maintain and

improve existing information systems at the company for use by all

employees for the efficiently of all the company's activities.

D. 5S Culture.

PT. SEMB develop 5S program to create a culture of discipline and a

clean workplace. Elements - elements of 5S are: Seiri, Seiton, Seiso, Seiketsu,

Shitsuke.

Seiri. a principle, the workplace is a place to work, because it must be

free of all objects and items that are not needed in the workplace but also creates

employment barriers job insecurity. The easiest way to sum up:

• Collect first items to be summarized,

• Select the appropriate type and needs,

• Choose which items are still needed and not needed anymore,

• Goods are no longer needed should be discarded. And no longer need to be

summarized,

• Summarize the items are still required.

Seiton. Place the items that have been condensed to a safe place and can

be easily found, because the search is wasteful and do not provide value-added

products. Many delays in completing a job search activities if not eliminated.

For ease of clean up that has been summarized:

• All items must have a place adequate,

• Give the limit mark on similar goods,

• Label and place the goods must be complete,

• System and how the placement of goods must be the original place. The

grouping of items can be applied to the logic, there are two patterns of goods,

namely with: uniform and functional.

Seiso. A dirty workplace that could interfere with the view and work

processes, and the rehearsal takes place to induce a feeling of comfort and safety

at work. The characteristics of a place that rehearsal:

• Clean, free from dust and odors,

• Required a complete sanitation,

• Lighting adequate work.

Seiketsu. in principle, try to get a place that has a good job can always

be maintained. Required for the care that is:

• Make a mark with clear signposts,

• Use standard operating procedure to complete,

• Implementation of appropriate standards of work,

• Determination of the indicator should be in normal limits.

Shitsuke. Diligent is closely associated with the habit that must be

nurtured in order to maintain and enhance what is already good. Ways to get

used to be diligent:

• The habit of people must be fostered. Establish leave bad habits and good habits,

• Fostering employee relations. Must be maintained properly,

• Means to be diligent to be met,

• Implementation of work practices. Application of work practices should be

implemented to avoid saturation means of vocational training places and props.
