The Burnaby Firefighters Charitable Society is supported by 280 dedicated Burnaby firefighters, making it their mission to raise money for community groups and non-profit organizations. Our society has no paid employees – members of Burnaby Firefighters Local 323 volunteer their time to administer the business of the society. In 2019, Burnaby’s firefighters contributed nearly 15,000 hours at 100 initiatives in and around our city.
Our ongoing dedication to help our community is reflected in the kind of work we do: firefighters are prepared to put their lives on the line to protect their community. We know
that protecting a community is not only about keeping lives and property safe, it’s about helping the citizens of our community every day – people who have to deal with health problems, disabilities, poverty, abuse, hunger and so many other challenges.
The Burnaby Firefighters Charitable Society raises funds to provide sizeable annual donations to more than 60 charitable and community organizations. Our focus is to support Burnaby-based charities but we are fortunate to also have the opportunity to extend our support to other ganizations needing assistance in the Lower Mainland.

Our firefighters are known not only for the work they do serving the citizens of Burnaby, but also for the tremendous amount of time they give during their off-duty hours. They raise money and deliver nutritional snacks to 27 elementary schools, four high schools, four community centres and two youth centres, as well as host pancake breakfasts at various schools during the Christmas season.
In addition, the Firefighters Charitable Society has established bursaries in various schools for the next 10 years and has provided continued support of care packages to the City of Burnaby’s Warming Centres and is a big part of the Coldest Night of the Year in Burnaby.
