Page 1 of 6 PRINCIPAL’S COMMENT 150 Year Anniversary Celebrations On behalf of all BPS staff, I would sincerely like to thank everyone for their support and participation in last week’s highly successful 150 Year Anniversary celebrations. We were amazed and thrilled with the effort and creativity put into all student’s costumes and we are very grateful to parents and carers who assisted their children with putting these together. It was extremely rewarding to stand up at the morning assembly and look down with great pride at how our students had embraced the theme. WELL DONE students and parents/carers! Next, I would like to publically thank my 150 Year Committee member colleagues: Libby Hamerlok, Leanne Farrington, Heather Smith, Rose Reid, Noel Tape, Kim Beckwith, Elaine Andrews, Suzie Collins, Cathy Hall, Di Ellis and Alicia Palmer-Johnson. This dedicated group of volunteers put many, many hours of time and effort into ensuring that the events over both days were highly organised, fun and successful. Along with this team, I would also like to thank all members of the P&C, my entire staff and last but certainly not least, Mrs Verna Wallace for their support and assistance throughout this whole 150 Year Anniversary journey. THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU! Car Park I would like to remind all parents and visitors to our school that for WHS compliance, the car park is for staff use only. Emergency Drills Please be advised that we will be practising our emergency evacuation and lockdown procedures in the coming weeks. In order to eliminate anxiety, teachers will inform students that it is only ‘practice’. Attendance Audit We recently underwent an Attendance Audit by Department of Education representatives, who have informed us that there are several current procedures that we need to modify in order to be deemed compliant (a legal requirement). Over the coming weeks Mr Small and I will be working on enhancing our procedures and practices, along with training staff around these. We will inform parents/carers of changes to our current procedures once they are finalised. Stay tuned…. Thank you A final note of thanks to Miss Ward who has had a very successful term of teaching on 3P. We wish her all the very best for her career and hope to see her teaching back at Beechwood PS one day soon. Enrolments Over the next few weeks, our Kindergarten Orientation invitations and enrolment packages will be sent out to families. We are currently busy meeting with and discussing, new Kindergarten enrolments for 2020, and also high school enrolments for 2020. We are in the early phases of looking at Kindergarten class arangements for 2020, so if you know of, or have any family or friends that have expressed any interest in enrolling their child at our school, please direct them to contact the school office as soon as possible, so that we can discuss their future enrolment. Likewise, if you are a parent/carer of a current Year 6 student and you have not yet completed a high school enrolment form, then you will need to contact your chosen high school to organise this immediately.
