W is for WILLIAMWilliam the fisherman wonders the streets of birmingham in search of a crew for his new ship he assures us it will be sailing the canals of

birmingham before christmas.

V is for ValueAccording to the domesday book of 1086 Birmingham was only valued at 20 shillings which is equivlilent to one sterling pound so once birmingham was worth just as much as some french fries from mcdonalds.

O is for Oliver

Outisde birmingham city hall, Oliver and a group of around 50 peaceful protestors plan to occupy the

space untill christmas in a hope to rasie awareness of there refusal to accept captitalism. They stand in solidarity with the any thousands of people who are occupying their towns and cities all across the

world. ‘ we are here because we no longer accept a corrupt system that rewards greed and causes

suffering’

E is for Ebony

During the renovation of victoria square one of the men was accopanied by his larador, Ebony he had his own high visibility jacket and was often seen carrying tools she has her own plaque.

R is for RAJRaj is Sweeping success, him and troops frequemntly clean more than 1,300 miles of roads and clear out 4,500 litter bins.This takes Birmingham to the final of the indepent cleanest city awards which they happened to win a few years ago. which Raj and workers should be proud of.

F is for FOODF is for Famous foodAll these world famous brands on this page originated from Birmingham! When John Cadbury started making chocolate In Birmingham in 1824 it was considered an aphrodisiac and not suitble for ladys! His first ever shop openened in Bull Street It sold tea, coffee, and drinking chocolate. Then in 1831 John decided to start production in a commercial scale.

C is for CANALSuprisingly Birmingham has more miles of canal than Venice! Its canal navigation system is the largest in the world! The canals were built with the assistance of engineer James brindley and is now a chamring little area full of restauraunts bars and cute shops named Brindley place.

The iconic selfridges buliding is made up of 15,000silver

discs and was inspired by the metal fabrics devised by fashion designer Paco Rabanne

T is for TAMMYTammy was mortified last year after winning a competition ‘to go to Athens’ to watch the champions league final, the Athens in question was a greek restaurent in birmingham!

According to a survey in 1999 britains most likely to make love on a beach abroad were more likely to come from Birmingham than any other UK city, the researcher put this down to Brummies being so for away from the coast that they were most excited by it!

S is for SEX

YohannYohann is one of the taxi drivers of Birmingham; his taxi was full of the number 786 which he told me his religious lucky number. He told me that every week he does the lottery using his lucky number in hope that he can take his family on a luxury cruise around the Caribbean.

L is for LEROYLeroy is one of a kind, many years ago he used to be a checkout worker at his local store, until one day two gun men raided the shop, feared for his life, through divine intervention Leroy was not hurt and till this day he is a religious man, he wonders the streets of Birmingham un-til god puts him where he needs to be. Now he is waiting for the bus.

P is for PROJECT PIGEON

P is for Project Pigeon

Recently featured on BBC 2 project pigeon is a loft down in Digbeth home to 70 pigeons! Not just any old pigeons they take part in running workshops, doing performances, curating exhibitions and race at the local pigeon club. As well as all the activities they are involved with the project also works with local communities to design and build the colourful pigeon lofts!

N is or NeilNeil is one of Birmingham’s street performers who is very talented on the guitar, he told me that he is trying to raise money to fulfill his dream of going to Cuba to swim with sharks in a shark cage.

Harry is a quite man who spends his days selling the daily mail. Harry told me that he had been on antiques road show three times, trying to find someone who will fall in love with his novelty bobble heads, Harry regrets ever investing in the items but he feels he cannot pull out now, as so many years of his life have been dedicated to the bobble heads.

X is for Xander12 years ago today Xander asked his ex partner to marry him, he bought her a cookie from the same market stall after she screamed‘ no i hate cookies ‘ tony has wondered the christmas markets of birmingham every year looking for a new lady in his life.

U is for Usher Many people may ignore this man, however when I spoke to Usher his passion for trying to sell his magazines became clear when only recently he found out he has a long lost son in Spain who is eager to meet his father. This is what drives Usher and keeps him motivated.

JefferyFor many years Jeffery was an alcoholic drinking day in day out, he funded his alcohol addiction by selling jewelry on the market. However he told us that the addiction wore off after he found an acquired taste for brake fluid, till this day he is slowly recovering.

Zelder is one of a kind! Even after being very genourous towards zelder she was still extremly grumpy, she told us she doesnt like people and which is why she is unloved and lives under a bridge in birmingham. She told us she hasnt smiled for ten years and spends her gathered money on ‘Cadburys chocolate bars’.

Z is for ZELDER

A is for AccentUnfortunately the Brummie accent has been voted the least cool accent in the country! But after talking to a few Brummie’s they seem very happy with there accent we discovered theres even a Talk like a Brummie day once a year on the 17th of July! Here are some of there favourite birmingham words and phrases!

Quinton was wondering the streets with his interesting outfit, I approached him and he was very cheery at the fact I was taking his picture. I asked do you have any interesting stories, ‘ Me and my friend in the old days were looking for poles to put up a tent, when my friend put one of the poles into the ground it triggered a land mine’ even though he told me he has a wooden leg it doesn’t stop him having a smile on his face.

Q is for Quiton

K is for KevinKevin is one of the first stall owners of the Birmingham German market, He loves selling his merchandise and has been doing so for ten years as this is the markets tenth anniversary. As well as being a stall owner, Kevin also experiments in the ancient arts of voodoo.
