Q6 Although a number of candidates did not realise the necessary outline for a box-and-whisker
plot, many other candidates showed at least some aspects correctly. A number of candidates did
not indicate the whiskers on the box-and-whisker plots and some candidates did not label their
scale

A number of candidates have insecure knowledge of working with cumulative frequency. Although
the frequency table was often correct the cumulative frequency diagram that followed was often
inaccurate, with incorrect decisions where to plot horizontally.
A number of candidates appeared to have little knowledge of box and whisker plots as been
directly connected to the values found for median, lower quartile and upper quartile.

Most candidates started off by answering part (a) correctly, but perhaps lack of confidence or
knowledge meant some candidates then did not attempt all further parts of the question.
However, many candidates answered all parts correctly.
