B-COMM ERP for SAP ERP – the Communications Software
B-COMM ERP for SAP ERP is the
software which links an SAP R/3 or SAP
ERP solution to a Kaba subsystem for
time recording, production data collec-
tion and access control. The key feature
of this software application is the SAP
certified interface, which ensures fault-
less data transfer between the individual
SAP modules and collection
devices.
The interface is continuously kept up-to-
date by means of new SAP program
developments.
B-COMM ERP for SAP ERP now
also allows communication with SAP
applications via the SAP XI server and
has a SAP-certified integration as part
of powered by SAP NetWeaver.
B-COMM ERP for SAP ERP is the first
subsystem with SAP-certified integration
for both the XML (eXtensible Markup
Language) and ALE (Application Link
Enabling) functions and XI functionality.
The supplementary portal solution is a
solution certified for powered by SAP
NetWeaver.

The Modular System – for Your Customized Solution
Additional Service
As a result of our experience from
hundreds of international installations,
we have developed add-ons for the
B-COMM ERP for SAP ERP communica-
tions software. These add-on modules
cover functionalities that are not provid-
ed within the SAP system, but are need-
ed by companies in their daily operation-
al processes. The modular architecture
of solution allows us to implement only
those modules that are actually needed.
Modular Functionality
The add-ons are designed as Intranet
applications, and run in Microsoft
Internet Explorer, Netscape, and Mozilla.
We apply state-of-the-art standards such
as http and XML.
Straightforward Installation
and Application
The same is true of possible databases.
Standards such as MSDE, MS SQL
Server, or Oracle are used.
It is irrelevant which SAP release you
have in operation, we support all of the
Release Versions from 3.1.
The graphic interfaces of the add-on
modules are similar to the functionality
of the known SAP screen masks.
The user can intuitively operate the
application very quickly.

Alarm Viewer
The Alarm Viewer shows the on-screen
alarm, status, and sabotage messages
generated by the subsystem. The
messages of all connected terminals
are listed. Necessary messages, texts,
and process instructions can be freely
configured and individually defined.

Management Console
The Management Console is the basis
for using the different add-on modules.
It is integrated into B-COMM ERP for
SAP ERP, and provides a standardized
program surface and an integrated user
administration. After being started,
the Console automatically activates all
licensed add-on modules, allowing the
client stations to access the add-ons
centrally.
With the help of a favorite filter,
recurring evaluations and inquiries
can be automated. All data fields are
available for selection. For selection, the
data fields can be selected and linked to
one another. The actual selection can
be restricted by area boundaries for the
inquiry criteria. The retrieved inquiry
data can be exported as a file, or printed
out with standard reports.
Attendance Board
The Attendance Board shows the status
of employees managed in the subsystem
and is compared with the SAP atten-
dance information (info type 2001).
Which people are shown on the board
can be set via favorites.
Attendance Management
Attendance Management includes the
seamless integration of access control,
time profile management, graphic alarm
management and booking evaluations in
SAP display layout. The Attendance
Management module forms an overall
system made up of time recording,
access control, and production data
collection devices, which integrates
and manages authorizations across the
overall system. It supports the entire
range of Kaba Benzing’s state-of-the-art
terminals.

Alarm Messages
If a terminal reports a sabotage attempt,
fast reaction times are critical. This
alarm message is shown as a pop-up.
An additional acoustic warning gener-
ates high attention. The user can define
himself which terminals should release
an alarm. If required, an SMS or e-mail
can be automatically sent to the respec-
tive security services. With this feature,
permanent monitoring is not mandatory.
Visitor Management
Visitor Management is the module for
visitor and contractor management. It
enables – independently of SAP – the
generation and management of badge
numbers and visitor cards. This allows a
non-employee to take part in the compa-
ny's time recording and/or access con-
trol, without his or her data reaching the
SAP system. Different mask profiles,
which simplify entries, are available with
this intranet application. The user sees
only input fields that he or she really
needs.

Personnel List
The screen shows the current personnel
master records of employees and
visitors from the subsystem.
Booking Monitor
Bookings are continuously displayed on
a monitor. Favorites permit the selection
of the bookings to certain terminals,
PDC groups, or cost centers. The time
interval over which the list is updated is
adjustable.
HTML Time Statement
Time statements are created on user
request on the display of the Bedanet
93 80 and B-Net 95 80. The data itself is
generated by an ABAP and integrated in
SAP’s standard reporting. Information
transmission to the subsystem takes
places via IDoc.
The advantage of this add-on is obvious.
Each employee can independently
retrieve their latest information without
having to bother the payroll or human
resource department.
Booking List
The booking list gives an overview of
all bookings managed in the subsystem.
The search via booking records (whose
retention time can be set) can be auto-
mated by means of the favorite function.
Open Door
This module is for controlling and
operating door-openers from a remote
workstation. This requires the door-
opener to be connected to a terminal
via the existing wiring system.
Encryption
Data exchange between the terminals
and the system used is encrypted. This
guarantees high data security.
Termstat
This module makes the status of
communication channels and the
connected terminals graphically visible
on the screen. Termstat does not need
to be installed on the same computer
as the channels, whose status it is
supposed to display. It can be integrated
anywhere in the network. All active
communication channels are always
displayed, as are all terminals that
currently have an error.
Individual
Cost Center Recording
One knows the problems when an
employee has to record a cost center
change for his or her next task.
Is it the correct cost center key, are the
displayed cost center lists still up-to-
date, does the employee possibly enter
swapped digits that are not noticed by
the system?
This is prevented by displaying lists
in plain text in the terminal. After the
employee has identified himself or
herself with the ID badge, he or she
can select the cost center to change
quickly and simply in his/her own
language.

In addition to the SAP PP-PDC standards

Production Data Collection
Processing starts automatically
when an In booking is made and is
interrupted/ended when an Out
booking is made.
Job Information System •
As a standard feature, the add-on PDC
options for production data collection
provides an online inquiry for every
information field provided by SAP at
the collection terminal. This includes,
for example, the current operation
status, scheduled/actual quantities and
times and deadlines for group work.
Dynamic group administration and the
creation of group messages are some
of the features.
Multi-module job change functions •
(PS, PM, PP, CS, CATS)
They involve terminating an active
process and starting a new one. They
terminate a process in one of the SAP
modules, and this message is trans-
mitted simultaneously also to other
modules for processing.
Multiple-machine operation •
This option allows for parallel
processing of a production order
on several machines.
