Near Yellowstone National Park Azita and James Hello, We are Azita and James and we have been married for seven years. Thank you for considering us as adoptive parents for your child. We can only try to imagine what you may be feeling and what important decisions you are facing. We understand what a huge decision choosing adoption is. By writing a bit about ourselves, we hope to bring you some reassurance that we are a loving couple, committed to providing a safe, supportive, nurturing, and affectionate environment for a child. We have tried to have children together without success. Now we are very excited and look forward to adopting a child. About Us Several times a year, we go to some of the many arts events in San Francisco, or we just head out to the movies when we are not watching them at home. We love international music, food, and culture and that has always been a big part of our lives. Living in a big, diverse city lets us really enjoy all of these things. San Francisco has free concerts in the summer where you can bring a picnic lunch, and we often go to the San Francisco Opera and Symphony downtown. There are also international dance festivals and concerts, including James’ choir, which we attend throughout the Bay Area. With friends at the Bay to Breakers Footrace San Francisco, CA Halloween

Azita Azita is a nurse in a large hospital in San Francisco. She has been a nurse for a long time with a breadth of experience in many settings. She has undergraduate and graduate degrees in nursing and currently works in the Gynecological Oncology Department. Azita is very conscientious nurse and cares deeply for the well being of her seriously ill patients. She plans to work part-time once we adopt so that she can take care of our child. She wants to be present in every stage of parenting.

Azita moved to the United States when she was nineteen years old and is now a U.S. citizen. She was born and raised in Tehran, Iran and speaks Farsi fluently. Azita loves cooking Persian food (like Lubia Poloh), knitting, decorating, looking for bargains, looking at open houses, visiting with friends, and catching up on the phone with her sister and her kids. She has a fun and goofy sense of humor (only to be rivaled by James) and she loves to laugh and play. Azita loves her Persian heritage and would love to teach our children how to make Persian cuisine, possibly learn Farsi and someday show them where she grew up.

James James was born and raised in Newport Beach, California. Before settling in San Francisco he lived in Belgium and Italy, and traveled throughout much of Europe. James speaks French and Italian; some German and Spanish; and practices Farsi with Azita and her family. James sings in a community choir that rehearses once a week. He is also fairly active and likes to bike all over San Francisco and other parts of the Bay Area. James plays basketball and racquetball as often as possible, and works on projects around our house as well as for friends and family.

James works as a network architect (he helps bring cabling for the Internet into new or existing buildings) although his training was in traditional building architecture. What James loves about his job is that it is unique and much needed at the same time; it affects many people, many he has never met. Most people do not know what happens once we plug their computer into the Internet! James has a flexible work schedule and works from home one day a week.

Rizzo One of our main activities is walking our dog Rizzo. He is very sweet and great with children. Rizzo is an active dog with a lot of energy, and he enjoys running and chasing tennis balls, especially on the beach. He is never satisfied until he gets to chase tennis balls for at least twenty minutes during each trip. Every couple of weeks we take Rizzo to Stern Grove (a large park in the City) or Fort Funston (south of San Francisco’s Ocean Beach), where he can play in the surf and walk around the cliffs.

As you might imagine, Rizzo is quite an attention getter, and we meet a lot of our neighbors (and their dogs) by just walking him to the park.

Our Home

Traditional San Francisco-Style Home Our neighborhood feels like a small town where we know almost everyone on the block. San Francisco is not only a city with many attractions to offer to both adults and children, but it’s very close to nature and offers a wonderful environment for children to explore. Although we live and work in San Francisco, we can often be found down the Peninsula as far south as San Jose and Gilroy where many of our friends and family reside. Our home is a colorful place with artwork (some of it done by James), as well as family photos and mementos from places we’ve visited. We put in a lot of effort into renovating our home to make it comfortable and safe for children. Our house is on a hill overlooking the East Bay and Golden Gate Park, and there are other terrific neighborhood parks within walking distance.

Our Families

We are both very close to our families. Azita’s brother, sister, and parents live nearby in San Jose. We visit with her family a few times a month. With Azita having a twin niece and nephew as well as an older niece, there are lots of birthday parties to attend and opportunities to go to the movies with the kids and parents. In the spring there is a large picnic, held near San Jose, to celebrate the Persian New Year - Norooz, which usually attracts 4000 attendees. Azita’s parents have a cat, Misha, that often likes to lounge around their house. The cat gets along very well with Azita’s nieces and nephews (and Rizzo most of the time).

James is the seventh of ten children. He has many uncles, aunts and cousins (144 first cousins). Most of his family lives in Southern California, but relatives can also be found in Seattle, St. George, Utah, Nebraska and Boston, to name a few places. We love visiting the sunny southland and other locales. Watching all of our nieces and nephews change and grow has been a great joy for us. The time we spend with them really gets us excited about having children.

We strongly believe that family means more than having a biological tie. Love and family result from creating a connection with another person, making a commitment to them and supporting them forever. We do this every day in our marriage, and will do the same with our children. Both of us are excited to take on the responsibility of being parents, and our one wish for our child is that she/he grows to be a happy and healthy person with a rich life. If you accept us as your child’s adoptive parents, we would be happy to honor any level of contact you might like to have throughout the years. We hope that you feel confident about our commitment to love your child completely and unconditionally. God bless,

Azita and James California
