Beat the heat with a summer Breeze

For a country with 9 out of 11 climate zones, it's no suprise that Azerbaijan offers a myriad of spectacular special flavors to GCC travelers.We are just out of spring and the country is witnessing one of the most memorable seasonal transitions. The season has torn across open fields, pure greenery has blossomed, flowers have bloomed and rivers are meandering across the country-depositing weathered leaves on the banks. The Azeri summers, known to hold perfect temperatures (between 21 - 30 degrees Celsius) await the GCC travelers who wish to enjoy their holidays in the gem of the Caucasus. In this edition, you will find a review of the 2012 Eurovision song contest that was

held from 22nd to 26th May in Baku. It was a great success as the competition was broadcasted throughout the world. The record number of viewers was a success-story in itself, considering the fact that a total of 63.9 million people watched the grand final of the contest. The first semi-final was seen by about 19.4 million viewers and the second semi-final attracted about 19.6 million viewers. We encourage travelers to take advantage of the close proximity of Azerbaijan to the GCC; and visit this historical yet excitingly vibrant destination, during the summer of 2012. We are also picking out a variety of activities and destinations that you will definitely want to visit Azerbaijan this summer.

The CEO of the Association of Tourism of Azerbaijan. Nahid Bagirov has steered tourism development in Azerbaijan to great heights; and today, Azerbaijan’s tourism association is recognized in all regional and international structures. The Azerbaijan Tourism Association (AZTA) was founded in 2009, when several major travel companies joined forces to create an organization with the direct support of the Ministry of Culture and Tourism. Today, AZTA boasts more than 70 travel agencies and more than 40 leading hotels in Azerbaijan. Together AZTA solves many issues for the development of internal and external tourism. The main objective of AZTA is aimed at development of tourism, training; and collaboration with the associations of foreign countries in order to address the shortcomings of the leading travel companies and hotels, and of course the expansion of international contacts in the field of tourism. Most notably, in 2001 - the Azeri year of tourism, the Azerbaijan Tourism Association was formerly accepted and recognized by the World Tourism Organization (WTO). Nahid Bagirov studied at the Azerbaijan International University, before moving to the correspondence department of the Moscow Academy of Law. At just 17, during his first year, he was hired as a secretary in the district court of Sabunchi in the Ministry of Justice. He believes that his first job offered him a lot in terms of personal development. After graduation with a second degree, he joined the faculty of International Law and Relations in Baku State University. Tourism has always been very interesting for him. At first, he took everything that happens in tourism as a hobby but, gradually, he became more interested in the sector and looked at it from a purely professional angle. From a business viewpoint, there are certain goals that he has achieved. Today, he is more interested in everything that is associated with AZTA. Its value for him is not only great, but also gives him more pleasure than business. In a bid to promote the tourism potential of Azerbaijan, we work closely with the Ministry of Culture and Tourism and support all the organizations with the same mission.

Gabalasummer escape

Gabala is one of the most ancient cities of Azerbaijan and the capital of the Qabala Rayon of Azerbaijan; with roots dating back as long as 600 years ago. Before 1991, the city was known as Kutkashen, but after Azerbaijan's

independence the town was renamed in honour of the much older city of Gabala, the former capital of Caucasian Albania, the archaeological site which is about

20 km in the southwest.

Gabala was located in the middle of the 2500 old Silk Road and was mentioned in works of Pliny the Younger as "Kabalaka", Greek geographer Ptolemy as "Khabala", Arabic historian Ahmad ibn Yahya al-Baladhuri as "Khazar". The Caucasian Albania was once occupied by Sassanid Empire but preserved its political and economic status. However, the region later lost its independence due to years of invasions from the northern nomadic tribes and had to move its capital city to Partava (currently Barda in Azerbaijan). Despite the many foreign invasions that Gabala was subjected to, the region was able to preserve its culture and identity. Due to the archeological findings in Gabala, it was declared a National State Reserve in 1985.

The epitome of East hospitality

Today Gabala has transformed into an important touristic destination with developed infrastructure, modern hotels and entertainment parks. Gabala is considered a popular tourist destination, thanks to the combination of a very good spring climate, woods along the mountains and excellent fauna was exploited by the construction of large numbers of hotels and apartments in city. The city contains "Qabaland" amusement park, an ice skating rink and a Greek-style theatre, built especially for outside concerts. June is always regarded to be the onset of the major tourism inflow in the Gabala region. However, this year, it is projected that the volume of tourism inflow will surpass the previous years. It is no coincidence that tourism inflow is not only outbound, but also inbound.In 2011, official data indicated that a total of 35,850 tourists visited Gabala, of whom 30,150 were local tourists and 5,700 were foreign visitors. Some 31,400 tourists stayed at tourism facilities, while 3,858 people were on business trips and 592 underwent treatment in sanatoria.

Figures sharply contrast with the previous years’. In 2010, 30,540 tourists visited Gabala, while in 2009 they were just 29,855 and in 2008 the figure was at just 14,630.

Currently, three 5-star, six 4-star and three 3-star rated hotels operate in this region. Gabala has announced plans to build 14 new modern hotels within the coming years, pushing the total number of hotels to 26. Since 2009, Gabala has been home to the Gabala International Music Festival, which includ performances from classical and jazz performers such as Al Jarreau and the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra.

Gabala City has an interesting cultural centre, with beautiful mosaics, a large war memorial, numerous ancient stone houses and the Rashidbek monument, which is shaped as a huge book. Another landmark is the large Qabala Radar station, on the southern horizon as seen from Gabala town.

Gabala has many mineral water springs and fountains of pure water in forests around the city and is rich with walnut and chestnut. Chestnut wood is this region's wealth. The average age of the trees here is more than 500 years, some of which have been included in the list of trees protected by the state.

There are hundreds of historical and cultural monuments in the region: Albanian temple in the village Amili of IV-VIII centuries, mosque in the village of Bum of XIX century, Ustaszhan castle in the village of Bayramkokha of IX-XIV century, mausoleum of the XVII century in the village of Shafili, Shıkhbaba pir of XVI century in the village of Hamzali, Komrad pir at the peak of mountain Komrad, Nic, Haji Garib mosque in Nij village and the residence of Bolu bey of XIX century, mausoleums of Sheikh Badraddin and Sheikh Mansur of XV century in the village Hazra.

There were human settlements in Yalovlu Mountains near the village of Nij in III-I centuries BC.Iron knives, daggers, swords, bronze rings, gold earrings, mill stones and other objects were found here. There are defensive ancient towers in the city of Gabala (IX-XI centuries), the XVIII century mosque and the mausoleum of Imam Ali (XVIII-XIX centuries), Juma Mosque, as well a big historical and ethnographic museum.

Gabala International Airport“The characteristic feature of our north-western region is that tourism potential here is very strong. But this potential may only be realized when tourism infrastructure is created and we are creating it,” so said president of Azerbaijan, Ilham Aliyev, on the inauguration of the recently constructed airport in Gabala. The airport was constructed in lieu of the massive and growing tourism potential in Gabala region. “The aim in construction of this airport is to increase and ensure the flow of tourists to the region, Gabala and surrounding regions. Considering that a very modern and wonderful tourism infrastructure has been created in Gabala and this process continues, I hope many people will be eager to come here, and direct air flights will be arranged to Gabala from other cities.”Constructed in a record time of nine months, the Gabala International Airport is able to receive any aircrafts and the runway is big enough and can stand the weight of any planes. The airport’s runway has a length of 3600 meters, and the width is 60 meter. The area of the guide way is 26000 square meters. Planes with 400-ton weight may land in this airport; with an apron area 100000 square meters.

Gabaland theme parkAnd for family oriented travelers, there is the irresistible Gabaland. Families can escape to the fabulous world of the Gabaland, where the fun never stops. The complex is home to Azerbaijan`s most-loved amusement parks with great kids attractions, special events and much more and its a part of Qafqaz hotel and resort terrority. Gabaland is the perfect destination for the whole family and the theme park is open for the whole year. The area boasts a comfortable and wide parking area, amazing mounting view, daily fresh air, delicious foods, and beautiful flower gardens. Looking at the current tourism inflow in the Gabala region, the fast-paced infrastructure development, the natural attractions, and the current bid by the government to develop social infrastructure linking Gabala to all the other regions of Azerbaijan; Gabala is by no means en-course to regain its historical status as the sought-after destination in the land of fire.It’s just a matter of time.

small Venicethe New look of boulevard

The recently re-opened Small Venice is one such important landmark in the National Seaside Park that has been renovated. This place was built in the 1960s and modeled from the city of Venice in Italy. Venice is a city in northeast Italy consisting of 117 bodies of land connected by more than 400 bridges over its 150 canals. Along the winding canals make for great walking, cutting through the center of the city. Venice is renowned for the beauty of its setting, its architecture and its artworks. The city’s traffic-free streets along the winding canals make for great walking. Similary, Small Venice Water Park in Azerbaijan is a beautiful place located in the Baku Boulevard, and was opened to visitors after years of complete renovation as a result of the Seaside National Park creative work and accomplishment. The Azerbaijan President, Ilham Aliyev, attended the opening ceremony. Reconstruction of this complex commenced in March 2011, under the orders of the Azerbaijan president after familiarization with the construction of Azerbaijani Museum of Carpets and National Applied Arts. Renovated by Venetian boat-style architecture, Small Venice is dominated by new boats, service institutions, fountains, bridges, tunnels and romantic air space. The place features three major islands

situated on an area of 10,000 square meters. The general structure of the town was maintained, but channels have been expanded, deepened and connected to the water passages; new boats were brought, additional bridges while two restaurants were built. One restaurant will offer delicious examples of Western cuisine and the other one – Eastern. This makes the area, which was a favorite spot for visitors of the National Seaside Park, one of the most beautiful corners of the boulevard. A water reservoir and a water treatment station have been set up. The treatment plant will ensure that the water is always clean and transparent. The lighting system installed along the canals, on the bridges and in the tunnels will make the place even more beautiful at night. Reminiscent of the real Venice, the “Small Venice” imparts special beauty to the capital. After the overhaul, the “Small Venice” has become more modern, interesting and attractive. This water park is en-vogue to greet Baku’s residents and guests in an entirely new and modern form. Azerbaijan’s Small Venice is surely projected to not only contribute to the beautification of the city of Baku; but it will also do much to attract tourism inflow to the maiden city.

The reconstruction and renovation work carried out in Baku in recent years has seen historical monuments restored and the many parks dotted about the city reconstructed in modern style. This reconstruction work has brought both splendour and facilities for the population’s pleasure. Today, looking at the National Seaside Park, this is a firm

favourite for not only residents of Baku but also guests.

Enabling much closer familiarization with Azerbaijan’s cultural heritage, the inimitable artifacts colorfully illustrating Azerbaijani history and culture, like the ceramic and metal items, art glass and thread, miniatures, carpets, embroidery and jewelry are displayed in the world’s best known museums or are part of private collections; are kept in the museums of dozens of countries around the world.For instance, the exhibits of the Victoria and Albert Museum in London, the Louver in Paris, the Metropolitan Museum in Washington, the museums of Vienna, Rome, Berlin, Istanbul, Tehran and Cairo include marvelous items made by the skilled hands of craftsmen from Tabriz, Nakhchivan, Ganja, Gazakh, Guba, Baku, Sheki, Shamakhi and Ordubad.

Nearly every city of present-day Azerbaijan can be called a "city of craftsmen" because in the past

each of them had a reputation far beyond the country's borders as a center of famous craftsmen: carpet weavers, jewelers, armorers, weavers an embroiders, stone carvers etc. From the ancient Louvre and Hermitage to the present day remarkable souvenirs, household utensils and hand-made jewelry; the Azerbaijan craftsmanship has not only come centuries afar, but still takes an important element in the contemporary world.The most significant forms of handcrafts in Azerbaijan took forms and major ones included metal craft, embroidery and woodcarving.

Woodcarving

Woodcarving is widely spread in Azerbaijan, decorating the design of houses. Special bars are made for windows called "shebeke" and

they are cut from wood or assembled without nails or glue from thin wooden plates. In wood carving and other types of applied art, geometrical ornament and stylized inscription of plants are dominant.

Metal Craft

As far back as 2,000 B.C ancestors of Azerbaijanis used objects made of bronze, daggers, axes, waist belts, gold ornaments, etc. in their everyday lives. As years passed on, metal craft in Azerbaijan was being perfected.

The Middle Ages are thought to be the peak of this craft development. During this period the craftsmen forged various kinds of metal armor and household objects: utensils, amazing jewelry and other samples of skillful workmanship many of which have survived up to now.

Later, the Azeri craftsmen started making headdresses and waist belts from precious metals decorated with engraved ornaments. Some ornaments on engraved objects were often combined with Arabic language inscriptions. Arabic characters supplemented the ornaments and made them even more beautiful. Azerbaijani copper craftsmen using hot forging could shape their goods any way they liked, and today, more than 80 kinds of copper items are known.

On this note, it should be noted that the basic manufacturing techniques were engraving, embossing, harasavad, shebeke, khatem karlyg and glazing.

Since ancient times the Azeri people have conveyed their life and history, feelings and dreams through handmade carpets,

rugs and knitted crafts. Through this, they can restore and cherish their old traditions.

Embroidery

Embroidery is the most ancient folk art

revealing rich spiritual world of Azerbaijani people.

The technique and a composition of Azerbaijani embroidery traces its roots

back to extreme antiquity. The beginning of Azerbaijani embroidery can be established on the basis of archeological data.

The simplest ornaments similar to the embroidered ones - straight lines and broken lines, zigzags, dot ornament, circles, triangles, diamonds - can be found on ceramic vessels of the early Bronze Age (3,000 BC).

The embroidered articles were distinguished by abundance and variety of ornaments most popular of which were flowers: a rose, narcissus, pink, poppy, lily, blossoms of fruit trees as well as ears and leaves of various shapes.

The favored embroidery patterns showed birds: a nightingale, peacock, pigeon, parrot, hoopoe, sparrow, pheasant, quail, partridge and others. From among the fauna representatives the most popular were goitered gazelles, turtles, snakes-dragons, horses, etc.

The popular household utensils were also a topic for embroidery: pink water vessels, comb cases, cosmetics bottles, jugs and others. The most widespread Azerbaijani embroidery types were: gold sewing, damask stitch, chain stitch; spangles, beads, platelet sewing, "pinning", motif, spiral embroidery and fillet work.

The most ancient of all kinds of embroidery is gold sewing. It was done on closely woven fabrics. The best

material for this was one-color velvet in red, claret, violet and green. Embroidered was also done on thin cloth of various tones, brocade, satin and morocco leather. For gold sewing they used factory-made gold or silver threads.

The most often embroidered items were outer women's wear, head wears, household articles, horse harness ornaments and smaller items. There was even a custom to include things decorated with gold sewing into the bride's dowry.

The basic fabrics for chain stitch were locally made or imported velvet and cloth of red, black and deep blue colors.

A complex and intricate pattern was executed by means of bright silk threads on a dark background. Chain stitch was not exclusively women's craft. Many men showed their great skill in this kind of applied art. First a craftsman embroidered a contour line of the future drawing on a tambour fastened material and then filled the entire internal field with embroidery.

Chain stitch was used to decorate women's wear, cushion cases, bath mats, and coverlets. Another widely used technique of embroidery was damask stitch.

This embroidery type was created by means of silk and woolen threads of soft pastel tones often in combination with gold ones. Damask stitch was applied clothes, wall ornaments, face veils, curtains etc.

Very interesting are pearls and beads embroidery patterns which decorated apparel elements, household objects etc. Spangle embroidery is the technique of sewing spangles onto a fabric along the contour of the color silk thread patterns. Motif and spiral are relatively young embroidery techniques.

Azerbaijan is famous for its carpets, but its craftwork of silk, pottery and copper also make a great souvenir to bring back with you.

A pot of caviar is also a good idea for a present! Be aware though that the export of any cultural item, even if it has no artistic value, is subject to authorisation by the Ministry of Culture and to export tax.

The Azeri-born Faig Sabir Gambarov, attributes a great deal of his work and success to inspirations by nature. He is keen to travel more, illustrate all his journeys and find his past and future through art. He was born in 1968 in Baku, Azerbaijan. After attending the Azerbaijan State University of Art and Culture, he had his first exhibition in Baku in 1986. Since then, he has been exhibiting constantly and has also been included in the important Young Artists' Exhibition at the Art Museum of Rustam Mustafayev in Baku.In 1998, he organized a solo exhibition of his work, helped by the Azerbaijan Ministry of Culture, the Artists' union of Azerbaijan, Azerbaijan French Friendship Society and the France embassy in

Azerbaijan. Gambarov has had a great interest in city creations, which he says have inspired him to work hard on his new paintings. In 2002, he organized his second solo exhibition, which left a deep impression on him and his works.Talking about his future ambitions and strategies, he says: "I have a lot of plans but the greatest dream is to travel the whole world, describe my impressions in my paintings and hold exhibitions of what I produce. I enjoy observing nature and my observations have played a great role in the creation of my work. For instance, summer is a very interesting and colorful season. Inspired by the colorful flowers on the ground, I have tried to show the comparison of these bright summer colors between each other."

How is the current trade situation between the UAE and Azerbaijan?

Trade between our two countries grew to AED 4.51 billion between 2007 and 2011 and reached AED 652 million last year. Azerbaijan is one of our major re-export markets so we intend to further strengthen our trade ties with this important partner. Bilateral trade has been picking up since, when we signed an agreement on co-operation and mutual assistance in trade and investment. We are particularly eyeing stronger collaboration in energy, agriculture, finance, banking, customs, tourism, telecommunication, transport, and intellectual property rights.

What are the investment opportunities in Azerbaijan for the people of the UAE?

The socio-economic developments and enhanced business climate of Azerbaijan have made it an interesting investment destination for UAE corporate and individual investors. Among the sectors we recommend for mutual exploration are agriculture, information and communications technology, tourism, and alternative and renewable energy sources.

How would you describe the United Arab Emirates to someone who is unfamiliar with it?

I would describe the UAE as a country that breaks the mould of typical Arab states. By focusing on economic diversification, we have been able to expand our wealth beyond oil and emerge as the region’s recognized commercial hub. One of the things we take pride in is our multicultural environment. By fostering a spirit of tolerance and respect, we have become one of the most preferred destinations for travellers, investors and businesses not only in the region but also in the world. People are pleasantly surprised to find out the many leisure, lifestyle and business amenities we offer. I would advise someone unfamiliar with the UAE to get prepared to be surprised, to expect the unexpected.

What are your top priorities as the UAE’s Minister of Foreign Trade?

When I assumed this position, one of my initial goals was to strengthen our trade relations with all countries, which has been fulfilled through the hard work of my Ministry. One of my long-standing priorities is to maintain our strong pan-Arab ties, with a particular focus on maximizing the benefits of the GCC Common Market. Aside from enhancing regional trade, the common market improves our negotiating position with other international economic blocs.In addition, I would like to fortify our commitments to the World Trade Organization as one of its most active members. The discouragement of protectionism is a top priority in this regard, given the protracted global recession. If we want to achieve quick and full recovery, then we need to stimulate the global economy rather than isolate ourselves from it.

You have given lectures around the world on gender issues and equality. Why is it important to you to talk about gender issues? What is the most important change that needs to happen to improve the treatment of women worldwide?

I agree with the popular view that a society is judged by the way it treats its women. If a country wants to achieve true progress, then it has to open up its doors wide to women. I am proud to say that my country has been very cognizant of our vital role in progress and prosperity. Our own late beloved president, Sheikh

Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, often emphasized our importance in society; as a result, women in the UAE now participate and excel in all fields, from engineering and media to finance and politics. I was given a precious chance to help in our nation’s growth and so I want to encourage women to do so as well and help those who are facing difficulties as a woman. I think that the change needs to come mostly from women themselves. In our region for example, there is that traditional notion that we can only accomplish a limited number of things. Once a woman stops setting limits to what she can do and start dreaming big, then she will achieve a lot of things.

What drives you in your work?

Everyday I have the great privilege of coming to my office and knowing that I can make a real difference in the future of my country. Everyday I celebrate my womanhood and my culture in all the things I do. My unique heritage as an Emirati and my desire for excellence instilled by my family and my mentors are what drive me in my work.

I am proud to say that my country has been very cognizant of our vital role in progress and prosperity.

New Look of Countryarchitecture

Presented as 'Best future project of Central and Western Asia', Baku, a regional city with a unique character, has been successfully transformed from the traditional Black Oil City to White City.

Following the decree of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan IlhamAliyev concerning approval of the “Plan of Integrated Action to Improve the Environmental Situation in Azerbaijan, it was decided to develop the ‘Black City’ district of Baku, and transform it into Baku White City. “Though the country already attracts a fair number of visitors from the Caspian region and neighbouring Russia, the next step is to attract a steady influx of tourists from the very countries that are represented at Eurovision. The level of the event has widened knowledge of us to the entire world,” said Abulfaz Garayev, Azerbaijan’s Minister of Culture and Tourism, ahead of the Baku Eurovision Song Contest 2012. This was the 57th annual Eurovision Song Contest, following Ell and Nikki's win at the 2011 Contest; and the festival was brought to the city of Baku in Azerbaijan. The two semi-finals were held on 22 and 24 May 2012, and the final was held on 26 May 2012 at the newly constructed Baku Crystal Hall. 42 countries announced their participation in the contest. "The guest and participants in Eurovision were treated with a free tour around Baku, according to the Azerbaijani

deputy culture and tourism minister" said Nazim Samadov.The design of the contest was built around the motto "Light your fire!” inspired by the nickname "Land of Fire", by which Azerbaijan is commonly known. The televoting system was reverted back in the 15-minute window format, used between the 1998 Contest and 2009 Contest, in which the phone and SMS lines open after all songs have been performed. Each country votes were decided by 50:50 system; they were split between televoting and a national jury.The contest was won by singer Loreen from Sweden with the song "Euphoria" which was written by Thomas G:son and Peter Boström. "Euphoria" earned a total of 372 points, placing it in the top spot. Russia finished in second place, with Serbia finishing in third. They were followed by the host country, Azerbaijan, which reached the 4th place.

An Azerbaijani sherbet (Azerbaijani: serbet) is a sweet cold drink made of fruit juice mixed or boiled with sugar, often perfumed with rose water. Sherbets (not to be confused with sorbet ices) are of Iranian origin and they may differ greatly in consistency, from very thick and jam-like (as in Tajik cuisine) to very light and liquid, as in Azerbaijan. Sherbet is

considered the most refined of soft drinks in Azerbaijan. After dinner, sherbets prepared from lemon, basil, mint, saffron, or other aromatic herbs, along with various fruits and berries, are served.

Sherbets, as a symbol of celebration, are consumed at weddings, dinner parties, banquets and similar events. They are also served with pilaf. When preparing sherbets and sweet drinks, hot or warm water and alcohol are infused with aromatic herbs for 8-12 hours, and the resulting mix is strained. Then, sugar is added; it is heated and left to cool. Other ingredients are then added according to the recipe, and, if necessary, it is strained once again, chilled and served.

Saffron Sherbet

Sugar - 120g, saffron – 0.6g, basil or mint seeds – 0.4g, water - 800ml, ice - 80g.Leave the basil or mint seeds, together with the saffron, to soak in boiled water for 3-4 hours. Then strain the resulting mixture and mix with sugar. Add the ice before serving. A teaspoon of citric acid may be added to improve the taste.

Caraway Sherbet

Caraway seeds – 0.4g, coriander seeds – 0.5g, cardamom seeds – 0.4g, sugar - 200g, water - 600ml, ice - 200g.Leave the caraway, coriander, and cardamom seeds to soak in boiled water for 3-4 hours, then strain the mixture and mix with sugar. Add the ice before serving.

Rose-Pomegranate Sherbet

Sugar - 80 g, rose water - 40 g, pomegranate juice - 400 ml, water - 500 ml, ice - 80 g.Squeeze ripe Guloysha pomegranates and strain through gauze, then mix the juice with sugar. Boil and cool the water, add 1-2 tablespoons of rose water and add this to the pomegranate juice and sugar mixture. Pour into glasses with ice cubes. Serve with tika-kebabs and lula-kebabs.

Khoshab

Sugar - 100g, dried fruit - 150g, water - 1 liter, rose water - 50ml. Pour hot, boiled water over the dried fruit (cherries, greengage plums, cornelian cherries, wild cherries, plums, peaches etc.) Leave the fruit to soak for 1 day while the water absorbs the taste, color, and flavor of the fruit. Strain the resulting mixture through gauze, mix with sugar and serve. Rose water may be added to khoshab to improve its flavor. Khoshab, as a sour-ish drink, increases the appetite and quenches a thirst. This drink is more common in the Nakhchivan region. This drink is more common in the Nakhchivan region of Azerbaijan.

Dubai Chamber of Commerce and Industry will open its second overseas representative office in Azerbaijan by the end of this year in order to explore commercial opportunities in Central Asia and the Caucasus, according to the UAE news agency. Hamad Buamim, the director general of Dubai Chamber, said the new office in Baku was part of the organisation's strategic plan to introduce its members to opportunities in new emerging markets. "We have identified Central Asia as a key market for our members. We can see the potential for new business opportunities in Azerbaijan, Georgia, Kazakhstan and other countries in the region and feel that Baku is an ideal base to expand our operations in this part of the world. At the same time, Dubai is an excellent re-export hub and a logical base for traders from Central Asia to reach major consumer markets in the Middle East and Africa, and this is something we want to promote through the Azerbaijan office," he said.

AZAL to raise Azeri tourism by route expansion

Azerbaijan Airlines (AZAL) has announced the launch of seven seasonal routes and three year-round routes; not only as a way of expanding its network but also raising the tourism profile of the Republic of Azerbaijan. AZAL’s 2012 summer schedule will see the launch of 10 new services as well as increased frequency on its existing network including services to Paris Charles de Gaulle, Prague, Milan Malpensa, Istanbul Ataturk, Anakara and Dubai. All the new routes will be launched by the beginning of July 2012 and primarily across Eastern Europe. This expansion comes as the flag carrier aims to bolster inbound leisure traffic following an effort by Azerbaijan to build up its tourism sector through the use of tourism campaigns and hosting Eurovision 2012. The airline’s operations in 2012 are projected to peak at just under 42,000 seats per week between July 2012 and Sep-2012 before dropping to just under 31,000 seats from the start of the winter season in late October of 2012.

The Azerbaijan`s embassy in Kuwait arranged a series of events to mark the RepublicDay of Azerbaijan on May 28. The event was attended by 350 participants, including members of the ruling family of Kuwait, representatives from the cabinet of ministers and parliament and well-known public figures. Azerbaijan`s ambassador to the country, Tural Rzayev, spoke in his speech about the establishment of Azerbaijan Democratic Republic (ADR) as well as reforms that are being implemented in the country; including large-scale agreements, the country`s parliament and the Armenian aggression. He commended the national leader, Heydar Aliyev, saying that he has made a great contribution to the strengthening of the Azerbaijan-Kuwait relations. He added that President Ilham Aliyev is successfully carrying this strategy ahead.The Republic of Azerbaijan and the State of Kuwait established diplomatic relations on October 10 in 1994 and later the grand opening of the Azerbaijani embassy in Kuwait in 2004. Later in 2006, the Kuwaiti embassy in Baku was opened.

وهمة. النا�س يف حول العامل لديهم ثقافات وتقاليد خمتلفة يف هذا ال�صهر الكرمي, ويف جمهورية اأذربيجان الأمر لي�س خمتلفا فامل�صلمون الأذربيجان يجهزون اأنف�صهم قبل ا�صبوع من بداية رم�صان. فهم يقومون ب�صباق اخليل يف مناطق خمتلفة يف البالد يف

يف وقت الإفطار تغطي مفار�س املوائد ببذخ باأطباق املقبالت والأطباق الرئي�صية والوجبة دائما تتكون من ثالث دورات. رم�صان اأي�صا وقت لالحتفال يبداأ الإفطار

فيه بعد غروب ال�صم�س, ودائما يتكون من التمر )وفقا ل�صنة الر�صول حممد �صلى اهلل

لالأطفال. ولتكملة الحتفال ب�صهر رم�صان, للذين اأدوا فري�صة ال�صيام باإخال�س يفطرون عند روؤية الهالل ويقومون بتبادل الهدايا واحللوى بني العائلة ويجتمعون

لالحتفال بالعيد ثالثة اأيام. وكالعادة يف اآخر رم�صان تكون عطلة عيد الفطر, و تدفع زكاة الفطر للفقراء وتقام �صالة العيد يف ال�صاحات يف اأنحاء البالد.

يعترب �سهر الربكة يف اأذربيجان والعامل الإ�سالمي, البع�س ي�سميه رمظان واآخرون يطلقون عليه ا�سم رم�سان ويفتخر الأذربيجانيون بت�سميته Orudzhlug Bairamy وكلها حتمل م�سمونا واحدا وهو �سيام ال�سهر

تربية اخليول�حتاد �لفرو�سية يف جمهورية �ذربيجان هو �مل�سئول عن تدريب �لريا�سيني ذوي �خلربة

ف�سال عن تربية �خليول موؤهلة للمناف�سة يف �مل�سابقات �لدولية . ويف �غ�سط�ص 2011 عقدت �أول بطولة وطنية لقفز �حلو�جز يف مركز )جابال( للفرو�سية بو��سطة منظمة �لن�سطة يف �لحتاد . هذه كانت �أول مناف�سة للفرو�سية على م�ستوى �لدولة �أقيمت يف

مركز )جابال( للفرو�سية.و�سارك �لريا�سيون من جميع �أندية �لفرو�سية �لعاملة يف �أذربيجان يف هذة �مل�سابقة و كان �حلكم �لعام للم�سابقة ) يو�سف بابايف(، وقد بذل �ملتناف�سون �أق�سى قو�هم ليقفزو� فوق

17 عقبة للو�سول �إىلخط �لنهاية. يف 22 يونيو 2012 �فتتحت ر�سميا م�سابقة �لفرو�سية

�ملميز، و تعترب هذة �ل�ساللة هي �ساللة خيول �ذربيجان �لوطنية حتى لو مل يوجد ح�سان كار�باخ نقي �لدم �أ�سيل يف �لوقت �حلا�سر.

�ل�ساللة معروفة مبز�جها �جليد و �سرعتها، على �سبيل �ملثال يف عام 2004 كان هناك ح�سان كارباخ ��سمه ) كي�سمي�ص ( من خيول �سباق �أجد�م يف �ذربيجان �سجل رقما

قيا�سيا يف �لرك�ص 1000 مرت يف دقيقة و�حدة و 9 ثو�ن و 1600 مرت يف دقيقة و�حدة و 52 ثانية. ف�سال عن كون هذه �ل�ساللة �سريعة ور�سيقة فان ح�سان �لكار�باخ ي�ستهر باأن لديه

قدرة جيدة على �لتحمل و�لولء ل�سيده. �ل�ساللة �سديدة �لقوة و�سلبة وثابتة �لأرجل لديها روؤو�ص �سغرية مميزة �ل�سكل ذ�ت

ق�سمات معتدلة وجبهة و��سعة و �نف، لها �أق�سى قدرة على �لتمدد و�لرقبة مرفوعة عاليا متو�سطة �لطول ع�سلية و�نيقة و لديهم �أج�سام مكتنزة وع�سالت حمددة جيد� و�لكتفان

غالبا ما يكونان م�ستقيمني متاما، �حل�سان لديه �سدر عميق و خانوق طويل و مائل ولكن لديه �ساقان قويتان جد�. بلغت �ل�ساللة �سكلها و�سفاتها �حلالية خالل �لقرنني �ل18 و 19 . هناك بع�ص �لأدلة على �أن �بر�هيم- خليل )1806-1763( �متلك ��سطبل خليول

يف الواقع, تعترب اأذربيجان واحدة من الدول القدمية التي تاأ�س�ست الفرو�سية فيها, حيث ت�سري البيانات التاريخية اإىل اأن اخليول كانت م�ستوطنة قرب منطقة ايران يف ترك�ستان. وعر�ست م�سادر اأخرى اأنها كانت م�ستوطنة يف مناطق ال�سواحل اجلنوبية واجلنوبية ال�سرقية واجلنوبية الغربية من بحر قزوين اإذ يوجد

بع�س م�ساكن النا�س الأوىل حيث كانت ت�ستاأن�س اخليول.

يف �لقرن �لر�بع �مليالدي( ويقطنها 313300 ن�سمة، وهي ثاين �أكرب مدينة يف �أذربيجان بعد باكو، وهي ر�بع �أكرب مدينة يف حميط �لقوقاز.

اآثار تاريخيةتقع �ملدينة على نهر غانكا �إىل �جلنوب من نهر كور� يف منطقة غنية بالزر�عة، ويف تلك

�ملدينة �لعديد من �لآثار �لتاريخية �لقدمية �لتي ت�ستحق م�ساهدتها مثل م�سجد �لألبانيني، وبو�بات غاجنا )�لقرنني �لعا�سر و�حلادي ع�سر( وق�سر د�ر �ل�سلطان )�لقرن �لثاين

ع�سر( و�أبر�ج مد�ر�ص �إ�سالمية قدمية، وحمامات تاريخية، و�سر�يا �لقافلة، وجممع �إمام ز�ده )�لقرن �ل�ساد�ص ع�سر( وم�سجد �جلمعة )1606 م(. و�إىل �جلنوب من غاجنا بني

غابات �ساهقة زمردية، تختبئ �لبحرية �لأزورية وغوين غو )�لبحرية �لزرقاء(. وعلى �سفوح �جلبال يحيط بالبحرية �إبد�عات طبيعية فريدة من نوعها ومنها: مدرج روماين �ألف 36 �سيكي يقطن �لغام�سة. و�لكهوف �حلجري" "�سنغيلي" و�ملغار�ت "�ل�سريك ن�سمة، وتقع يف �سمال �أذربيجان يف �جلزء �جلنوبي من �سل�سلة جبال �لقوقاز �لعظيمة، على بعد 325 كم )202 ميل( من باكو. و�لغابات �جلبلية �لتي تقع حول �ملنطقة حتمي

�ملدينة من �لفي�سانات، ومن �حلر�رة �لز�ئدة يف �أوقات �ل�سيف. وتعترب �ساكي جوهرة �ل�سفر �حلقيقي �لأذربيجاين، فهي مدينة �سغرية عند تخوم غابات �ل�سفوح �جلبلية جلبال

�لقوقاز �لعظيمة، وهي غنية بالعمارة �لإ�سالمية، وتاريخ �لطريق �حلريري وما لذ وطاب من �لطعام، و�ل�سعب �مل�سياف. هذ� هو �ل�سفر و�ل�ستمتاع بالوقت يف �لقوقاز فهي �أبهى �سورة له. وتتمتع مدينة �سيكي �ل�سغرية بالكثري �ملتعدد من �ملعامل �لتاريخية �جلذ�بة،

وعلى وجه �خل�سو�ص ذلك �لق�سر يف �سيخي )�سر�يا خان( ويعترب �لق�سر عمال من �لعمارة �لإ�سالمية مبهر� للناظرين. تقع �سيخي خان على �سفوح �لتالل حيث �لغابات �لكثيفة �لد�ئرية، وهي �ل�سفوح �لتي متتد يف �جتاه �جلنوب، ويف ذ�ت �لوقت توجد يف

�ل�سمال مبا�سرة �لقمم �ل�ساهقة جلبال �لقوقاز �لعظيمة وهي جبال تك�سو �أعاليها �لثلوج. �إن فر�ص �لرحالت �إىل �جلبال ذ�ت �ملناظر �لطبيعية �خلالبة �لنظيفة هي فر�ص ل حدود لها، وهي يف حد ذ�تها تعترب �سببا وجيها يدعوك لزيارة �ملدينة. و�أكرث من �أي �سيء �آخر، فاإن �لنمط �ملريح للحياة يف �سيخي خان يبدو جليا يف �ل�سوق �ملركزي للمدينة، ويبدو يف بيوت و�أ�سو�ق �ل�ساي �لتي جتعل من �ملدينة مكانا ودود� يدعو �ىل �لرتياح من �أي هموم عند �مل�سطافني.وتعترب ناخ�سيفان قطعة ر�ئعة قوية متما�سكة ل تنف�سل عن �أذربيجان

�ملمتدة من �لظالل �لر�ئعة جلبل �أغري )عر�ر�ت( و و�سول �إىل �ملدينة �لتاريخية �أودوباد.وبح�سب بع�ص �مل�سادر �لأذربيجانية فاإن �سفينة نوح قد حطت على �سفوح جبل عر�ر�ت

)�أو جبل غاما غايا يف ناخ�سيفان(. ومع ذلك فاإنه عندما ��سطدمت �سفينة نوح بالأر�ص كان على قمة جبل �إيالن د�غ )جبل �لأفعى( فتك�سر ج�سم �ل�سفينة. ويعرف عامل �لآثار ديفيد روحل يف كتابه )�لأ�سطورة( نهر �أر�ز باأنه �جنيل "نهر عينهون " وباأنه و�حد من

�أربعة �أنهار يف جنات عدن.

اجلنوب:تقع لينكرين يف �سمال �أذربيجان، وت�ستهر بالليمون و�ل�ساي. �ذ� كنت هناك فاإنه ميكنك

وميكن �أن تالحظ باأن �ملنطقة �لتي عرب �حلدود هي �إقليم من �إير�ن يدعى �إذربيجان – لكن كيف يكون هذ� �لكالم �ملحري؟ يقطن �أذربيجان �لإير�نية ماليني من �أ�سول �ثنية من �ل�سعب �لأذربيجاين، و�لأكرث من ذلك �لعدد بكثري يقطن �أذربيجان ذ�تها. وبالتايل كانت

يف �لقرن �لتا�سع ع�سر، كانت باكو وغاجنا و�سيماخا و�سو�سا و�ساكي و ناخيت�سيفان مر�كز رئي�سة لإنتاج �ملجوهر�ت. جمعت هذه �ملر�كز �أ�سهر

�سانعي �ملجوهر�ت �لأذربيجانيني �ملوهوبني ذوي �خلربة و�ملهارة يف �لقرن �لع�سرين، لت�سبح �أذربيجان �أحدى �أهم منتجي �ملجوهر�ت يف

�قليم �لقوقاز. ي�ستخدم �سانعو �ملجوهر�ت �مل�سهورون يف �أذربيجان �ست طرق خمتلفة

لتزيني حليهم: �لدوميا)�لت�سكيل( و�لكار��سافاد و �ل�سبكة و�خلامتقاليك و�ملاني�سيليك.

�لت�سكيل �عترب �أحد �أقدم �لطرق لتزيني �حللي؛ بينما �أعترب �ملان�سيليك �أرفع م�ستوى من فنون �ل�ساغة �لآذرية. و�لأخري ينطوي على ملء

�لأماكن �ملحفورة با�ستخد�م �سائل من �لألو�ن �لز�هية. كان ي�ستخدم �لكار��سافاد غالبا يف �لف�سة، لأن �لف�سة تعطي خطوطا �أكرث و�سوحا وبيا�سا مقابل �خللفية �ل�سود�ء. ير�سم �ل�سائغ �ل�سورة �ملطلوبة على

�سطح ف�سي منحوت من خالل �حلفر ومن ثم يقوم بتغطية �سطحه ب�سائل �أ�سود.

�مللونة. ثم ي�سقل �ل�سائغ �ملنتج �لنهائي، مما ي�سفي على �ملنتج �سكل �لف�سيف�ساء.

كانت �ملجوهر�ت يف �لقرن �لتا�سع ع�سر م�سنوعة من �لذهب و�لف�سة. وكانت تتماثل �ملجوهر�ت �لف�سية و �لذهبية متاما من حيث �ل�سكل

وطريقة �ل�سنع. وكانت �ملجوهر�ت �لف�سية، بناء على �لأغر��ص �مل�سنوعة من �أجلها، تزين بالنقو�ص وتغطى بالنيلو. و�لنيلو هو مزيج ��سود مكون من �لنحا�ص و�لف�سة و�لكربيت ي�ستخدم لرت�سيع �ملعدن

�ملنقو�ص �أو �ملنحوت. من هنا، �ملجوهر�ت �ساعدت على عمل ربط ثقايف و�جتماعي بني

�لأذريني، �ملر�أة �لآذرية لديها �جنذ�ب وح�ص جتاه �ملجوهر�ت. ومل تعد �لأ�سكال �ملتنوعة من �حللي تكميلية على مالب�سهن، بل �أ�سبحت

مييزها هو تنوع �لزخرفة و�سكل �لأبزمي.�ملجوهر�ت �ملخرمة خمتلفة متاما يف �أ�سكالها، وتظهر تفا�سيل

عديدة و�سكل تكوينها معقد. وت�ساف هذه �لتفا�سيل على �أ�سكال

يرجع تاريخ املجوهرات الأذربيجانية اإىل قرون عديدة,

عندما جاء التجار من �ستى اأنحاء العامل اإىل هذه الدولة لتجارة

املجوهرات, و�سط املنتجات الأخرى. ومنذ اأن ظهرت هذه

التجارة, اأخذت املجوهرات الأذربيجانية اأ�سكال عديدة,

طاملا �أكد على �أهميتنا يف �ملجتمع، ونتيجة ذلك �أ�سبحت �ملر�أة يف �لإمار�ت �لآن ت�سارك وتتفوق يف جميع �ملجالت، مرور� بالهند�سة و�لإعالم �إىل �لتمويل و�ل�سيا�سة،

�لدولتني وبلغت 4.51 مليار�ت درهم بني عامي 2007 �إىل 2011 فيما و�سلت �إىل 652 مليونا يف �لعام �ملا�سي.

وقد مت تعزيز �لتجارة �لثنائية بني �لبلدين عندما مت توقيع �تفاقية حول �لتعاون �ملتبادل يف �لتجارة و �ل�ستثمار، ونحن نتطلع لتعاون �أقوى يف

جمالت �لطاقة و�لزر�عة و�لقت�ساد و�ملجالت �مل�سرفية و�جلمارك و�ل�سياحة و�لت�سالت �ل�سلكية و�لال�سلكية و�لنقل وحقوق �مللكية �لفكرية.

ما هي فر�س ال�ستثمارات يف اأذربيجان لرجال الأعمال الإماراتيني؟

�إن �لتطور�ت �لجتماعية و�لقت�سادية وتطور مناخ �لعمل يف �أذربيجان جعل منها وجهة ��ستثمارية مثرية بالن�سبة للم�ستثمرين من �لأفر�د و�ل�سركات

يف �لإمار�ت، ومن بني �لقطاعات �لتي نن�سح بها هي �لزر�عة وتكنولوجيا �ملعلومات و�لت�سالت و�ل�سياحة وم�سادر �لطاقة �لبديلة و�ملتجددة.

كثرية من �لأعمال �لتجارية وخلقت فر�سا عديدة لال�ستثمار. و�أود �أن �أ�سيف �أن �أذربيجان قطعت �سوطا كبري� يف تعزيز قدر�تها

�لقت�سادية من خالل �لعديد من �لإ�سالحات �لقت�سادية و�لجتماعية و�لتنظيمية، مما جعل هذ� �لبلد �إحدى �لوجهات �لأكرث جاذبية

لال�ستثمار�ت �لأجنبية يف �لقارة �لأوروبية و�لآ�سيوية، و�أنا �أ�سجع �ل�سياح و�مل�ستثمرين �لإمار�تيني لتجربة �ل�ستقر�ر �ل�سيا�سي يف �أذربيجان

و�ل�سيافة �لتقليدية �لفريدة وديناميكية �لقت�ساد.

كيف ت�سفني الإمارات لأي �سخ�س مل ي�سبق له زيارتها؟

عندما توليت هذ� �ملن�سب كان �أحد �أول �أهد�يف هو تعزيز �لعالقات �لتجارية مع جميع �لدول، و�لذي مت حتقيقه بف�سل عمل �لوز�رة �جلاد، كما �أن �إحدى �أولوياتي طويلة �لأمد

هي �حلفاظ على رو�بطنا �لعربية �لقوية، مع �لرتكيز بالأخ�ص على حتقيق �أق�سى فائدة من �سوق جمل�ص �لتعاون �خلليجي �مل�سرتكة، ف�سال عن �أن تعزيز �لتجارة �لإقليمية

فندق الفول مون : �سركة ) هارمي �ركتيكت ( تعمل على �إعادة تخطيط �أفق جديد يف )باكو( بو��سطة م�سروعني من وحي �لقمر. �ل�سركة ت�سم )مون باي( و بحر قزوين و�لتي ت�سمل موقع )كري�سنت( و فندق )فول مون( يتكون من 35 طابقا فخما مع 104182 مرت� مربعا من �مل�ساحة و يتكون من 382 غرفة وهي �سغرية ن�سبيا من �لغرف نظر� للم�ساحة

�لكبرية للغرفة �لو�حدة فيما �سيكون �ق�سى �رتفاع 158،68 مرت� و �سيتم ربط �ملن�سة بو��سطة م�سد�ت على �سكل ثعابني )كورفاكيو�سلي( حول حدود �ملوقع لتق�سم �ىل �سقتني.

�إخلان قهرمانوف؛ و�لتي حتدث فيها عن تاريخ جمهورية �أذربيجان �لدميقر�طية �لتي تو�جدت بني عامي 1918 و1920؛ م�سري� �إىل �أن �لبالد ��ستعادت ��ستقاللها كدول لحقا يف عام 1991.

كما ذكر قهرمانوف يف خطابه �أن �ل�سيا�سات �حلكيمة ل�سعادة �لزعيم �لوطني للبالد، حيدر علييف، و�لذي توىل �ل�سلطة يف 1993، مكنت �أذربيجان يف خالل فرتة ق�سرية من �إيجاد

عالقات مع دول �لعامل، و�أن �سعادة �لرئي�ص �حلايل �إلهام علييف ��ستمر على نف�ص �لنهج. كما �ألقى �ل�سفري �ل�سوء على �ل�سر�ع بني بالده و�أرمينيا حول �إقليم ناجورنو كار�باخ، وما ترتب عليه من نتائج خطرية، و�جلهود �ملبذولة من جانب بالده حلل هذ� �ل�سر�ع. ولفت

مبنا�سبة الحتفال باليوم الوطني لأذربيجان, اأقامت �سفارة جمهورية اأذربيجان بدولة الإمارات العربية املتحدة حفل ا�ستقبال ر�سمي يف العا�سمة اأبو ظبي. وذلك يف اأفخم فنادق املدينة, ق�سر الإمارات, وذلك يف ال�سابع والع�سرين من �سهر مايو املا�سي فيما ح�سر احلفل من ال�سيوف الكرام من اجلانب الإماراتي معايل

وزيرة ال�سئون الجتماعية مرمي حممد خلفان الرومي.

العيد الوطني...مشاركة إماراتية في االحتفاالت األذرية

يذكر �أن "ز�ها حديد" تعهدت م�سروع مركز حيدر علييف �لثقايف، وهي مهند�سة معمارية معا�سرة عرفت باأنها �أ�سهر مهند�سة معمارية يف زمننا. ولقد �سمي هذ� �ملركز با�سم رئي�ص �أذربيجان �ل�سابق، كما يعد �أحد �مل�سروعات �ملثرية لالإعجاب �لتي �أقيمت حتت

رعاية "حديد".ويعترب �ملركز هيكال �سخما؛ تبلغ �إجمايل م�ساحته 110،000 مرت مربع، ف�سال عن �أنه

عالمة مميزة للحي �جلديد يف مدينة باكو. �سيخلق �لتنا�سق �لتام ل�سفوف �ملباين �إح�سا�سا باأنها بال نهاية، و�سنع �لهيكل �لد�خلي للقاعة بالكامل من �خل�سب �لطبيعي. �أما

عن �ملفهوم �ملعماري للمركز، فهو توليفة من �ملوجات، �ل�سو�ئل، طيات من �جللد، بحيث �إن كل هذه �لعنا�سر فريدة من نوعها. تربز معظم �ملباين من هذ� �ل�سائل من خالل طي

ت�ساري�ص م�ساهد �لطبيعة �ملحيطة، و�لتي متتد " لتقوم بطيها" من �لد�خل، وكل طية من تلك �لطيات مثلها �سطح �ملركز؛ فتلك �ل�سيولة و�لن�سيابية تربط بني �لثقافات �ملتعددة، يف

حني �أنها تعطي كال منهم هوية وخ�سو�سية.وي�ستعد مركز حيدر علييف �لثقايف ل�ست�سافة متحف، ومكتبة، وقاعة مومتر�ت، وقاعة

لالحتفالت، و�لفعاليات �لثقافية، �إذ ت�سم قاعة �حلفالت 2000 مقعد.�سيكون �ملتحف يف و�جهة �ملناظر �لطبيعية، م�ساهما يف �لن�سيج �حل�سري للمدينة حول �ملوقع �لنا�سىء. �سيعرت�ص �لهيكل �لزجاجي نحت يتخلله جلد خارجي و�أر�ص. �سينبثق

�لنور �لطبيعي من خالل �لو�جهة �لزجاجية.

و�ستكون �ملكتبة ناحية �ل�سمال، بحيث ت�سيطر على �ل�سوء �ملنبثق �أثناء �لقر�ءة، �سريبط ا، بني �لطو�بق �سلم طائر، كما �سيتم �لربط بني �ملتحف و�ملكتبة عن طريق �سلم طائر �أي�س

�لذي �سيو�سل من �لدور �لأر�سي، حيث �ملكتبة �إىل �لدور �لأول �ملتحف، يف حني �سيكون هناك ج�سر "طائر" عرب بهو �ملكتبة لي�سل �إىل مركز �ملوؤمتر�ت.

�سوف ي�ستوعب مركز �ملوؤمتر�ت ثالث قاعات للمحا�سر�ت ذ�ت �أحجام خمتلفة، وكلها تو�سل مبا�سرة �إىل �ساحة �ملدخل �لرئي�ص، �لذي يقع د�خل �لفر�غ �لذي خلفته طيات �جللد

�خلارجية �ملمتدة.ويف تعليق لها على �لأحد�ث �خلا�سة بهذ� �مل�سروع، قالت ز�ها حديد "لقد ق�سيت وقتا

طويال يف باكو، كي �أمتكن من �إدر�ك �لطابع �ملميز للمدينة."جتدر �لإ�سارة �إىل �أن ز�ها حديد ولدت عام 1950 يف بغد�د، ودر�ست يف ر�بطة �ملهند�سني

�ملعمارين يف لندن منذ 1972 �إىل 1977. يف عام 1980، �أ�س�ست �سركة �سركة معمارية، تعرف ب� Zaha Hadid Architects، ونفذت �ل�سركة عدد� من �مل�سروعات، مت�سمنة:

معمارية فريدة من نوعها، وفازت يف هوجن كوجن عام 1983.

وبري �سيخ بابا من �لقرن �ل�ساد�ص ع�سر يف قرية هامز�يل وبري كوم���ر�د يف قمة جب���ل كومر�د، م�سجد �حل���اج غريب يف قرية ني���ج ومقام بلو باي من �لق���رن �لتا�سع ع�س���ر، ومقامي �ل�سيخ بدر �لدين و�ل�سي���خ من�سور من �لقرن �خلام�ص ع�سر يف قرية

هزر�.كانت هن���اك م�ستوطنة ب�سري���ة يف جبال يالوفل���و بالقرب من قرية نيج يف �لقرن �لأول – �لثالث قبل �مليالد، حيث مت �لعثور عل���ى �سكاك���ني حديدي���ة وخناجر و�سي���وف وحلق���ات برونزية

و�أقر�ط ذهبية ومطحنة من �حلجارة و�أ�سياء �أخرى.وهن���اك �أب���ر�ج ح�سون قدمي���ة يف مدينة جاب���ال )من �لقرن �لتا�س���ع �إىل �حل���ادي ع�سر( وم�سجد من �لق���رن �لثامن ع�سر و�سريح �لأمام على )من �لقرنني �لثامن ع�سر-�لتا�سع ع�سر( وم�سج���د جمعة، بالإ�سافة �إىل �ملتح���ف �لنثوجر�يف �لتاريخي �لكب���ري. وت�ساه���م �لإمكاني���ات �ل�سياحي���ة يف �تاح���ة �لفر�ص �جلديدة وبالتايل تعزيز �لتنمية و�لبنى �لتحتية للمدينة، وقد تقل�ص �لفقر و�لبطالة ب�سكل كبري ب�سبب �ملكانة �ل�سياحة لهذ�

�ملكان. كم���ا ترتبط جاب���ال �أي�سا ب�سناعية منهجي���ة عملية يف قطاع �ل�سياح���ة، فيم���ا حتت�سن فعالي���ات ومعار����ص �سياحية ر�ئدة

ي�سارك فيها �سنويا عدد كبري من دول �لعامل.وميت���از �س���كان �ملدين���ة بخربة و��سع���ة وكب���رية يف �لتعامل مع �ل�سي���وف �لذين يفدون �إليها من كاف���ة �أنحاء �لعامل كل عام، حت���ى �أ�سبح ي�سار �إليهم بالبن���ان يف كرم �ل�سيافة و�ل�ستقبال

و�لبت�سامات �لد�ئمة �لتي ت�سعد �ل�سياح و�لزو�ر.وت�سري �أحدث �لح�س���اء�ت و�لتوقع���ات، �إىل �حتمالت زيادة ع���دد �ل�سي���اح �إىل ه���ذ� �مل���كان لالط���الع عل���ى ثقاف���ة �ملكان و�مكانيات���ه �ل�سياحية و�لرت�ثية و�لثقافي���ة جنبا �إىل جنب مع

ق���ال رئي�ص �أذربيج���ان، �إلهام علييف، يف �فتت���اح �ملطار �لذي �أن�س���ئ موؤخر� يف جابال: " �إن �ل�سمة �ملميزة لالإقليم �ل�سمايل �لغرب���ي لدينا هي �أن �ملقوم���ات �ل�سياحية �ملوجودة قوية جد�. وم���ع ذلك، كل هذ� يتوق���ف حتقيقه على �إمكاني���ة �إن�ساء بنية حتتية �سياحة، و�إننا نعمل على ذلك." مت �ن�ساء �ملطار متا�سيا مع �ملقومات �ل�سياحية �ل�سخمة و�ملتنامية يف منطقة جابال."

" �إن �له���دف م���ن بناء هذ� �ملطار هو زي���ادة و�سمان تدفق �ل�سي���اح �إىل �إقلي���م جاب���ال و�ملناط���ق �ملحيط���ة. وبالأخ���ذ يف �لعتب���ار �إن�ساء بني���ة حتتية �سياحية حديث���ة ور�ئعة يف جابال وم���ن �أجل ��ستمر�ر ه���ذه �لعملي���ة، فاإنني �آم���ل �أن �لكثري من �لنا�ص �سوف تك���ون حري�سة على �ملجيء �إىل هنا، و�سوف يتم ترتيب رحالت جوية مبا�سرة �إىل جابال من �ملدن �لأخرى."

مطار جاب���ال �لدويل، و�لذي مت بناوؤه يف ف���رتة زمنية قيا�سية وه���ي ت�سعة �أ�سهر، ��سبح قادر� على ��ستقبال �أي طائر�ت كما �أن م���درج �ملطار كبري مبا فيه �لكفاية لكي ي�ستوعب �أية طائرة ب���اأي حجم ووزن. ويبلغ طول هذ� �مل���درج 3600 مرت، وعر�سه 60 م���رت�. وتبل���غ م�ساح���ة دليل �لهب���وط 26000 م���رت مربع. وميك���ن لطائر�ت تزن 400 طن �لهب���وط يف هذ� �ملطار، حيث

تبلغ م�ساحتها �ساحة �ملطار 100000 مرت مربع.كما مت �أي�سا �إن�ساء طريق موؤدية �إىل مطار جبال �لدويل حيث

مت بناوؤها بدقة ويتوقع �أن متتد �إىل حدود �لبلقان.

تذوق �ملطبح �لأذري �ملتميزو�ليوم، لق���د حتولت جابال �إىل وجهة �سياحية هامة ذ�ت بنية حتتي���ة متطورة و�لفنادق �حلديث���ة و�حلد�ئق �لرتفيهية. وتعد جابال مق�سد� �سياحيا مف�سال ، بف�سل �ملناخ �لربيعي �ملعتدل و�لغاب���ات �ملمت���دة على ط���ول �جلب���ال و�حليو�ن���ات باأنو�عها �ملختلف���ة �لنادرة حيث مت �ل�ستفادة م���ن كل هذ� و�إقامة عدد كبري من �لفنادق و�ل�سقق �ل�سكنية يف �ملدينة. وحتتوي �ملدينة عل���ى متنزه "قابالند" وحلبة للتزلج على �جلليد وم�سرح على

�لطر�ز �ليوناين مت بناوؤه خ�سي�سا للحفالت �خلارجية.ود�ئما م���ا ي�سهد �سهر يوني���و بد�ية تدفق �ل�سياح���ة �لرئي�سية يف منطق���ة جاب���ال. وم���ع ذل���ك، ه���ذ� �لع���ام، من �ملتوق���ع �أن يتجاوز حج���م تدفق �ل�سياحة م���ا كان يف �ل�سن���و�ت �ل�سابقة. و�إن���ه لي�ص من قبي���ل �مل�سادفة �أن يكون حج���م تدفق �ل�سياحة لي����ص فقط من �خلارج، بل �أي�س���ا من �لد�خل. يف عام 2011، �أ�س���ارت �لبيانات �لر�سمي���ة �إىل �أن �إجمايل عدد �لز�ئرين من �ل�سي���اح �إىل جابال بل���غ 35،850، منه���م 30،150 من �ل�سياح �ملحليني ونح���و 5،700 من �لزو�ر �لأجانبولق���د �أقام ما يقرب م���ن 31،400 �سائ���ح يف �ملر�ف���ق �ل�سياحية، بينم���ا وفد حو�يل 3،858 �سائ���ح يف رح���الت عم���ل و 592 يف رح���الت عالجي���ة. وه���ذه �لأرقام على �لنقي�ص متاما مل���ا كانت عليه يف �ل�سنو�ت �ل�سابق���ة. ففي ع���ام 2010، ز�ر جابال حو�يل 30،540 �سائح، ويف عام 2009 كان عدد �لزو�ر 29،855 �سائح، ويف عام 2008

بلغ عددهم 14،630 �سائح فقط.وحالي���ا، يعم���ل يف هذه �ملنطق���ة فنادق من فئ���ات 5 جنوم و4 جن���وم و3 جنوم. ولق���د �أعلنت جابال عن خط���ط لبناء �أربعة ع�س���ر فندقا جدي���د� على �أحدث ط���ر�ز يف غ�س���ون �ل�سنو�ت �لقادم���ة، لك���ي ي�س���ل �إجمايل ع���دد �لفن���ادق �إىل 26 فندقا. وجتدر �لإ�سارة �أي�س���ا �إىل �أنه بغ�ص �لنظر عن �لأذربيجانيني و�لرو����ص وو�للزغي���ان؛ ف���اإن جاب���ال تعت���رب وحده���ا موط���ن

لنحو4،000 �أودين�ص من 10،000 من �سكان �لعامل.من���ذ ع���ام 2009، �أ�سبح���ت �ملدينة ه���ي �مل�سيف���ة " ملهرجان جاب���ال �لدويل للمو�سيقى" �لذي ي�سم عرو�سا لفرق مو�سيقى �جل���از و�ملو�سيقى �لكال�سيكية من �أمثل���ة �ل�جارو و�لورك�سرت�

�لفيلهارمونى �مللكي.كم���ا يوج���د يف مدينة جابال مرك���ز ثقايف ر�ئ���ع، ي�سم �أعمال م���ن �لف�سيف�ساء �ل�سوفياتية �جلميل���ة وذكرى �حلرب �لكبرية و�لعديد م���ن �ملنازل �حلجري���ة �لقدمية ون�س���ب ر��سيدبيك، �ل���ذي ياأخذ �سكل كتاب �سخم. وم���ن �ملعامل �لأخرى �مل�سهورة يف مدين���ة جبال حمط���ة ر�د�ر جابال �لكب���رية، �لتي تظهر يف

�لأفق �جلنوبي من مدينة جابال.وت�س���م جابال �لعديد م���ن ينابيع �ملياه �ملعدني���ة ونو�فري مياه نقي���ة يف �لغاب���ات �ملوجودة ح���ول �ملدينة و�لت���ي تزخر باجلوز و�لك�ستن���اء. ويع���د خ�سب �لك�ستناء مبثابة ث���روة هذه �ملنطقة. وبيل���غ متو�س���ط عمر �لأ�سج���ار يف هذه �ملنطق���ة �أكرث من 500 �سن���ة، وق���د مت �در�ج �لبع�ص منها يف قائم���ة �لأ�سجار �ملحمية

من قبل �لدولة.هناك �ملئات من �ملعامل �لتاريخية و�لثقافية يف �ملنطقة: �ملعبد �لألب���اين يف قرية �أميلي و�مل�سيد يف �لق���رن �لر�بع �إىل �لثامن، وم�سج���د يف قري���ة بوم و�لذي يرج���ع �إىل �لق���رن �لتا�سع ع�سر وقلعة �أو�ستا�سزهان يف قرية باير�مكوخا من �لقرن �لتا�سع �إىل �لر�بع ع�سر و�سريح م���ن �لقرن �ل�سابع ع�سر يف قرية �سافيلي

جاب���ال م���ن �أهم �ملقا�سد �ل�سياحي���ة �ل�سهرية، حيث تقع �سمال غرب باك���و. وعلى طول �لطريق ميكن���ك م�ساهدة خمتلف قطعان �لأغنام و�ملاعز و�لأبقار و�خليول عرب �ملر�عي �خل�سر�ء، فيما

ميكنك �ل�ستمتاع بتناول كوب من �ل�ساي �ل�ساخن.جاب���ال هي �ملدين���ة �لأكرث قدما يف �أذربيج���ان، حيث يرجع تاريخه���ا �إىل 600 عام. وتعر�ست م���ر�ر� وتكر�ر� لغزو�ت خارجية مدمرة. ولكن، عل���ى �لرغم من ذلك، فقد حافظت هذه �ملدينة

على ما�سيها �لعريق. وتق���ع كاب���ال يف منت�س���ف طري���ق �حلرير �لق���دمي )�سيلك رود( من���ذ 2500 ع���ام، ولقد ذكرت يف �أعم���ال بليني ياجنر با�س���م "كابالكا"، و�أي�س���ا عرفها �جلغر�يف �ليون���اين بطليمو�ص با�سم

"خاز�ر". با�سم �لبالدهوري �أحمد بن يحيى �لعربي �ملوؤرخ عرفها كما "كابال"، يف �ل�ستين���ات قبل �ملي���الد، هاجمت لق���و�ت �لرومانية "�ألباني���ا �لقوقازية"، لكنه���ا مل تنجح يف �ل�ستي���الء عل���ى �إقليم كاب���ال. ويف 262، وقع���ت �ألباني���ا �لقوقازية حتت �حت���الل �لإمرب�طورية Sassanid ولكنه���ا �حتفظ���ت مبركزه���ا �ل�سيا�سي و�لقت�س���ادي. ويف 464بع���د �مليالد، فقدت

��ستقالله���ا نتيج���ة للغ���زو عليها من �لقبائ���ل �لبدوية �ل�سمالي���ة �لذي د�م ل�سن���و�ت، �لأمر �لذي ��سطرها لنقل عا�سمتها �إىل بارتافا )�لتي تعرف حاليا با�سم برد� يف �أذربيجان(. ولقد �حتلت كاب���ال م���ن قبل �لعديد من �أمثلة مل���وك �سريو�ن Fariburz ، �مللك �جلورج���ي ديفيد �لثالث من ت���او يف 1120، خ���ان �ملغول تيمور لن���ك عام 1386، �ل�سف���وي �ساه تاهما�سي���ب �لأول يف 1538، و�لفار�س���ي ن���ادر �س���اه يف 1734 ومع كل ه���ذ� ظلت قادرة عل���ى �حلفاظ على ثقافته���ا وهويتها. وبع���د وف���اة نادر �س���اه يف 1747، مت تق�سيم �أذربيج���ان �إىل �أقاليم )خان���ات( و�سالطني م�ستقلة و�أ�سبح���ت كاب���ال �سلطنة كوتكا�سني. ومت �س���م كابال �إىل منطق���ة Nukha uyezd يف حمافظة Elisabethpol. ونظر� لالكت�سافات �لأثرية يف جابال، مت �عالنها حممية وطنية يف عام 1985.

جابال واحدة من اأ�سهر املدن القدمية يف اأذربيجان وعا�سمة املقاطعة كابال لأذربيجان, ذات جذور ترجع اإىل 600 عام م�ست عندما كانت املدينة عا�سمة لألبانيا القوقازية. قبل عام 1991, كانت املدينة

تعرف با�سم كوتكا�سني, ولكن بعد ا�ستقالل اأذربيجان مت ت�سمية املدينة بذلك ال�سم تعظيما لأقدم مدينة جابال وهي العا�سمة ال�سابقة لـ "األبانيا القوقازية", ومتتاز مبوقعها الأثري الذي يقع على بعد

حوايل 20 كم يف اجلنوب الغربي.

قاد ناهد باجريوف تنمية �ل�سياحة يف �أذربيجان �إىل حد كبري ؛ و�ليوم ر�بطة �ل�سياحة �لأذربيجانية معروفة يف جميع �نحاء �ملناطق

)AZTA( لإقليمية و�لدولية. تاأ�س�ست ر�بطة �ل�سياحة �لأذربيجانية�يف عام 2009، عندما جمعت �لعديد من �سركات �ل�سفر �لرئي�سية

قو�ها وقررو� �إن�ساء منظمة بدعم مبا�سر من وز�رة �لثقافة و�ل�سياحة. �ليوم، ت�سم AZTA �أكرث من 70 وكالة من وكالت �ل�سفر و �أكرث من

40 فندقا من �لفنادق �لكربى يف �أذربيجان. معا ميكننا حل �لعديد AZTA من �لق�سايا لتنمية �ل�سياحة �لد�خلية و�خلارجية. وهدف

�لرئي�سي هو تطوير �ل�سياحة و�لتدريب؛ و�لتعاون مع �جلمعيات �لدولية �لأجنبية ملعاجلة �أوجه �لق�سور لل�سركات و�لفنادق �لر�ئدة، وبطبيعة

�حلال �لتو�سع يف �لت�سالت �لدولية يف جمال �ل�سياحة. �أبرزها، ذربيجاين لل�سياحة، كانت ر�بطة �ل�سياحة يف عام 2001، �لعام �لأ .)WTO( لأذربيجانية معروفة م�سبقا ملنظمة �ل�سياحة �لعاملية�ناهد باجريوف تلقى تعليمه يف جامعة �أذربيجان �لدولية، قبل �أن

ينتقل �إىل �إد�رة �ملر��سلة يف �أكادميية مو�سكو للقانون عندما كان عمره 17 �سنة، خالل �ل�سنة �لأوىل له عمل ك�سكرتري يف حمكمة مقاطعة �سابون�سي يف وز�رة �لعدل. وهو يعتقد �أن وظيفته �لأوىل كانت �سببا يف تنمية �لكثري من قدر�ته �ل�سخ�سية. وبعد �لتخرج بدرجة ثانية،

�لتحق بكلية �لقانون و�لعالقات �لدولية يف جامعة باكو �حلكومية. �أخذ ناهد باجريوف على عاتقه تنمية �ل�سياحة، كانت د�ئما �ل�سياحة من �هتماماتي. يف �لبد�ية كنت �أتخذ كل ما �أفعله يف جمال �ل�سياحة على

�سبيل �لهو�ية، ولكن تدريجيا، �أ�سبحت �أكرث �هتماما بهذ� �لقطاع، و�أ�سبحت �أنظر �إليه من ز�وية مهنية بحتة. من وجهة نظر عملية،

هناك بع�ص �لأهد�ف �لتي حققتها. و�لآن �أنا مهتم �أكرث بكل ما يخ�ص ر�بطة AZTA �لقيمة بالن�سبة يل لي�ست كبرية فقط، ولكنها �أي�سا

تعطيني متعة �أكرث من �لعمل. �أنا وزمالئي يف �لر�بطة نريد حتقيق �أعلى نتائج يف تطوير �ل�سياحة يف بلدنا و�سنحاول بذل كل جهد ممكن لتحقيق هذ� �لهدف. بالتعاون مع معهد �ل�سياحة، قمنا باإعد�د برنامج

لتدريب �لعاملني يف جمال �ل�سياحة. ونخطط �أي�سا جلذب �خلرب�ء من معهد )AHLEİ( �لأمريكي �ل�سهري، و�لتي �ستكون دفعة كبرية لعملية تدريب موظفي �ل�سياحة يف بلدنا. يف حماولة لتعزيز �إمكانات �ل�سياحة يف �أذربيجان، نعمل عن كثب مع وز�رة �لثقافة و�ل�سياحة، ونوفر �ملو�د

�لرتويجية جلميع �لفنادق و�لوجهات �ل�سياحية.

انتهى للتو ف�سل الربيع والآن ت�سهد البالد اأحد التغيريات املو�سمية التي ل تن�سى. هذا املو�سم يحدث فيه ازدهار يف احلقول املفتوحة و اخل�سرة النقية قد اأثمرت و الزهور تفتحت والأنهار تتدفق يف

جميع اأنحاء البالد واأوراق ال�سجار على �سفافها.

من املعروف اأن درجات احلرارة خالل ال�سيف يف اذربيجان ممتازة )ترتاوح بني21 - 30 درجة مئوية( يف انتظار �سياح دول جمل�س

التعاون اخلليجي, الذين يرغبون يف ال�ستمتاع بالإجازة يف جوهرة القوقاز اأذربيجان.

�سوف جتد يف هذا الإ�سدار ا�ستعرا�سا مل�سابقة يوروفيجن لالأغاين لعام 2012 التي عقدت يف الفرتة من 22 اإىل 26 مايو يف باكو.

وحققت امل�سابقة جناحا كبريا لأنها و�سلت مبا�سرة اإىل جميع اأنحاء العامل. وكان عدد امل�ساهدين القيا�سي جناحا يف حد ذاته, نظرا اإىل اأن اإجمايل امل�ساهدين كان 64 مليون �سخ�س �ساهدوا احلفل النهائي

للم�سابقة, وكان عدد م�ساهدي الن�سف النهائي الأول حوايل 20 مليون م�ساهد والن�سف النهائي الثاين جذب حوايل 19.50 مليون

م�ساهد.

ونحن ن�سجع ال�سياح لال�ستفادة من التقارب ال�سديد بني اأذربيجان ودول جمل�س التعاون اخلليجي؛ وزيارة هذه الوجهة التاريخية

املثرية التي لتزال ناب�سة باحلياة, خالل �سيف 2012. و اأي�سا ننتقي جمموعة متنوعة من الأن�سطة والوجهات, التي �سوف جتعلك

بالتاأكيد تتوق اإىل زيارة اأذربيجان خالل هذا ال�سيف.
