MESSAGE
In behalf of my beloved family and the entire Sangguniang Panlungsod of Borongan, I wish to extend my sincerest salutations to the members of the Ay Borongan Organization as we celebrate once again God’s goodness and blessings through our annual commemoration of the birthday of our beloved Patroness, the Blessed Virgin Mary, on September 8, 2010.
With a fresh mandate as City Vice-Mayor, it is my commitment to fully work hand in hand with the Honorable Mayor and her entire Department in order to pursue the visions and goals for the City of Borongan. This is in accordance with my intention to pursue the various plans that we have set when this municipality was granted the status of a City. Amidst the continuing fi ght for our right for the recognition of our cityhood we shall never fail to address the needs of our constituents in accordance with our present capabilities.
As we continue with our programs, projects and activities geared towards the fulfi llment of our vision for a truly developed and progressive City of Borongan, we must never fail to recognize the unseen hand of God in every effort and every success. We must never forget that only in acknowledging His part in all our endeavors will we ever and truly achieve the dreams and hopes for our beloved hometown.
In addition, we also wish to extend our gratitude to every Boronganon – wherever they may be – who actively share whatever they can for the continued development of our beloved City. It is my belief that together we can overcome all the challenges that lie ahead and it is my hope that we shall continue to work together in order to fully realize the vision of a truly progressive Borongan!
Maupay nga pagsalin-urog han kapiyestahan han aton minahal nga Patrona, an Birhen Maria.

MESSAGE
MAUPAY NGA PATRON HA IYO NGATANAN!
It is my distinguished privilege to welcome everyone to the 15th Ay Borongan fiesta celebration in honor of the Nativity of Blessed Virgin Mary. We are grateful to our Hermanos and Hermanas this year, for spearheading the preparations for this celebration and for ensuring that all our guests will have a good time and a memorable experience today.
For us who reside here in the tri‐state area of New York, New Jersey, Connecticut and the neighboring states, it has become our tradition to celebrate our town fiesta, on the last Saturday of September, to give our members who go to the Philippines for the fiesta, a chance to join and celebrate with us in this important event. This year, some of our members went home to Borongan to bring in good cheers and give rice and dry goods and small cash to 100 indigent families, through our humanitarian outreach program. We also had this program the other year when our members went home to do the same, to 50 families belonging to the poorest of the poor of our town. Likewise this year, we are blessed to have the opportunity to partner with the Diocese of Borongan in putting together TELERADIO, a TV channel in our hometown. Our members who were in Borongan for the fiesta, turned over to Bishop Crispin Varquez the initial TV equipment needed to set up the channel. TELERADIO will be fully operational this month in time for the Golden Jubilee Celebration of the Diocese. Through this project, we can reach out and help more of our brothers and sisters back home, through a more holistic approach via educational and evangelical programs on TV. In July this year, our organization also donated an amount towards the building of the Retirement Home for our priests in Borongan. Pictures of the ongoing construction of this building are posted on Facebook, for everyone to see.
As in the past, AY BORONGAN will continue to help our church and the needy of our hometown through various projects.
In the meantime, WELCOME to our Borongan Fiesta Celebration, partake of the banquet of sumptuous food we prepared for you, put on your dancing shoes and enjoy the day!
Grace Baquilod
President

A Brief History of Ay BoronganAY BORONGAN ASSOCIATION was born out of the need of Boronganons residing here in the tri-state area of New York, New Jersey and Connecticut and neighboring states, to coordinate the yearly preparations for the town fi esta of Borongan.
Informally organized in 1995, the small group of families that regularly met for social functions, decided to elect Carling Campo as its fi rst president in 1996. Realizing that the members also wanted to do more than just prepare for the fi esta, the group decided to meet more often and expand its organizational purposes by committing to provide fi nancial assistance to projects of the Diocese of Borongan. Notably, the association was able to help, though modestly, in the construction of the Nativity of Our Lady College Seminary in Borongan.
A few years back, Ay Borongan also sent out cash donations to fl ood victims of Dolores and Suribao. Two years ago, it set up its humanitarian outreach program and gave away rice, dry goods and cash to 50 indigent families. This year, aside from giving again rice, dry goods and cash to 100 families, Ay Borongan also raised funds to help 2 major projects: the building of the Priests’ Retirement Home and the Teleradio of the Diocese of Borongan.
The First Hermano and Hermana of Ay Borongan were Nalding and Edith Raagas who also hosted the fi rst fi esta celebration at their house in Long Island, New York, in 1995. Later on from 1996 to 2004, St. Maximillian Kolbe Church in Toms River, New Jersey became the regular venue for the annual fi esta celebration.
Fr. Nilo Apura who was then assigned to this parish, made arrangements for the free use of the church building and facilities. 1n 2005 and 2006, the organization tried other venues but in 2007, it went back to St. Maximillian Kolbe Church, when Fr. Sheldon Amasa was assigned there. Since then, Ay Borongan had been using the same venue for its fi esta celebration.
Carling Campo became the fi rst president of Ay Borongan in 1996 and served as such until his retirement and relocation to another state. Blas Balano succeeded in the presidency and a few years later, Grace Baquilod was elected as president.
Every year, Hermanos and Hermanas for the fi esta celebration are selected. Part of the preparations for the fi esta are the novenas to our Blessed Mother. The Image of Mama Mary, in the arms of her mom St. Anne, is brought to the homes of each member, on a scheduled rotation.
Meetings are held as needed, usually during social activities like birthdays and other informal get- togethers. In these meetings, plans and projects involving the association are discussed.
In due time, AY BORONGAN will acquire its juridical personality when it registers as a non-profi t organization.

A Psalm of David
Psalm 23The LORD is my shepherd, I shall not be in want.
He makes me lie down in green pastures,he leads me beside quiet waters,
He restores my soul.He guides me in paths of righteousness
for his name’s sake.
Even though I walkthrough the valley of the shadow of death,
I will fear no evil,for you are with me;
your rod and your staff, they comfort me.
You prepare a table before mein the presence of my enemies.
You anoint my head with oil;my cup overfl ows.
Surely goodness and love will follow meall the days of my life,
and I will dwell in the house of the LORD forever.
Greetings from
LILY IMPARATO
Do not be anxious about anything,
but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.
-- Philippians 4:6-7
