of skills over the last four weeks. A big thank you to Emma and her staff for providing a fantastic program.
GOOD BYE MRS E
Last Friday we thanked Edith Theuns for all of her work in our Prep / Grade One classrooms. Mrs E joined us
last year and worked with Ms Saunders and the Prep class. This year she continued to work with Ms Saunders,
helping the Prep / Grade One class. Mrs E made the hard decision to accept a position that was offered, away
from education. We wish her all the best in her new job and look forward to catching up with her again in the
future.

FOSTERVILLE MINE OPEN DAY Thank you to everyone who volunteered at the Fosterville Mine. It was impressive to see everyone working
together to keep up with the high demand for the BBQ. We greatly appreciate the support of Fosterville Mine,
Axedale Events Committee and our parent and friend volunteers. SCHOOL COUNCIL
At the Annual General Meeting for School Council on Tuesday night, I had much pleasure in presenting our
Annual Report for 2018. In the Annual Report we were able to report on a range of student and school data,
and make comparison with state averages and ‘like schools’. Like schools are schools of similar size, similar
rurality and similar socio-economic profile.
Areas covered include Student Achievement, Student Engagement & Student Well Being. Data is drawn
from parent, student & staff surveys, as well as NAPLAN results & teacher judgements from Student
Reports.
A copy of the Annual Report is available at the Office to browse through if required. I would be happy to
make some time for a detailed look through if anyone would like that.
Also at the AGM, Office Bearers for 2019 were elected and are as follows:-
President Anna Johnson
Vice President Fiona Bradshaw
Treasurer Lisa Evans
Minute Secretary Steve Christensen
A big thank you Helen Lennon and Lara Bathurst for their commitment to School Council over the last few
years.

MOBILE PHONE RECYCLING
Axedale Primary School is a keen supporter of Zoos Victoria mobile
phone recycling complain.
They're calling you aims to raise awareness of the threats gorillas face
from mining while raising money to support primate conservation and
divert phones from landfill.
All smart phones, mobile phones, tablets and accessories such as
chargers in ANY condition are accepted.
To protect data, it is recommended to conduct a factory reset before
donating your phone.
Let's support endangered species programs and donate any phones that
are hanging around your house..... they are full of heavy metals that can
be recycled!! The phone collection tub is located across from the school
office on the sports memorabilia display area.
Thanks
