in my house…all the warm woolly blankets are
on the beds, hot water bottles are lined up every
night to be filled…..and in the kitchen nothing
gives me a warmer feeling than to cover dishes
with a light fluffy pastry blanket. Aaaah, pies,
there is just such a hidden message in every pie
you serve. It says to your guests: “I took time to

industry. After many years at the Barlow’s
Rustenberg Estate, he then became GM at
Backsberg. He has had a wide range of
experience from working with absolutely top end
wines to UK supermarkets. In 2001 he brought
out his first wines under his own label. Last year
he opened the Darling Wine Shop which is a
focus point of the regions wines. He is Secretary
of the Stellenbosch Wine circle and founder of
