Features FLEXIBILITY Any of the AFS screens can be configured as an EFIS (EF), Engine Monitor (EM) or both if hardware modules (EE) are installed in the same screen. Connect an EFIS screen with an Engine Monitor screen using the Advanced Avionics Bus and you can display the EFIS, Engine Monitor, or both on either screen. You can even connect an “EE” screen with an “EF” screen giving you a system with multiple Attitude Heading Reference Systems (AHRS). The optional Angle-Of-Attack module can be added to the screen giving you our superior and proven AOA technology on the EFIS display.

AHRS To assure that we provide our customers with the safest, most reliable and highest quality AHRS-Magnetometer solutions, AFS incorporates an embedded uncertified-version of the TSO’d Crossbow AHRS that is widely used in Glass Cockpit avionics upgrades for Part 23 aircraft. The embedded AHRS and its companion Remote Magnetometer are built in Crossbow’s FAA MIDO approved manufacturing facility, where automated state-of-the-art dual-axis ovenized rate tables ($250,000 each), thermal chambers and Helmholtz cages per-form extensive calibration, test and 100% verification of performance and reliability prior to being incorporated into the EFIS. Each AHRS is run through the temperature and calibration chamber for 10 hours, at two separate times during the manufacturing process to assure accuracy and reliability. Highly accurate inertial sensors used in the AHRS ensure that the AFS-EFIS system main-tains high safety and precise performance even during the loss of, or degraded, GPS signal. In addition to products developed for Experimental aircraft, military weapons systems and UAVs, Crossbow AHRS products have been certified by the FAA for use in over 600 types of aircraft including GA, VLJ, BizJet and Rotary Wing applications.

Battery Backup Our systems are designed to run for over an hour, in the event of an electrical failure, using the internal Lithium battery. The battery is continually recharged by the EFIS. The internal battery also will power the EFIS when the voltage drops on an engine start.

Voice Alerts All of our systems have a full-featured voice alert system. Lose oil pressure, for instance, and you will immedi-ately hear “Check Oil Pressure.”

Mapping Our ADVANCED Moving Map will interface to most external GPS receivers giving you a large and easy to read display. It currently dis-plays public and private airports, terrain, obstacles, airspaces, state lines, navigational beacons and intersections. Airport information is also dis-played; including runways, frequencies, traffic patterns, elevation, pattern altitude and fuel availability. Add our optional XM receiver module for XM Weather. Traffic can be displayed on the map from a Zaon XRS or Garmin GTX 330 Transponder.

EFIS HSI Truly WAAS Compatible Our Patent Pending display integrates aircraft heading with GPS, VOR, Localizer and Glide Slope information. Garmin’s new WAAS enabled 430 has substantially differ-ent software from non-WAAS 430 units. AFS has extensively tested the new Garmin 430W and 530W units with our EFIS systems in multiple configurations (i.e. single and dual screen EFIS with 430W, 530W, SL30, 496, Zaon Traffic unit, etc.). AFS has performed numerous ac-tual ILS and LPV approaches to verify that our 430W interface truly works, including the ability to send OBS Course and heading data from the EFIS back to the 430W. AFS systems also auto-migrate the flight plan and approach from the 430W to our map screen.

Weight & Balance Allows you to calculate your W&B in seconds.

Why AOA is the Better Way to Fly

Nearly one-half of experimental and over one-fourth of certified aircraft fatalities are the result of stalls and spins. The killer-turn from base to final, distractions from “flying the aircraft” and lack of raw AOA information all contribute to these statistics. Gaug-ing angle-of-attack is the pilot’s best tool for monitoring aerodynamic performance. Best glide, maximum range, approaches and stalls are all functions of AOA, not airspeed. Optimum approach to landing speeds vary with weight, bank angle, CG and even relative humidity. With our AOA instrument, you can fly precision approaches just like Navy and airline pilots, and elimi-nate the need to compute performance speeds. AOA indication tells where the airspeed is going to be, unlike the airspeed indicator that tells where it was.

How Does it Work?

Our ADVANCED AOA senses lift with tiny pressure ports in the wing. Dynamic pressure is measured from the aircraft’s pitot/static system. Our patented technol-ogy computes the current AOA taking into account flap settings, wing loading and dynamic pressures. This technique eliminates the need for probes and moving parts with the added benefit of better reliability.

Your aircraft’s stall speed varies with gross weight, bank angle and turbulence. Your aircraft’s Stalling AOA (critical AOA), Approach AOA and Best Glide AOA are not affected by gross weight, bank an-gle or turbulence. If your aircraft stalls at 50 kts and 15 deg AOA at 1G, 0 deg bank and 2,000 lbs; at what speed will it stall with 2G turbulence, 2,500 lbs, and a 60 deg bank angle?

Would you believe over 110 kts and the same 15 deg AOA!

What Affects Stall Speed?
