Avedøre wind turbines, selection of locationAvedøre wind turbines, selection of location
As DONG Energy erects many wind turbines off shore, it is important to be able to test the wind turbinesit is important to be able to test the wind turbines.
Therefore, it is necessary to have a demonstration site with easy access for our employees.
Consequently, options for location in the Greater Copenhagen Area were considered.

Thus, the idea of erecting demonstration wind turbines at Avedøre Holme was born.
Avedøre wind turbines, the approval processsupreme authority
The approving authority for offshore wind turbines in Denmark is the Danish Energy Agency (ENS)Agency (ENS).
Usually, offshore wind turbines must be submitted for tender through the ENS, similar to eg Horns Rev 1 and 2to eg Horns Rev 1 and 2.
Offshore demonstration projects, however, are not subject to tender, but must still be approved by the ENSapproved by the ENS.
The ENS is the supreme authority and coordinates the approval process with other relevant authorities.relevant authorities.

• Municipality of Hvidovre• Avedøre Wastewater Services• AV Miljø (waste deposit)A d k CHP l• Avedøreværket CHP plant
• The local dike guild• Representatives for the industrial area at Avedøre Holme• The local wind turbine guild – Hvidovre VindmøllelaugThe local wind turbine guild Hvidovre Vindmøllelaug• Brøndby Harbour, yacht club/kayak club.
Furthermore, sail trips to the Middelgrunden were arranged to visit a similar project.
From the very beginning, it has been important to involve all stakeholders to create a sustainable project and to hear everyone's point of view – including the external controlling authorities.

Of the examined aspects, only the Protected species involve a potential impact:
The green toad.
The toad is listed in Appendix IV of the EU Habitats Directive and is under special protection.
