SAFETY IN THE PRE-PREP We have recently purchased a set of scooter helmets for Year 2 children and helmets for Reception children will shortly be arriving. Health and safety at school remains high priority and we continue to improve our provision in the Pre-Prep. We encourage you to continue this practice at home for both scooting and cycling activities.
Pre-Prep News
Year 1 and 2 boys are currently being challenged with their shirt buttons , especially the top collar button, and tying their own school tie. It will be really helpful and much appreciated if you can spend some time over half term prac-tising these skills with your child. Buttons may need to be re-adjusted to leave room for little fingers. (In many cases buttons have been sewn on too tightly.)
May we also ask that you take the opportunity over half term to ensure your child’s hair meets school expectations. A reminder from the Parents Handbook— Hair should be kept tidy and trendy styles avoided please. Girls must use hair clips or bands to keep long hair off the face. These must be white, pink or brown and of a plain design. Winter weather may be with us from November so please ensure fleece hat, gloves and scarf are named and ready for school. Thank you for your co-operation. Enjoy half term! Pre-Prep Staff

I have recently been informed by parents of a few cases of the Winter Vomiting Bug (Norovirus) so please could you all be particularly vigilant in reinforcing hand-washing with the children over the half term break. In an attempt to avoid/reduce transmission, I would like to draw to your attention the recent advice from the Depart-ment of Health. Getting Norovirus cannot always be avoided, but good hygiene can help to limit the virus spreading. Tips to help stop the virus spreading:
Wash your hands frequently and thoroughly with soap and water, particularly after using the toilet and before preparing food.
Do not share towels and flannels. Disinfect any surfaces or objects that could be contaminated with the virus. It is best to use a
bleach-based household cleaner. Wash any clothing or bedding that could have become contaminated with the virus. Wash the
items separately and on a hot wash to ensure that the virus is killed. Source: DOH/NHS choices- Oct 13
May I also remind you of the importance of adhering to the School Medical Policy which states that children must re-main off school until at least 48 hours after their symptoms have ceased as they may still be contagious even though they no longer have sickness or diarrhoea. This is of paramount importance in an attempt to protect all the children/staff in the school. Thank you in advance for your cooperation.

AUTUMN TERM, Issue 7 Page 6
Children from Year 1 up to Year 8 enjoyed a 'Samba Workshop' and interactive concert last week. During the morning all the children took part in a hands-on workshop, experiencing multi-rhythmic, multi-textured pieces based on Brazilian 'Samba'. The workshops were very noisy with every child having an instrument - but great fun!
During the afternoon the whole school watched an interactive concert: a whirlwind tour through almost everything musical. Andy the Music man demonstrated a wide range of stringed instruments from the 16th century lute right through to the electric guitar, as well as a whole variety of percussion instruments from across the world. There was lots of partici-pation and we were all captivated throughout!

U10 ROSE HILL GIRLS HOCKEY TOURNAMENT Good fortune was on our side on Saturday 12th October when the rain cleared early in the morning, allowing the U10 Girls Hockey Tournament to go ahead. 7 schools entered and all played each other. It was a lovely morning of hockey which was well supported by parents. Rose Hill finished in 5th place, with Marlborough House winning the trophy.
HOCKEY GLOVES If parents feel their daughter would benefit from wearing gloves during hockey matches they are more than welcome to even though they are not part of the official kit. However, we do ask that you ensure these are appropriate hockey or rugby gloves.
