Midnight Heroes—Titanic’s Musicians
The eight young band members on the Titanic played to the end. These
talented musicians were true heroes. A comprehensive story of the
Titanic’s band is rare. A photo biography of each musician and the
legacies that each left behind, creates a captivating and an emotionally
moving topic.
David Kaplan’s interest in the Titanic was
first sparked at seeing the earlier movie of
the same name in 1953. He has been a
Titanic historian for 50 years. He has met 18 survivors and visited world-wide Titanic
related sites. He is a member of the Titanic Historical Society, the Titanic International
Society and the Titanic Society of Atlantic Canada.
Jan Coppola Bills is the author of Late Bloomer, a certified landscape designer, advanced master gardener, entrepreneur, and contributing writer for State-by-State Gardening magazines.
After a successful career in the corporate world, she made a major life reassessment and followed her heart: She traded in her heels for Wellies and started the Detroit-area landscape design company Two Women and a Hoe®.

Two Women and a Hoe®
My favourite poem is the one that
starts 'Thirty days hath September'
because it actually
tells you something.
Groucho Marx
“Gardening has always been in my bloodstream, but for those starting in the second half of life, this honest, forth-
right book offers a generous, lighthearted approach to gardening and dresses it with humor and wisdom. It’s a must
for every late bloomer.” ~ P. Allen Smith, Television Host, Designer, Gardening & Lifestyle Ex-

Thanks to artist, Michael Sincic, and historian, Dianna Stampfler, on their programs in June. To our FOL members who helped at the Festival of the Arts Used Book Sale in July. To those of you who donated books as well as those of you who bought books (for many, you are both—donors and buyers—thanks!!) Thanks to the CWPL for bringing author, Elizabeth Berg, to present on her newest book series in August and allowing FOL to help out with dessert and flowers for each
attendee. Those books are now available at the library.
