The African drum in the New Scots display in the Scottish Gallery is known by different names across Africa, including ngoma and darbukka. Discover the importance of these musical instruments in different African cultures and then have a go at making and decorating your very own drum to take away.

Where to Find Us & Opening Times

The Gallery of Modern Art, Glasgow Museums Resource Centre, Kelvingrove Art Gallery & Museum, Riverside Museum, Scotland Street School Museum and The People’s Palace are open daily: 10am–5pm, except Fridays & Sundays 11am–5pm.

Provand’s Lordship and St Mungo Museum of Religious Life & Art have the same opening hours except that they are CLOSED on Mondays.
