*use the appropriate size brush for each section.

PREPARATION:Sand the surface. Wipe away dust with a damp paper towel. Seal the front, sides and drawer with the multi-

purpose sealer. Let dry & sand lightly again if needed.

Glue the handle in the drawer and the feet to the bot-tom of the tissue box.

PAINTING INSTRUCTIONS:Follow the instructions on the staining medium bottle and mix with Dark Chocolate. Brush the mixture on the top, bottom, and the inside of the tissue box and in the drawer.

Allow to dry thoroughly. Tape off the stained area where the remainder of the box will be painted to keep it from getting on the stain.

Base the front, including the drawer and sides with Serene.

Using the fi lbert brush add random brush marks all over the sky area on the front and sides. For the fi rst application use Serene plus Spiced Pumpkin. Dry. With a clean brush repeat with Serene plus Yellow Ochre. Dry. With a clean brush repeat one more time with Serene plus Antique Maroon.

Stipple the bushes with Serene plus Antique Maroon. Repeat again adding a little more Antique Maroon. Allow some of the fi rst application to show above the second application.

Using a large brush, slip slap the ground (including the knob) Serene plus Dark Chocolate. Add touches of Antique Maroon near the bottom of the bushes.

Add a few trees, using a liner brush, in the bushes with White plus Serene plus Antique Maroon. They appear white, but do not make them too bright as they need to sit in the background.

Stipple some Yellow Ochre on some of the trees and Spiced Pumpkin on a few.

Trace on the deer and trees.

Basecoat the deer with Cocoa.

Basecoat the trees with Zinc.

Slip slap the ground again with Antique Maroon, Spiced Pumpkin, Dark Chocolate and Yellow Ochre. Do not mix all the colours together. Pick them up as needed. I used the same brush as I used to stipple the bushes. Allow some areas to be a little darker and

some to be brighter.

Blending colours as needed on the deer, apply some Cocoa on the deer, mix in some Dark Chocolate to create the dark areas on the deer. Add tiny touches of Lamp Black if needed to deepen the darkest areas. Use more Cocoa than Dark Chocolate in the lighter areas. Add a small amount of Snow White to the lighter areas if need to lighten.

Block in the White areas on the face, ears, neck and legs. Add the eyes and nose. These will be refi ned after the rest of the deer is complete.

Continue working on the deer, deepening and lighting as needed. Use Raw Umber to shade the deer where it goes behind the tree and on the tops of their backs. Shade to divide the legs from the belly and to form the neck and chest.

Brighten the white areas with Snow White as needed.

Using a liner touch up the nose and eyes. Add a touch of a highlight in the eyes and on the nose with a tiny touch of Snow White.

Pat Raw Umber in the centre of the ears. Flick Snow White over it to create the look of fur.

Base the antlers Cocoa. Shade with Raw Umber. High-light by adding a touch of Snow White to the Coca.

Add another of Zinc to the trees. Using an old brush with fl ared out bristles, pick up Zinc plus Snow White. Hold the brush straight up and down on the edge of the tree and fl ick it towards the centre. It should ap-pear somewhat solid then go streaky where the bristles fl icked. Flick some in the centre of the trunk as well. Randomly do this all over the trees. Repeat again with Lamp Black. Repeat again with Snow White to cre-ate the brightest areas. Do this on the larger branches as well. Allow some branches to appear as they are coming from the front and some from behind. Line the thinner branches with Zinc.

Basecoat the rocks with Lamp Black plus Dark Choco-late. Loosely add highlights to the top of the rocks and some on the edges by adding a touch of Snow White to the rock mixture.

Line the smaller trees in front of the large trees with Lamp Black.

Flick some grass in front of the rocks and trees with Lamp Black plus Antique Maroon. Flick some with Cocoa.

Stipple the leaves on the trees fi rst with Antique Maroon plus Spiced Pumpkin. Dry. Stipple just Spiced Pumpkin. Dry. Stipple Yellow Ochre. Be sure to add some to the small trees and grasses in front of the large trees. Add some bright highlights on the trees with Golden Yellow. Pick up some True Red and add touches of red to the trees and to the grass.

Slip slap the ground around the deer, rocks and trees with Spiced Pumpkin, Yellow Ochre and True Red. Add-ing the colours where you desire.

FINISHING TOUCHES:Varnish with your favourite varnish. I would to several (3-5) coats as this is an item that will be used on a regular basis.
