    AUTOSAR

    AUTOSAR has the principle

    Cooperate on standards,

    compete on implementa-

    tion. As the delivery of

    implementations in

particular implementa-tions of basic software and

    tooling must be enabled

    and supported worldwide,

    the best quality and service

    is expected in free competi-

    tion on implementation

    level.

    AUTOSAR

    The ViSiOn

    AUTOSAR aims to improve

    complexity management of

    integrated E/E architectures

    through increased reuse

    and transferability of SW

    modules between OEMs

    and suppliers.

The AUTOSAR development partnership is o-

cused on managing the growing complexity in

    the development o automotive electric/elec-

tronic (E/E) architecture, with the aim to improve

    development eciency without making com-

promises on quality. AUTOSAR paves the way

or innovative electronic systems that urther

    improve perormance, saety and environmental

    riendliness.

    AUTOSAR The ideA

The AUTOSAR standard consists o a set o speci-

cations that describe a sotware architecture,

application interaces and a methodology. The

    AUTOSAR layered sotware architecture ena-

bles the development o independent sotware

components. These can be used in vehicles

o dierent manuacturers, and in electronic

components o dierent suppliers that can

span multiple product generations. It re-

sults in a high reliability o the overall system

with signicant cost and capacity benets.

The AUTOSAR principle Cooperate on standards,

compete on implementation oers various ben-

    ets to automotive manuacturers, automotive

suppliers, tool providers, and even new market

    entrants.

AUTOSAR (AUTomotive Open System ARchitecture) is a partnership between

automotive manufacturers, suppliers and tool and semiconductor vendors. Since

2003 AUTOSAR has been working on the development of an open, standardized

software architecture for automotive electronic control units (ECUs).

    BenefiTS Of AUTOSAR

The realization o the AUTOSAR industry standard will provide signicant benets or

OEMs, suppliers, semiconductor vendors as well as or tool and service providers and new

    market entrants.

Many OEMs and suppliers rely on the standard and are introducing AUTOSAR in a widerange o applications. 25 million ECUs produced by the AUTOSAR Core Partners in 2011 are

based on the AUTOSAR architecture, with 300 million planned or 2016.
