In Mexico:

• 98 of 100 children have access to elementary school.

• Only 62 will finish middle school.

• 46 will enroll in high school or equivalent. 25 will finish it in a timely manner.

• Just 13 will get an undergraduate degree; between two and three will finish graduate studies.

In the State of México there are 1´350,000 youngsters who should be enrolled in higher education. Only 20% (269,920) are actually studying.

The Autonomous University of the State of Mexico faces this reality. Due to several limitations, it only can accept 34.6% of successful applicants.

In México, a person who just finishes high school will expect an average income of less than $6,200 MXN (about $500 USD) monthly. The difference

with a college graduate is 100%.

Working for the future

Autonomous University of the State of Mexico (UAEM)

• According to Webometrics and the newspaper “El

Universal” :

1. The UAEM is ranked the third best University nationwide.

2. The UAEM is ranked the second best University in Mexico

according to employers (Survey 2010).

• In the last 30 years 100,000 new professionals have

graduated. The 80% has joined the labour force of State of

México.

•Currently the UAEM student body is of approximately 56

thousand students.

On March 3rd 1828 was founded as “Literary Institute.”

In 1886 it became the “Scientific and Literary Institute.”

On March 21st 1956 it developed into the Autonomous University of the State of Mexico.

• The University income has raised a 41.5 % in the last 4 years. • The investment specific amount in scholarships has raised a 47.3% in the same period. • However, the amount for scholarships is still the 6% of the total use of resources.
