Threats facing U.S. forces today require persistent surveillance over areas of operation and areas of interest. BAE Systems’ ARGUS-IS enables unprecedented capability to monitor events in real time, using a 1.8 gigapixel color camera, at resolutions supporting tracking of people and vehicles.

ARGUS-IS is a composite focal plane array (CFPA) assembly of 368 overlapping FPAs, imaging a 4-mile diameter area at 10Hz. Each FPA provides high-resolution imagery which is stitched together with neighboring FPAs to create video windows, detect and track moving vehicles, reach back into the forensic archive, and generate 3-D models. Analysts can control more than 100 windows for a detailed look, while still maintaining the broad context.

ARGUS-IS can be mounted on manned or unmanned platforms, such as the UH-60 Blackhawk, Proteus Experimental Aircraft, or the A-160 Hummingbird. The system is capable of monitoring large areas for an extended period of time.

Analysts can focus on specific areas.

More than 100 H.264 video windows track moving vehicles.

Video windows zoom into particular areas, while mosaics maintain a broader context.

ARGUS IS THE NEXT GENERATION OF WIDE AREA PERSISTENT SURVEILLANCE.

Description

The ARGUS-IS is comprised of the airborne processor, sensor system, data storage system and ground processing system.

Analysts can create tracking windows forward or backwards in time to follow each suspect as they enter or exit an AOI.
