Automatic railway track crack detection

Automatic railway Track Crack detection & Gate ControlUnder the guidance of :Miss Monalisa SamalGROUP MEMBERSChirag Kumar JainAsish DasPrabhu Ranjan PandeyKunal KunjPriyadarshi KumarINTRODUCTIONThis project relates to the train rail crack detection and gate controlling and sending the information with the help of GSM modem.

Cracked rails occurs in various geographical areas, in various climates and at various location where rail beds are in less than optimal condition.

In our minor project we have already shown a demo model which detects the crack in the track using RF sensors and now in our major we are going to implement a GSM technique to send the information to other stations .

REASON FOR EXTENDING THE PROJECTRailway communication system is widely used for day to day transport of common people & Indian railway system is largest.

We are extending this project because we have already shown the crack detection but only by detecting the crack we can not prevent more accident unless a systematic gate controlling mechanism is being equipped with it.PROJECT DETAILSIn this project we are using ATMEGA 16 microcontroller to control the gate mechanism and GSM technique to send the information from one station to other stations.

We are using IR sensors for opening and closing purpose of GATE

When train is detected in between sensors then GATE is closed automatically and when it passes from station then it opens automatically

We are using relay circuit and many more electronic equipments which would help us to generate a circuit which would be powerful to detect rail track crack and send signals.

We are designing a device which has its own sensor transmitter(LASER) & sensor receiver (LDR)because railway track is solid iron & light can pass through it, so whenever there is crack light passes through the track and LDR senses the crack & activates the buzzer and stops there so that particular area should be identified through wireless camera.

IMPLEMENTATION OF PROJECT BY STEP WISE PROCESS

REQUIREMENTS & AVAILABILITYAny project has 2 requirements :1- Hardware2 SoftwareWe require hardware part such as : relay switch, capacitor ,transistor and many other parts which are shown later on when we proceed..We require microcontroller programs for software purpose.LAB EQUIPMENTS REQUIRED FOR PROJECTRELAYCAPACITORRESISTORTRANSISTORDC MOTORCOILBUZZERTRANSFORMERVOLTAGE REGULATORWHEELSCAMERACHESIS (BODY )

The project we are presenting is a demo project of rail track crack detection and gate controlling which is an advance technology and not implemented successfully before. If technology which we are using would be implemented in larger scale with as per requirement it would help in detecting rail track crack and help us in preventing A) derailments which causes many accidents.B)would save certain lifeC) goods which are transported through train would be saved. Now a days terrorist also take the help of rail track crack to take lives of people and make government agree their demand.

It is a one time process & would certainly help in many ways in future if implemented successfully.CONCLUSION

Existing railway technique & technologies, together with terrorist tactics, definitely have influence on the research and development of new security technologies for protecting railway systems against terrorist attacks. The development & use of new equipment technologies has a big impact on everyday life, either positive or negative. We need to preserve our people & this derailments which occurs due to some lack of technology. So we want to give our way of better & advanced technology through this demo project which if implemented looking at its future scope will be a one time investment for government but will avoid many uncertainties that happens in everyday life.

The real truth is electronics can never be trusted completely but we have to take our chances with it and technology which we have tried to do our best in this project.BIBLIOGRAPHYwww.secr.indianrailways.gov.in
