1. Introduction
These software technical specifications for the Rolls-Royce module of Autologic software is aimed at potential and existing customers of Autologic Diagnostics. They give vehicle technicians, independent vehicle workshop owners and managers an up-to-date, easy-to-follow and detailed guide to the capabilities of the Autologic diagnostic tool. This enables you to evaluate the coverage, functionality and capabilities of the Autologic software and compare it with other vehicle diagnostic equipment which replicates the functionality of Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) level vehicle diagnostic tools.
The latest version of this document is available on the autologic.com website as a PDF file so that you can view, download or print it for your reference. You can quickly scan through this document by clicking on the heading for the model of vehicle you want to view in the table of contents.
Autologic Diagnostics update these software technical specifications on a regular basis to include details about new vehicle models and to reflect the development and the updates to the Rolls-Royce module of Autologic software.
The main purpose of the document is to explain the full capabilities and functionalities of Autologic by using the following criteria:
Rolls-Royce’s series of vehicles.
Individual models of Rolls-Royce vehicles associated with each series of vehicles.
Vehicle systems and subsystems, such as Drive, Chassis and Body.
Control units (control modules) – full description listed in alphabetical order, control unit abbreviation (if applicable) and all variants of the control units (if applicable).
Autologic’s capabilities for diagnosing each control unit, that is to say, read and clear DTCs, make diagnostic requests, activate components, coding, flash programming, initialisations and make adjustments.
Autologic’s vehicle-specific functionality for each model of vehicle, that is to say, service functions, car and key memory, retrofits, conversions and performance tunes.
1.1 Key to tables of diagnostic capabilities
Orange bullet = Autologic can do the task in the column heading.
Grey shaded area = No vehicle diagnostic tool can do this task. For example, it is not possible to activate vehicle sensors (listed under the Activate components column heading).
White area = It is possible to do the task in the column heading but it is in development and it has not yet been implemented. Please contact Autologic Diagnostics’ Technical Support department for further information.

1.2 Explanations of table headings
1.2.1 Table headings in diagnostic capabilities sections
Read & clear DTCs – Read and clear Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs), also known as diagnostic fault codes, to identify vehicle faults.
Make diagnostic requests – Read live vehicle data, such as the engine temperature, engine speed, vehicle speed and the suspension height data.
Activate components – Activate particular components within applicable systems, such as activate air suspension valves to aid with fault diagnosis.
Coding – You can use Autologic to configure any control unit that is codeable to function differently for various vehicle configurations. Examples include the settings on the instrument cluster, airbag, heater and A/C, video and vehicle immobiliser. You need to code all of the new control units when you first fit them to a vehicle. You may also need to code some vehicles after you have fitted accessories such as tow bars and xenon headlamps. Some configuration options on Autologic are not available on the OEM-level tools, so Autologic gives you more freedom to personalise your customers’ vehicles.
Flash programming – Many control units are flash programmable. As part of the on-going support, vehicle manufacturers periodically release updated software, often to overcome running issues. Autologic enables you to do these updates. Autologic can program the control units on Rolls-Royce vehicles from 1998 model year onwards. Software files are constantly updated to keep up with fixes from Rolls-Royce. All engine and powertrain control units need coding before they will work on a vehicle. Body control units also need coding before they will work on a vehicle and they also needs to be updated, as necessary. Autologic can also program keys and alarm remotes for all Rolls-Royce models.
Initialisations – Autologic can do all of the car key memory functions for all of the BMW vehicles for which it is possible.
Make adjustments – Control-unit-specific adjustments might be the idle speed for the engine control unit, Valvetronic and VANOS adjustments.

1.2.2 Table headings in vehicle-specific capabilities sections
Service functions – These functions allow you to do tests during a vehicle service. For example, desulphrise and denox the catalytic converter, register a replacement battery, test the air pressure control and test the exhaust back pressure.
Car & key memory – This allows you to override factory coding settings such as changing the temperature units or the date format in the car.
Add & remove keys – You can add additional keys, recover existing keys that have been lost and found and remove lost or stolen keys.
Retrofits – You can use Autologic to install genuine Rolls-Royce retrofit parts kits such as a facelift light, towbar and folding mirrors as well as iPod, Dension, Mowbridge and Combox multi-media products.
Conversions – Examples of these functions are changing the display language in the car or changing the oil service interval.
