What is AutoChecker• Excel-based programme designed to ease the checking of the

specification of goods and services for filing of trade marks.


Before you use the auto-checker• Always enable Macros so that you can

use the programme


Autochecker – Multi-item search• Enter the specification of the item in one class

• and indicate the class number

Multi-Item search - examining individual items[Green fields]


Fields highlighted in green indicate that the exact items can be found in our database

Fields highlighted in red indicate that the exact item is found in other classes

When fields are yellow, you may need to check the items individually

Multi-Item search – detecting misspellings


Words in red mean they are misspellings. This might be either because of 1) the language chosen on your Microsoft settings, or2) the word is not in the Microsoft dictionary.

Multi-search – Quick Query


To search for the closest match to the item in the specific item fieldSelect the item you are querying and click

If nothing appears, there are no resultsTo close, click

Use the Update button to reflect changes made to individual items to specification in cell A4.

To search for the closest match to the item in the specific item fieldSelect the item you are querying and click or press ctrl - Right

If nothing appears, there are no results for that itemTo close, click or press ctrl-Left

Performs a Quick Query for all items highlighted in yellowClick or press Ctrl-M

If nothing appears, there are no results for that item.To close, click

Flexi-search


Performs an in-depth search for a single item1. Select an item in the Multi-Item Search that you are interested to do a

further search2. Click or press ctrl-QQuery

The item you selected will be populated in the Flexi-search page with the class number indicated in the Multi-Item search.

Any item in the database that contains at least one of the search terms will appear as a search resultThe “classes with results” field shows the classes that have resultsThe results will be filtered according to the class number indicated

You may amend the input and class number accordingly

To search in all classes, you may press DEL in the “Class” field

Click “Filter Goods Classes” to see all items in the goods classes, i.e. items in class 1 to 34.

Click “Filter Service Classes” to see all items in the goods classes, i.e. items in class 35 to 45.

Use the “\” character to limit your search items.

Input Effect Results

Net Anything that contains “net” Clarinet, Technetium, Penetrants

\net Anything that starts with the word “net” Network, Netballs

net\ Anything that ends with the word “net” Rennet

\nets\ Only search for “nets” per se Net curtains, Net bags for shopping

wire\net Will not break up the words Wire netting, Welded wire nets
