1. When and why is a section view necessary?

A section view is sometimes necessary to show hidden parts of a certain drawing, and can be used to help better visually describe a drawing.

2. Describe the general procedure to create a section view in AutoCAD.

To create a section view, first put in a cutting plane line in the correct position and direction. Next, start drawing the section view in the correct position (front, right, left) and draw it based on your knowledge of how this section of the object would look. Last, correctly dimension the drawing.

3. In AutoCAD, can the angle and spacing of hatch patterns be altered?

Yes, the angle and spacing of hatch patterns can be altered in AutoCAD in the settings menu.

4. Explain the concept of using a cutting plane line in a section view.

The cutting plane line is used to show where on the full view that the section view is cut, and in which direction it is cut. This helps to explain the orientation of the section view.

5. Can we mirror text in AutoCAD?

Yes, we can mirror text in AutoCAD.

6. Using the Trim command, what would happen if we do not specify a boundary and just press [Enter] at the Select Objects prompt?

If we just press enter at this prompt, then any part of the entire drawing can be trimmed.

7. Which command do we use to define the region of the grid display in the current AutoCAD screen?

We can use the zoom window command and then window the area that we want to display.

8. Construct the drawing shown and measure the area A. (Units: mm)

Area = 30 mm squared9. Construct the drawing shown and measure the length L. Show the length with two digits after the decimal point. (Units: inches)

Area = 5.65 inches
