AIM:

To develop a system to transmit the electricity meter reading of a building usingGSM Technology.

DESCRIPTION:

This system is used for transmitting the electricity meter reading of a building using GSM

Technology. So we will transmit the reading to the EB office through SMS. For this we

are using GSM Technology and the traditional Electricity reading meter will be replaced by a Digital Electricity reading meter which will consist a GSM Transmitter and Receiver 

and a SIM card similar to our cell phone SIM . This SIM will bw having a unique ID

number. This GSM technology will help us in sending the reading to the EB office,where this reading will be stored in a database. The reading will be sent at a particular 

interval of time say for every 10 Seconds so that the database will be instantly updated.

This reduces manual work of taking the reading. And this helps the customers to pay their 

 bill online, check their reading and amount in Rupees at any time even through online

that is through a web portal. The bill will also be sent in post to all customers to their respective address similar to a telephone bill sent. In this system we can also terminate

the current line to a particular building or house from the EB office.Our system also provides a facility of fixing a budget amount through online so

that if that particular amount is reached a intimation through e-mail or SMS or automated

voice call will be given. Our system helps to find out the current theft.

HARDWARE REQUIREMENTS:

• Digital Electric meter or necessary electric and electronic components to

develop such meter.

• GSM Transmitter/Receiver • Database Server 

• And other programming components.

SOFTWARE REQUIREMENTS:

• Visual Basic or Visual C++ (For Database connectivity and for receivingthe readings in an EB office).

• And other software and ACTIVE X controls.

TIME DURATION:

This project can be developed in couple of months.
