3 DRAFTING AND PLANS PRODUCTION SETTINGS Update or create settings, object styles, and labeling utilizing the new features and functionality
added in Civil 3D 2009 listed below. Wherever possible, API-based Custom Draw drafting functionality
in the 2008 Country Kit will be replaced with new Sheet Creation, Drafting, and Labeling template
settings and styles.
3.1 DRAWING TEMPLATES
Currently AutoCAD Civil 3D 2008 ships with the following set of drawing templates.
• _Au(NZ)stralian AutoCAD Civil3D 2009 Design.DWT
• _New_Zealand_Au(NZ)toCAD_Civil3D_2009.DWT
The above templates are enhanced with the following:
• Content for new objects – so that appropriate object/label/table styles are added
• Updated feature and command settings to accommodate various feature
enhancements.
• Updated drawing settings to set appropriate layers for new objects in Civil 3D
(including new labels)
• Repaired errors that exist in the previous DWTs
• Australian and New Zealand speed tables
• Title blocks which include fields for Plan Production content
3.2 SHEET CREATION
Templates to define border, frame, title block, North Arrow and other general sheet settings
and styles for plan and profile sheets:

• _New_Zealand_Au(NZ)toCAD_Civil3D_2009_PlanProfile_Sheet.DWT
3.3 DRAFTING AND LABELING
• Enhance templates with settings and styles that define the appearance and annotation of
cross section sheets
• Enhance templates to add appropriate styles for Contour Labels
• Enhance templates to add appropriate styles and settings for annotation of axis margins,
and for title box band labels for Profiles and Cross Sections
• Enhance templates to add appropriate Annotation variables. For example, add variables to
labels to control size and rotation of label elements.

• Enhanced templates include layer settings for the new layers added to Civil 3D 2009

4 GENERAL ENHANCEMENTS AND MAINTENANCE
4.1.1 CHANGES TO EXISTING LAYER COLOURS The next version of AutoCAD is changing out-of-the-box background colour to light yellow (250, 250,
236). This change causes lot of existing layer colours in Civil 3D (R2008) templates to look pale and un-
readable. Therefore it is decided that we should change some of these colours so that they work well
if the background colour is Black, White, or the new ACAD background colour (250, 250, 236).
There are three categories of changes, all to layer colour assignments:
1. All layers using Yellow get changed to colour 11,
2. All text layers using Cyan get changed to colour 150, and
3. All text layers using Green get changed to colour 92.
The first category is the most dramatic, as it is a shift from Yellow to a colour that might be described
as dark peach. The other two categories are much less dramatic, as they use similar but darker
colours.
Layers Using Yellow Get Changed to Colour 11
Yellow (255, 255, 0) is the most problematic colour on light colour backgrounds. Colour 11 (255, 127,
127) is a sort of dark peach that displays nicely on both light and dark colour backgrounds.

Cyan (0, 255, 255) is nearly as problematic as yellow, and it is particularly problematic for text on light
backgrounds. Colour 150 (0, 127,255) is similar to Cyan, only darker.

Green Layers Get Changed to Colour 92
Green (0, 255, 0) text does not display well on light colour backgrounds. Colour 92 (0, 165, 0) is just a
darker green. Text using Colour 92 displays quite nicely on light backgrounds, and Colour 92 shows up
just as well as Green on a black background.

5 OBJECT LAYERS, OBJECT COMPONENT DISPLAY LAYERS,
COLOURS, LINETYPES AND LAYER MANAGER
This kit implements basic Object Layers configuration where Layer Name Suffix is used for Surface
Object only. The aim is to introduce this feature to the users. Other objects, such as Alignments and
Alignment related objects and collections can be configured to use Layer name Modifiers.
In Addition, Object Component Display is configured to use Component specific Layers. Object
Component Display Properties are set to use either “ByLayer” or “ByBlock” for Colour and Linetype
settings. This method is selected to allow control of Object Components Visibility when Civil 3D
drawings are opened in AutoCAD with Object Enabler. Users can control the visibility of Object Display
Components using Layers visibility.
To support this method and facilitate easier control over
Components visibility, the supplied drawing Template includes
a set of Layer Property Filters that use Layer Names to group
layers:
Colour scheme for the supplied templatewas designed to
provide equal visibility of components on either white or black
background in AutoCAD Dsiplay Options.

ANZ Country Kit Installs a customized “ANZ Reports Manager” within AutoCAD Civl 3D 2009
ANZ Reports Manager allows users to access all reports that are available in
AutoCAD Civil 3D 2009. The customization of the standard reports in the ANZ
Reports Manager address terminology, number formatting and some additional
features and controls on the report forms..
Reports in AutoCAD Civil 3D are of two types: LandXML and VBA (.NET). ANZ Country Kit has some additional features within some VBA Reports:
• ANZ Reports Manager
o Parcel
� Lot Volumes Report
This report requires a Volume type Surface in the drawing and a number of Parcel
objects whose perimeters are fully within the extents of that Volime Surface’s
Boundaries.
Users need to select a Volume Surface and a Site containing Parcel objects:
