How to Save Money in an Auto Body Repair One of the biggest ways to save money in an auto body repair is by purchasing the replacement parts for your vehicle. A lot of times dealers and body shops off the high way will try charging you full price to raise their margins and cover their overhead. There are however, a couple options to purchasing these products at a good price. A lot of times junk yards have different parts on vehicles that aren’t damaged just put in the junk yards because the vehicle was deemed totaled. The vehicle is deemed totaled when a certain amount of damage to the vehicle is determined to be more than half of the vehicle value. In this case the vehicle gets sold to a junk yard but still has many good non damaged parts on it. If the vehicle was in a rear collision accident then the front hood, bumper cover, fenders, and headlights still could be good useable product. A new OEM bumper cover could go for $600 where you could get one from the salvage yard for maybe $125 if you don’t mind calling and doing to research to find the part this method could be worth working for. If the product is not available at the salvage yard, the other option is to call a local auto body repair shops . Sometimes some of these companies are hard to find so a couple good ones to take a look at are new world international, and national auto parts. For air conditioning parts and some of the others Auto Zone and Pep Boys are good options. A lot of the times though the product is purchased from one of these larger companies and a “finder’s fee” is collected by these well branded stores. If this seems like a good way to save money but you aren’t interested in spending the time the final option is to look for consultants that do this type of thing. Just make sure in selecting your third party affiliate to select one that has the option selecting the product put on your vehicle. As previously stated, this is the biggest factor in saving. Keep in the mind though the “more you save” the more your giving up on the legitimacy of your product. So making sure you know what product is being used in your auto body repair is key.
