Co-creators of authenticity

The trouser-words

, .

Words which reveal their meaning through their negative in a given context.

Next, 'real' is what we may call a trouser-word. It is usually thought, and I dare say usually rightly thought, that what one might call the affirmative use of a term is basicthat, to understand 'x,' we need to know what it is to be x, or to be an x, and that knowing this apprises us of what it is not to be x, not to be an x. But with 'real' (as we briefly noted earlier) it is the negative use that wears the trousers. J. L. Austin

The pairs

1) Authenticity fakery (heritage sites and artifacts, art); 2) Authenticity commoditization (traditions, crafts, art); 3) Authenticity insincerity (local community) 4) Authenticity disempowerment (local community) 5) Authenticity passiveness (tourists, local community) 6) Authenticity uncreativity (tourists, local community) 7) Authenticity communication breakdown (holistic approach)

Commoditization

Communication breakdown

Chewbaca is that you? These costumes make them look like dickheads... literally! For those interested, these "costumes" are used in "Kukeri", a folkloric ritual that happens every January 1st as a tradition to scare away evil spirits, and to get good harvests, bring happiness to the village, among others.Reminds me of those tall hairy creatures from that one Spongebob episode. Where Squidward is trapped in concrete and how did I remember that? o.OCREEPY!They are waiting for Jabba de Hutt!*thinking at the old meme with the very fat woman saying "Bring me Solo!" and laughing*People please have some respect for this really old Bulgarian tradition. Please don't call these people in costumes "dildos" and "dicks". This is really disrespectful. Ignorant retards. These are very very high ranking English guards.Charles Frger
