NOTING THE GAME

■ What You Should Know…Although Fatodd Lewis and Matthew Butler have grabbed the headlines as UT Martin’s

one-two punch for most of the 2017-18 regular season, junior Jailen Gill emerged as the leading scorer for the Skyhawks in both games to kick off the OVC schedule, averaging 17.0 ppg and hitting 14-of-16 from the fl oor. Austin Peay’s advantage will come on the glass, par-ticularly offensively; the Govs lead the OVC at 13.8 offensive rebounds per game, while the Skyhawks are corraling just 68.6 percent of defensive rebounds available, ninth in the OVC. If the game comes down to free-throws, it could be to UT Martin’s advantage; the Skyhawks lead the league in free-throw shooting (76.6 percent), while the Govs, despite a recent up-tick (67.0 percent over the last fi ve games) at the line, remain mired at 62.4 percent at the charity stripe this season.

■ Deeper Meanings…WHAT A WIN WOULD MEAN: Would give the Govs a 3-0 start in OVC play for the fi rst time

since the 2010-11 season... would be Austin Peay’s fi rst win against UT Martin in the regular season since the 2014 regular-season fi nale... head coach Matt Figger would become the fi rst APSU head coach to start 3-0 in league play since George Fisher started 5-0 in VSAC play dur-ing the 1962-63 season... would be Austin Peay’s fi rst win to open January since the 2013-14 season, when the Govs also beat UT Martin... would put the Govs over .500 for the fi rst time during the Figger era.

WHAT A LOSS WOULD MEAN: Would be Austin Peay’s fourth straight January-opening loss... would give UT Martin three straight wins in the series and seven in the last eight, the Skyhawks most successful stretch in series history.

■ Last Time Against UT MartinA 76-72 loss at UT Martin, Feb. 26, left the Govs unable to qualify for the 2017 Ohio Valley

Conference Men’s Basketball Tournament. The Skyhawks closed the game on an 18-8 run, aided by a 5:23 stretch that saw the Govs go without a bucket from the fl oor. Austin Peay is not sorry to see Jacolby Mobley gone from Martin; he scored a game-high 28 in the last meeting, including 20 in the second half.

OVC scraps Divisional play after fi ve seasonsAfter using it for fi ve years, divisional play in the OVC has been eliminated with teams going back to being ranked 1-12 in the standings. OVC play will feature an 18-game schedule this season; the league last played an 18-game schedule from 2008-09 through 2010-11. OVC tourney will make fi rst appearance in EvansvilleWith divisional play eliminated in 2017-18, seeds 1-8 will be merit-based in their entirety. New for 2017-18, the league championship has forgone its longtime home of Nashville and will instead play in Evansville’s Ford Center.

Replay systems for OVC basketball venues enter 10th season; expand to include DVSport At the league meetings centered around this season’s basketball media days, it was decreed by the league offi ce that all schools will use DVSport modules for instant replay, standardizing camera angles at every institution across the conference after implementation in 2008.

GOVERNORS GAME NOTES

■ BIG TIME WINS: Five of Austin Peay’s fi rst six victories have come by at least 20 points after the Govs dispatched SIUE, 78-58. The last time Austin Peay had fi ve victories by 20 or more points in a single-season was the 2010-11 campaign.

■ SEEING DOUBLE: For the second time this season, Ugba (21 points, 10 re-bounds against SIUE) and Taylor (19 points, 11 boards) recorded double-dou-bles in the same game; the dynamic duo previously did so against Oakland City, Nov. 15.

■ ED GOES OFF: After a lengthy stint out of uniform, graduate transfer Ed Stephens fi nally got his time to shine against West-ern Kentucky. The former South Carolina State product scored 13 points off the bench, including a trio of three-pointers, to lead the Govs against the Hilltoppers.

■ UGBA UNLEASHED VOL. 1: Ugba was tabbed as OVC Newcomer of the Week, Dec. 27, for his work against Troy and Western Kentucky; he averaged 13.0 ppg and 7.0 rpg against the Trojans and Hill-toppers as an APSU player has now won at least one of the OVC Newcomer, Fresh-man and Player of the Week honors in fi ve of the last six weeks.

■ TAYLOR’S TURN AT THE TOP: With a career-best 30 points against Evansville, Taylor carved out another slice of Austin Peay lore. He’s the fi rst APSU freshman since Nick Stapleton (Feb. 13, 1999 against Middle Tennessee) to score 30 or more points in a single game, earning his third OVC Freshman of the Week honor in the process.

■ DEFENSE WINS CHAMPIONSHIPS: Il-linois, a squad ranked 11th nationally in turnover margin at the start of the Dec. 6 contest against APSU, was minus-one against the Govs. With 25 forced turn-overs, Austin Peay’s opponents are av-eraged 23.6 turnovers per contest from Nov. 16 (Oakland City) to Dec. 6 (Illinois).

■ ARC-LIGHT: Austin Peay held the then-national leader in three-point shooting, Illinois’ Aaron Jordan, without a make on two attempts from beyond the arc.

■ DEFENSE WINS CHAMPIONSHIPS 2.0:

The Govs pesky brand of defending al-lowed them to double up Alabama A&M in turnovers forced, leading to a sizable advantage in in points off turnover (28-9); Alabama A&M’s one steal was a sea-son-low for an Austin Peay opponent and fewest by a Governors foe since Nov. 22, 2015 (one, Northern Colorado). Austin Peay has now won the turnover margin by double digits three times in 2017-18; that happened just twice last season.

■ TAYLOR TOP DOG: Taylor averaged 10.0 ppg and 12.0 rpg against Oklahoma State and Alabama A&M, taking his sec-ond OVC Freshman of the Week honor on

the season. With his Freshman of the Week honors bookending the wins by freshman Dayton Gumm (Freshman) and Ugba (Newcomer), it marks the fi rst time Feb. 4-18, 2013 (Horton twice, An-thony Campbell) that Austin Peay has won at least one weekly honor from the conference in three consecutive weeks.

■ A THEME EMERGES: The victory against Alabama A&M marked the fi rst time Austin Peay had held an opponent to less than 50 points since Dec. 28, 2010 against Brescia. The last Divi-sion I foe to score fewer than 50 points against Austin Peay was Samford, Feb. 9, 2008. The Govs limited the Bulldogs to four fi rst-half fi eld goals and 14 for the entire contest; it’s the fewest made fi eld goals by an APSU opponent since Jan. 3, 2011 against Chattanooga.

■ TERRY TOSSING DOUBLE-DOU-

BLES: With 15 points and 11 boards against Oklahoma State, Taylor record-ed Austin Peay’s fi rst double-double against a high-major opponent since Chris Horton had 14 points, 10 boards against Kansas in the fi rst round of the 2016 NCAA Tournament. He recorded three double-doubles in his fi rst seven collegiate games; Horton, the last pre-cociously talented Austin Peay big man to play heavy minutes as a freshman, only recorded two double-doubles in his fi rst seven games.

■ CHALLENGING SLATE: With four non-conference contests against four high major opponents from different con-tests—Vanderbilt (SEC), Virginia (ACC), Oklahoma State (Big 12) and Illinois (Big 10)—the Govs are unique among Division I schools. Only the Govs, Hous-ton Baptist, Long Beach State, South Dakota State, Texas Southern, UCLA, VCU, Wichita State, Wisconsin and Wof-ford are scheduled to play four foes from four different high-major confer-ences during the 2017-18 season.

■ GUMM SHOE: After his 23-point out-burst in his fi rst start against Miami, Gumm is the fi rst Austin Peay frosh with two 20-point contests in his fi rst six col-legiate games since at least the turn of the century.

■ BIG TIME WINS PART DEUX: In the 25-point win against Miami, Austin Peay’s fi rst three victories have come by at least 25 points-- the fi rst time in pro-gram history the Governors fi rst three wins have been by at least 25 points. It was Austin Peay’s fi rst win by 25 or more points against a Division I foe since March 2, 2013 (91-58, UT Mar-tin) and fi rst against a non-conference foe since Jan. 3, 2011 (89-57, Chatta-nooga).

■ TURNING AROUND: Against Oakland City, UNC Asheville, Bethel and Miami-

GOVERNORS DECREE ■ STRONG STARTS: For the fi rst time

since the 2013-14 season, the Govs won their fi rst two Ohio Valley Conference contests; a win against UT Martin would make APSU 3-0 in OVC play for the fi rst time since a 6-0 start to league play dur-ing the 2010-11 campaign. And for head coach Matt Figger, he became the fi rst APSU head coach to start his career with two wins to open conference play since George Fisher (1962-63) went 5-0 to open Vol State Athletic Conference play.

■ UGBA UNLEASED VOL. 2: In averaging a double-double (19.0 ppg, 10.5 rpg) on 60.5 percent (17-of-28) shooting against SIUE and EIU, senior Averyl Ugba earned both OVC Player and Newcomer of the Week honors for Jan. 2--the fi rst Gov to pull double-duty since Tyshwan Edmond-son (Jan. 24, 2011). He also earned Ten-nessee Sports Writers Association Men’s Basketball Player of the Week honors.

■ HOME COOKIN’: At 7-2 at home during the 2017-18 campaign, the Govs are one win away from their best home start since the 2009-10 season.

■ FURY, UNLEASHED: In Austin Peay’s seven victories this season, the Gover-nors average margin of victory is 24.9 ppg. The Govs have won fi ve games by 20 or more points, most in a single-season since the 2010-11 season.

■ DOUBLE-DOUBLE, TOIL & TROUBLE:

Ugba (17 points, career-high 11 re-bounds) and freshman Terry Taylor (12 points, 11 rebounds) made it back-to-back double-double nights. It’s the fi rst time a pair of Austin Peay teammates have posted double-doubles in back-to-back games since Feb. 10-13, 2016 when Chris Horton and Kenny Jones did so against Eastern Illinois and UT Martin.

■ TAYLOR AMONG FRESHMAN ELITE:

With fi ve double-doubles, Taylor is tied for eighth among the nation’s freshmen, alongside Michigan State’s Jaren Jack-son Jr., Villanova’s Omari Spellman and Duquesne’s Eric Williams Jr. His 4.14 of-fensive rebounds per game is tied with Duke’s Marvin Bagley III for tops nation-ally among freshmen and seventh over-all.

■ DECEMBER TO REMEMBER: A 4-3 mark in 2017’s fi nal month was Austin Peay’s fi rst December above .500 since the 2010-11 season.

■ TIME TO BOARD: Over the last fi ve games, the Govs hold a plus-6.6 advan-tage in rebounding margin, which has led to a 16.0-8.8 advantage on second-chance points during that span. Against Eastern Illinois, Austin Peay’s plus-17 (46-29) rebounding differential was its largest against a Division I foe since Feb. 26, 2015 against SIU Edwardsville.

-all featuring at least 25 points off turnover created by the Govs--Austin Peay averaged 31.5 points off turn-over.

■ FTC FIRSTS: The Governors 90-58 win against Bethel at Shaw Fitness Center on the Fort Campbell Military Installation offered a number of fi rsts. It was the fi rst collegiate basketball game competed at Fort Campbell, as well as the Governors fi rst home vic-tory away from the Dunn Center since 1975. And with a 32-point margin of victory, it marks the fi rst time since the 2001-02 season that Austin Peay’s fi rst two wins of a season came by margins of 30 or more points.

■ TURNING AROUND II: The Govs also recorded 19 steals against Bethel, most since Jan. 29, 2008 (Southeast Missouri).

■ BENCH BATTLERS: Zach Glotta (13 points) and Steve Harris (11) each reached double fi gures as reserves against Miami--the fourth straight game that at least two members of Austin Peay’s second unit scored in double digits; the Govs reserves aver-aged 41.5 ppg during that span.

■ TAYLOR TOP DOG II: Taylor averaged 15.3 ppg and 9.0 rpg to earn the Nov. 20 OVC Freshman of the Week honor, piecing together back-to-back double-doubles in his fi rst two regular-season home appearances. He was one of fi ve Govs in double fi gures in Austin Peay’s home-opening 109-50 thump-ing of Oakland City, teaming with Ugba to become the fi rst APSU teammates with a double-double in the same game since Jan. 21, 2017. Against UNC Asheville, Taylor put the Govs on his back during the late stages of the game, carrying Austin Peay into over-time. His layup with 5.7 seconds left in regulation sent the Govs into over-time, and was part of his game-high 29-point, 10-rebound performance, making him the fi rst Gov since Chris Horton (Feb. 14-16, 2013) with back-to-back double-double outings as a freshman.

■ TURNING AROUND III: In home con-tests against Oakland City and UNC Asheville, the Govs posted back-to-back turnover differentials of plus-10 or more and 25 or more points off turnover; at no point did the Govs have two back-to-back contests of that nature in 2016-17.

■ STANDARD SET: The Govs had more points in the paint (70), points off turnover (39), second-chance (25), fast break (20) and bench (57) points against Oakland City than in any single game during the 2016-17 season.

■ GUMM SHOE II: Gumm’s 25 points against Oakland City were the most by an Austin Peay freshman since Will

GOVERNORS GAME NOTES

1STSeason for the Govs under head coach Matt Figger.

8New players on the roster for Austin Peay for the 2017-18 season.

5Number of OVC tournament champion-ships the Governors have claimed--the latest coming in March 2016.

5Number of times in the last six weeks an Austin Peay men’s basketball player has claimed at least one OVC weekly honor.

1,392Minutes returning for the Governors, fi fth-fewest in the nation (Miss. Valley State, 386; Pitt, 648; NC Central, 692; Kentucky, 890).

12THIn April, Figger became the 12th head coach in APSU history.

1990Last time Austin Peay debuted a season with a new head coach on the sidelines.

BY THE NUMBERSTriggs had 25 against Tennessee Tech in 2011. With Gumm (twice) and Taylor (twice) leading the Govs in scoring dur-ing the season’s opening four contests, it marks the fi rst time since at least the turn of the century a freshman has led Austin Peay in scoring in three or more consecutive games.

■ CENTURY-MARKING: The Governors 109 points against Oakland City marked a year almost to the day since their last sojourn over the century mark... against Oakland City, Nov. 14, 2016 (107-67). The 59-point margin of victory was Aus-tin Peay’s largest since defeating Berea by 55 points (108-53), Nov. 28, 2012.

■ TAYLOR STARTS STRONG: Taylor did something pretty unique in his fi rst regu-lar season apperance for the Red-and-White. The Bowling Green native led all scorers with 15 points against Vander-bilt; Austin Peay’s electronic record-keeping, which dates back to 2001-02, indicates that no other APSU true fresh-man in that time span has led all scorers in his collegiate debut.

■ NEW REGIME: The 2017-18 season will be a different one for Austin Peay State University men’s basketball. For one thing, it will be the fi rst time in 27 seasons that Dave Loos won’t patrol the sidelines. Following the retirement of the Ohio Valley Conference’s all-time wins leader, Austin Peay athletics direc-tor Ryan Ivey tabbed Matt Figger to lead Austin Peay into a new era of basketball.

■ CHANGES: Figger led a complete pro-gram overhaul during the spring, start-ing with a coaching staff that comprises almost entirely new faces. Rick Cabrera, Dalonte Hill and Sergio Rouco joined the staff as assistants, with Ryan McIntyre slotting into a newly-created Director of Operations position. The lone holdover

from last season is Hayden McClain, who transitioned from a graduate assistant to special assistant to the Head Coach.

■ GUESS WHO’S BACK: The transition didn’t stop on the sidelines. The Govs re-turn just four players from last season’s roster, with only Chris Porter-Bunton making more than fi ve starts. The red-shirt junior from Bowling Green, along with Glotta, attended the Athletes in Ac-tion Captains Academy in Zenia, Ohio over the summer to improve leadership capabilities to lead this young squad.

■ HELPING OUT H-TOWN: Spearheaded by McClain, the Governors heeded Hous-ton head coach Kelvin Sampson’s call for aid in the aftermath of Hurricane Harvey, organizing the move of supplies from the Dunn Center lobby to APSU’s Technology building; eventually, McClain and APSU academic services guru Ryan Combs drove a UHaul loaded down with supplies all the way to Houston.

■ INTERNATIONAL MEN OF MYSTERY:

This Austin Peay squad will feature a dis-tinctly international fl avor. One of Figger’s fi rst additions was Ivan Cucak, a seven-footer from Toronto who spent last season at Don Bosco (Indiana) Prep. A Spanish national team fi xture also made the jour-ney to join Figger in Clarksville, with 6-6 Acoydan McCarthy already breaking into a crowded backcourt rotation.

■ TV TIME: For the second year in a row, the Govs will host UT Martin before a na-tional audience, with the Jan. 4 contest against the Skyhawks slated for air exclu-sively on CBS Sports Network. CBS Sports Network, the 24-hour home of CBS Sports is available across the country through lo-cal cable, video and telco providers and via satellite on DirecTV Channel 221 and

5Wins by 20 or more points by the Govs in 2017-18; most in a single season since the 2010-11 campaign.

3Cucak is the third seven-footer in Austin Peay history, joining Tomas Janusauskas and Eddie Perdue.

■ BRAND-NEW ROLES: With Figger on board, new faces have been added to the coaching staff. For the fi rst time, the Govs will have a dedicated Director of Op-erations person, fi lled by Ryan McIntyre; Hayden McClain, who served as a defacto ops person a year ago, is staying aboard as special assistant to the Head Coach. Joe Cronn becomes the fi rst-ever Strength and Conditioning coach focused solely on men’s basketball.

■ FIGG, LOOS and CvC: Figger and former head coach Dave Loos were featured parts of the American Cancer Society’s Coaches vs. Cancer Tennessee Tip-Off. Figger spoke on the panel at the Sept. 28 event, in addition to donating $1,000 of his own money and challenging other coaches across the state to do the same, while Loos was a guest speaker and was awarded the fi rst-ever Coach Dave Loos MVP Award, given to an individual display-ing their dedication to the fi ght against cancer.

■ NEXT CLASS: Already two Governors have come aboard for the 2018-19 sea-

son. Matheus Silveira, a smooth seven-footer from Brazil, will pair nicely with Ivan Cucak up front to double the number of players 7-0 or taller in program history, while Antwuan Butler, a tough baller from Philadelphia, will bring another element to the Austin Peay backcourt.

■ GOVS GOING PRO: A trio of former Gov-ernors inked their fi rst professional deals during the offseason. Assane Diop re-turned to Japan, where his prep stardom catapulted him to America and eventually Austin Peay--he played for Gifu Seiryu He-roes in the Challenge Summer League. Kenny Jones also signed to play in France, where he joined Gravenchon of the NM2 Group C. A third member of last season’s squad, John Murry recently inked a deal with the Saint John Riptide of the National Basketball League of Canada. Below is a full list of Govs known to occupy the pro ranks at some point during the 2017 season, and the country/league(s) they played in:

• Wesley Channels (Belgium)• Khalil Davis (Sweden)

• Assane Diop (Japan)• Adrian Henning (Mexico)• Chris Horton (NBA G-League/Hungary)• Kenny Jones (France)• John Murry (Canada)• Drake Reed (France)• Derek Wright (Switzerland)

FIGGER YEAR-BY-YEAR

MATT FIGGERPosition: Head Coach • Alma Mater: Eastern Kentucky, 1995Experience: First Season • Career Record: 7-7at Austin Peay: First Season • Career Record: 7-7

Thursday, April 6, 2017, Matt Figger was introduced as the 12th head men’s basketball coach in Austin Peay State University history.

Figger came to Austin Peay on the heels of a whirlwind Final Four run as the associate head coach and recruiting coordinator under Frank Martin at South Carolina. The Gamecocks were the East Region champion, taking down Marquette, Duke, Baylor and Florida on the way to Phoenix.

After arriving at South Carolina in 2012, Figger assisted Martin in the revival of a program that hadn’t enjoyed a 20-win season since 2008-09, had not advanced to an NCAA Tournament since 2003-04 and had not won an NCAA Tournament game since 1973. After winning 14 games the fi rst two seasons in Columbia, Figger and Co. broke .500 for the fi rst time in 2014-15, fi nishing 17-16, then won 25 games and reached as high as No. 19 in the Associated Press Top-25 poll last season.

In case you somehow missed it, the Gamecocks became NCAA Tournament darlings in March 2017. After bowing out to Alabama in the SEC Tournament quarterfi nals, the seventh-seeded Gamecocks thrashed Marquette, 93-73, in the opening round of the NCAA Tournament, erased a double-digit lead to score a mighty upset of second-seeded Duke to advance to the Sweet 16 and toppled Baylor 70-50 to advance to the East Region championship game against fellow SEC foe Florida.

Trailing at halftime for the third time during the NCAA Tournament, the Gamecocks shut down the Gators three-point assault in the second half and fed SEC Player of the Year Sindarius Thornwell—a fi nd of Figger’s in his capacity as Martin’s recruiting coordinator—for a game-high 26 points and East Regional Most Outstanding Player honors. The Gamecocks were fi nally knocked out of the tournament by West top seed and top-ranked Gonzaga in the Final Four.

Two players on the Gamecocks Final Four squad got their NBA chance in June 2017--Thornwell, the 48th overall selection in the NBA Draft, with the Los Angeles Clippers via draft night trade with Milwaukee, and PJ Dozier, who inked a free-agent deal with the Los Angeles Lakers.

Figger served on Martin’s staff dating back to 2007, Martin’s fi rst season at Kansas State. In his decade on Martin’s staff, Figger served in a variety of roles, assuming the associate head coach role in 2013-14 upon Brad Underwood’s departure for Stephen F. Austin.

At Kansas State, Figger was on a staff that secured at least 21 wins and fi nished fi fth or better in the Big 12 each season. In his fi rst season on staff, Kansas State won its fi rst NCAA Tournament game since 1988 after posting a 20-win season—just its fourth since 1990. The 2009-10 team won a school-record 29 games and appeared in the programs fi rst Elite Eight in over two decades, defeating six ranked opponents along the way and fi nishing the year ranked seventh in both the Associated Press and ESPN/USA Today Coaches Top-25 polls.

At both Kansas State and South Carolina, Figger served as recruiting coordinator. He inked two McDonald’s All-Americans at Kansas State, including Michael Beasley, who would earn National Freshman and Player of the Year in 2008 before becoming a fi rst-round pick in the NBA Draft. Beasley was one of four All-Americans—along with Denis Clemente, Jacob Pullen and Bill Walker—tutored by Figger at Kansas State.

Figger’s fi rst Division I coaching experience came with John Pelphrey at South Alabama, helping lead the Jaguars to a Sun Belt Tournament title in 2006 and a regular-season championship in 2007. After building through recruiting the fi rst three years under Pelphrey, the Jaguars broke through in 2006 with 24 wins, a 14-game improvement that was the biggest turnaround in the NCAA that season. Figger helpd the Jaguars advance to their fi rst NCAA Tournament since 1998, where the bowed out to eventual national champion Florida in the fi rst round.

Figger joined Pelphrey for three months at Arkansas in 2007 as director of operations before signing on at Kansas State as an assistant coach.

In his Division I stops at South Carolina, Kansas State and South Alabama, Figger made three NIT and six NCAA Tournament appearances, including two Sweet 16 and two Elite Eight appearances, in addition to the 2017 Final Four.

Figger earned his coaching stripes in the junior college ranks, breaking into coaching at Wabash Valley Community College in 1993-94, helping lead the Warriors to a 29-3 record, before heading to Vincennes (Ind.) College for fi ve seasons, where he coached Clarksville native and future NBA All-Star Shawn Marion for two seasons, as well as future NBA player Tyrone Nesby. The Trailblazers went 132-39 during Figger’s time on NJCAA Hall of Famer Dan Sparks’ staff, advancing to three NJCAA National Tournaments and capturing four straight Region XII titles (1995-98); the 1998 Vincennes squad went 31-5 and fi nished fi fth at the national tournament.

He capped his junior college coaching career with a three-year stop at Odessa College, helping the Wranglers to a 27-7 mark and NJCAA National appearance in 2001.

In all, Figger advanced to the NJCAA National Tournament four times. He coached fi ve NJCAA All-Americans—Marion, Mitchell Dunn, DeShay Jones, Tarone Barker and Janavor Weatherspoon—and had 35 players sign Division I scholarships.

EASTERN ILLINOIS RECAP

CLARKSVILLE—If the fi rst two games of the 2017-18 OVC schedule are any indica-tion, the rest of the league is going to have a problem with Terry Taylor and Averyl Ugba.Austin Peay’s dynamic post duo again post-

ed double-doubles, turning a close fi rst-half game into a second-half rout in a 70-54 de-molition of Eastern Illinois, Saturday. The fi rst half was closer than head coach

Matt Figger may have liked, particularly given an early 8-0 Panther run that put the visitors ahead six minutes in. The opening 20 minutes turned into a slugfest, particu-larly on the Austin Peay side; the Govs found themselves beset by early foul trouble, which precipitated extended run for the reserves. Those reserves, particularly Zach Glotta

and Steve Harris, answered the call and then some. Harris hit all three of his fi rst-half shots, while Glotta hopped off the pine to score 10 points in 16 minutes on the night, including eight in the fi rst half. Harris’ three with seven seconds left in the fi rst half gave the Govs a lead they would not relinquish. The Panthers would get within a bucket

early in the second half, but an Ugba jump-er with just under 15 minutes left touched off a 27-13 APSU run to end the contest, highlighted by seven of freshman Dayton Gumm’s 10 points and six points each from Ugba and Taylor swelled the lead as high as 20 points.
