AUST is extremely proud and delighted to inform that, “Bristy Sarker”- a graduate from

Department of Architecture of AUST has been honored with ‘KSRM AWARDS FOR FUTURE

ARCHITECTS 2019’ for Best Architecture Thesis’ in association with IAB.

Bristy has received ‘Second Prize’ for her thesis project titled “Pottery Village-A Sustainable

Settlement of Potter”. She is from 32nd

batch of Department of Architecture and completed her

thesis work in session ‘Fall 2018”. Along with the student, the Department and the studio

teachers- Prof. Dr. M A Muktadir, Ms. Ayasha Siddiqua and Ms. Nujaba Binte Kabir too were

acknowledged in the Award program for their excellent guidance. Her thesis supervisor was Ms.

Razia Sultana.

Mr. S. M. Rezaul Karim, Minister of Housing and Public Works; Mr. Mohibul Hasan Chowdhury, Deputy Minister, Ministry of

Education and others.

A total of 28 projects from 10 IAB accredited architecture schools of the country were submitted

for the competition. Each school was asked to recommend at least three well completed thesis

projects from last academic year and only then accepted for participation in the Student Awards

Program at national level. All the entries were then publicly displayed in a three-day long

Exhibition from December 25 to December 27, 2019 at IAB Center. The exhibition was open for

all and widely visited by students, architects, academician and professionals.

A panel of eminent jurors Ar. Mohammad Ali Naqi (Vice-chancellor of Stamford University

Bangladesh), Dr. Fuad H Mallick (Professor and Dean, School of Design, BRAC University),

Dr. Farida Nilufar (Professor of Architecture at BUET), Ar. SaifUl Haque (Aga Khan award

2019 winner and Director Research and Design program, Bengal Institute for Architecture,

Landscape and Settlement) and Ar. Mustafa Ameen (Principle and Proprietor of Domus

Architects) evaluated these projects.

Few Photos of “Pottery Village”

The award giving ceremony was held on 8th January 2020 at Hotel Inter Continental Dhaka .Mr

.S. M. Rezaul Karim MP-Honorable Minister, Minister of Housing and Public Works; Mr.

Mohibul Hasan Chowdhury MP-Honorable Deputy Minister, Ministry of Education of Govt. of

the People’s Republic of Bangladesh; Shahriar Jahan-DMD, KSRM Steel Plant Ltd; Ar. Jalal

Ahmed-President IAB were present on the occasion and awarded the crest, certificate and

cheques to the winners, their institution and mentors. Along with them, participating students,

their parents, academicians and professionals were too present in this grand program.

“KSRM Awards for the Future Architects” is a student award program organized by KSRM

(Kabir Steel Re-Rolling Mills) in association with IAB. The award is intended to recognize the

best thesis/final projects of the graduating students of IAB accredited architecture schools of

Bangladesh, to honor the studio teachers, the schools and to showcase the selected exemplary

thesis/ final projects of the architecture schools. The Award program will be held once in a year,

beginning from 2019.
