Since its entry into force in February 2019, Japanese customers can purchase most EU products duty free – if everything is done correctly. An EU expert will wrap up the most important parts of the EPA and report about its implementation, followed by a short panel discussion about the most common errors to be avoided

Dr. Martin Schulz has been monitoring and advising Japan’s economic world from one of its leading think tanks for more than 20 years. A native German, he is a sought-after speaker in many countries, including Austria, as well as a candid interview partner for major international TV channels.
In his presentation, he will show how Japan has become the champion of free trade and cooperation in Asia. With the Olympics, the focus is turning to improving productivity, digitalization, and innovation across sectors. Even stronger cooperation, “co-creation” with partners in Europe and Asia will be necessary to achieve these goals.

Dr. Parissa Haghirian is professor of International Management at Sophia University in Tokyo as well as visiting professor at HEC Paris, Keio University, Waseda University, Aalto University and the University of Vienna. From 2011 to 2012, she held a professorship in Japanese Management at Ludwig-Maximilians-Universität (LMU) in Munich. She lives and works in Japan since 2004 and is an internationally renowned expert in international management with a focus on Japanese management.
Parissa is the author of a number of books, such as “Understanding Japanese Management Practices” (2010) and “Successful Cross-cultural Management: a Guide for International Managers” (2011).

Mr. Noboru Nakatani is a leading authority in international cybercrime prevention with many years at the head of Interpol’s cyber security division in Singapore. For the last two years, he has been leading Yahoo Japan in the implementation of new technologies including AI in order to prevent crimes as heinous as child pornography and as widespread as trademark infringement, as well as many other forms of cybercrime. He will brief us on risks we face as companies and individuals and how to protect our companies and ourselves from harm caused by the many tricks of cybercriminals.

Conrad Heraud is president of Heraud Associates, a management development and consulting company specializing in innovative thinking. He graduated with a Master of Science degree in psychology from the University of Canterbury in New Zealand. She will introduce Austria’s Paralympic participation in the Summer Games 2020 as well as the planed Austria Hospitality House that is to be hosted from 25 August to 6 October 2020 in Tokyo. Another most interesting opportunity for Austrian companies and their Japanese partners to participate in a world event they never will forget in their lifetime.
17.20 OVERCOME YOUR LIMITS – MY RECIPE FOR SUCCESS ANDREAS ONEA Andreas Onea, an Austrian para-swimmer who won ten international medals during his career, including Bronze at the Paralympic Games in Rio de Janeiro 2016, has already faced many challenges in his life. Through his sport, Andreas Onea has learned to overcome these challenges and to use adverse circumstances for the better. His recipe for success is well applicable also in other areas such as business as well personal life.
