• Auschwitz Birkenau was first established on May 26th of 1940.

• There were said to be a higher death count In Auschwitz Berkenau than in any other camp buid with the same purpose. The Number of deaths is from 2.1 to 2.5 million people.

• Auschwitz Berkenau, as many other camps served more than one purpose. One of wich was to serve as an extermination camp. This was were most of the people who were transferred into Auschwitz were killed in Berkenau. Berkenau served as a work camp as well. The people who were fit to work were made to do harsh labor like building fundations for what would become more prisoner blocks/barracks.

• The list of facts of Auschwitz Berkenau is amazingly long. One example is that when it was first built it’s primary purpose was to imprison poles who were sent by the germans into imprisonment. Also The Barracks that were assigned to the prisoners originally were horse stables. Although Barracks were assigned immediately after the camp was built, bunks were introduced a year after in 1941 for more prisoner capacity. Lastly Auschwitz Berkenau was the only camp with fresh running water.

Belzec

• One of the most mysterious concentration camps was Belzec. Belzec was built in Southeastern Poland.

• Camp Belzec was on of the shortest lived concentration camps to be built. It was established in November 1, 1941. It’s prisoners were liberated in the summer of 1944.

• Camp Belzec was said to be the cause of the deaths of 500,000-600,000 thousand people.

• Belzec unlike many others served but one porppose, it was a labor camp.

• Camp Belzec was one of the most interesting camps of the ones built by the Germans.

• Prisoners were forced to run through the gates of Belzec naked.

• Belzec was one of the few camps to use electrocution as a method of killing they’re prisoners.

• Another interesting but chilling fact is that there were almost no records or evidence of the prisoners who were held in Belzec.

• Although operations were stopped in 1942 the camp was liberated two years after because the Germans were desperately trying get rid of the thousands of bodies that were left after the killings stopped.

Bergen-Belsen

• Bergen-Belsen was located in lower Saxony northwestern Germany.

• Camp Bergen-Belsen was built in the Autumm of 1940.

• It wasn’t liberated until April 15, 1945.

• Camp Bergen-Belsen although not very small killed over 35,000 thousand people.

• Camp Majdaneck was located in Lublin,Poland.

• I was established in April of 1942.

• The camp was liberated by 1944.

• Camp Majdaneck killed an astonoshing 360,000 thousand people while it was running.

• Majdaneck providedslave labor for munitions work and Steyr-Damler-Puch weapons factory.

• The camp had no security zones around it.

• Majdaneck was located in terrain in which it was easily accessible and visible by the public.

• People would often drive by the camp, seeing it was in operation from the smoke coming from the chimneys yet the did nothing.

• The Camp itself not only held Jewish P.O.W’s, it was also built by them.

Westerbork

• Camp Westerbork was located in the Northeastern part of the Neatherlands.

• Westerbork was established on October 1939.

• It was Liberated on April 12th, 1945.

• Camp Westerbork was unlike many camps because it was a transit camp. In other words it’s job was to transport prisoners to Nazi extermination and concentration camps.

• There were no documents of killed people because it was only a transit camp.

• The camp was originally a Jewish refugee for Jews that had illegally entered the Netherlands.

• The German authorities took over in July 1, 1942, and made it into a transit camp.

• Camp westerbork had a school, hair-dresser, an orchestra, and a restaurant. These were made available to the prisoners to avoid any trouble in the transportation.
