WHAT IS DESIGNATED PANEL?

With a designated panel, you can start

producing solar energy without purchasing a

solar panel on your own roof.

Renting a panel is a good solar energy solution,

for example, for people living in a block of flats

or terraced house or for a small business

owner.

Only 4,40 €/month. Panel’s production is

credited on electricity bill.

We offer you an easy way to influence the

amount of renewable energy in Finland: we

promise to build as many solar power plants as

there is demand.

BUSINESS MODEL

Helen invests, builds and owns the solar powerplant

Helen rents each panel and customer paysmonthly fee 4,40 € / panel

Customer receive the panel’s entire output without deductions

Designated panel customer is also Helen’selectricity customer (any kind of electricitycontract) and Helen can compensate the production of customer’s solar panel(s) in the electricity bill

Helen will credit the electricity produced by the panel in accordance with the spot price. The average credit is one euro per month, depending on the weather.

First designated solar power plant was sold out immediately, 1 194 panels

The website was opened in October 2014 and the plant was ready in March 2015

What we communicated:

Suvilahti was the largest solar power plant in Finland at that time

It was built in the center of Helsinki

And it was built with a unique community spirit: anyone can rent their own panel.

Media interest was great: we host the media for one day and carried journalists and photographers on the crane above the roof.

DESIGNATED PANEL IS ONE SOLUTIONTO PREVENT CLIMATE CHANGE

The average annual production of one panel

corresponds to 11-14 % of the electricity consumed by

a one-bedroom apartment.

The average credit is about one euro per month,

leaving approx. EUR 3.40/mth to pay on the panel

(price varies according to production).
