AUGUST
8 - 182019
FESTIVAL
The Montréal Pride Festival unfolds every
year with over 150 activities including the
Parade and Community Day, celebrating
the advances achieved by the sexual and
gender diversity communities. Aimed at
raising awareness about the challenges in
obtaining the full recognition of our rights
at home and in the world, the Festival’s
programming is three-pronged and
presents community and culture as well as
festive aspects.
While the Organizing Committee is already
at work on the next edition of Montréal
Pride Festival, it has added another task to
its planning. The Montréal Pride Festival
will shortly be tabling the application for
Montréal to become host city for the
2023 WorldPride! If it is held in Montréal,
this most important gathering of sexual and
gender diversity in the world will be the largest
festival, all event types combined, to be held
in Canada in 2023!

On Community Day, kiosks will line Ste-Catherine Street East, between
Saint-Hubert and Papineau Streets. This event allows both members
of the sexual and gender diversity communities and the public at large
to discover a host of community organizations and groups, businesses,
sport and socio-cultural associations, each more colorful than the next.
The Day aims to mobilize, raise awareness and entertain.

Beginning symbolically in the original West End LGBTQ+ quarter,
the 2.7 km route ends in today’s Gay Village in the East end. Flowing
along René-Lévesque Boulevard, the Parade starts at Metcalfe
Street and stops at Alexandre-DeSève Street. A festive atmosphere
will delight you with all kinds of colorful characters, theme floats,
dancers, musicians and representatives of our sexual and gender
diversity community. Join us for the parade and come support and
greet our elected officials and representatives of all the community
organizations and of the Indigenous Peoples as well as the businesses
and organizations who will parade in solidarity with us.
