The mission of the Monticello Chamber of Commerce & Industry is as follows: The Monticello Chamber is her to continually sup-port, serve and enhance all member business sectors in the Monticello area. We strive to strengthen communication among business, industry, school, government, service organi-zations and area residents. If you are pas-sionate about the mission of the Chamber, please consider a position on our diverse board. Submit your application to be considered for one of the spots that will open up at the end of this year. Board members accept a 3 year term and we meet on the second Tuesday of each month (except for July) at 7:30 am. We also hold various Chamber functions throughout the year. Honorary Commodore Award Recipient: Jim Jones
Congratulations to Jim Jones, our Commodore Award recipient. Jim is the husband of Marie Jones, as-sistant director of the Cham-ber. He jumps in and helps us every chance he can. Thank you for always being there for us and the count-less behind the scenes tasks you do for us.
Citizen of the Year: Larry Kounkel
Monticello Lion Larry Kounkel was awarded the Citizen of the Year by representatives from the Chamber, Lions and Rotary. Fellow Lion To-ny Velishek presented him the plaque during Riverfest.
Business of the Year Nominations Business of the Year nominations will be com-ing out in the September newsletter. Sherburne National Wildlife Refuge Sherburne National Wildlife Refuge Thanks Dedicated Adopt-a-Road Volunteers Adopt-a-Road participants volunteer for Sherburne Nation-al Wildlife Refuge (NWR) and work to clean roadsides that border and bisect refuge land. This spring, during the months of April, May and June, 125 individuals volunteered their time and cleaned approximately 22 miles of refuge roads! Sherburne NWR would like to recognize all of the Adopt-a-Road volunteers for their commitment, hard work, and willingness to help keep the refuge pristine.
