SLIM has taken the initiative of creating a forum that puts the country first while bringing together the leaders and innovators across different fields. IGNITE 2020 was held on the 25 th July at Jasmine Hall, BMICH. The keynote address was delivered by Lt. Gen. Mahesh Senanayake - Commander of the Army, who indeed inspired an audience of over 300 significant decision makers in Sri Lanka.

Among the distinguished panelists were; Former national Cricket Captain- Deshabandu Roshan Mahanama, Chairman/ Group CEO of Laugfs Holdings - Deshabandu W K H Wegapitiya, Chairman and Managing Director of Mount Lavinia Hotel (Pvt) Ltd and Ceylon Hotels Ltd,- Mr. Sanath Ukwatte, Chairman of Global Strategic Corporate Sustainability (Pvt) Ltd,- Dr. Ravi Fernando and Business Strategy & Social Research Consultant and Chairperson of Mother Sri Lanka Trust- Dr. Janaki Kuruppu. The session was moderated by Mr. Graham Marshall- CEO of CIC Holdings.

This forum took place on the 31st of July 2019 at BMICH to highlight the current Asian Trends and to Promote the Certified Professional Marketer (CPM) program among the country’s top Marketers. With the topic of the evening being – ‘Dynamic Challenges in an Emerging Asia’, the Keynote speaker, Mr. Ravi Jayawardena addressed the audience of over 100 participants along with the distinguished panelists – Mr. Dileep Mudadeniya, VP John Keells Group and Head of Brand Marketing of Cinnamon Hotels and Resorts, and Mr. Dulith Herath, Founder and Chairman of Kapruka.com. The panel discussion was moderated by Dr. Samantha Rathnayake, Faculty Member/ Business Consultant of PIM which was followed by an informative Q&A session and a raffle draw.

ONE DAY WORKSHOP FOR SLIM RESOURCE PERSONNEL

TRAIN THE TRAINER

A one-day workshop was organized for SLIM Resource Personnel with the aim of enhancing their teaching and evaluation skills. Prof. Arosha Adikaram; Chairperson – Education Reforms Committee, Senior Lecturer – Dept. of HRM, Faculty of Management & Finance of Universityof Colombo and Dr. Asoka Jinadasa, Master Trainer in Human Potential Development conducted the workshop on 03rd August 2019 at Taj Samudra, Grand Crystal Ballroom premises. This workshop offered practical guidance on adult learning, new trends in teaching, teaching techniques, student engagement management and Evaluation Frames for ourvaluable resource panel.

Diploma In Strategic Brand Management (DSBM) Intake 2, 2018 students brand launch was held on 11th August 2019 at four different locations; Laugfs supermarket (Nugegoda, Kohuwala, Kandana) & Super K, Piliyandala, successfully. Mr Cheyne Wickrmathilake, Mr. Sajith Silva and Mr. Shalika Alahakoon participated in the event as the honourable judges. The objective of organizing the event was to give the students a hands-on real life experience of their classroom learning.

Sri Lanka Institute of Marketing signed up an MOU with Ceylon Agro industries (Prima Group – Sri Lanka) on 6th August 2019 at Ceylon Agro Industries, Seeduwa premises with the presence of Mr. Suranjith Swaris – President SLIM , Mr. Sanath Senanayake, CEO/ED - SLIM and Ms. Nanduni Dahanayaka, Manager – Education, Mr. Malitha Fernando, Assistant Manager – Education Operations and Ms. Hasani Hettige, Senior Executive – SLIM Business School. Mr. Shun Tien Shing, General Manager, Mr Sajith Gunarathne, Deputy General Manager, Mr. Achala Ramanayeka, Brand Manager of Ceylon Agro Industries (Prima Group – Sri Lanka) also took part in the event.

The newest addition to the SLIM Educational product portfolio, Diploma in Digital Marketing was launched recently in the presence of Mr. Gamika De Silva, Head of Marketing and Sales at Seylan Bank Plc, Mr. Suranjith Swaris, President of SLIM, Mr. Roshan Fernando, Vice President Education of SLIM and Mr. Seninda Bandara, Lecturer of SLIM.

The diploma in digital marketing programme is designed to provide the most important digital marketing perceptions, the best practices and emerging concepts in digital marketing. It further focuses on developing a comprehensive digital marketing plan that includes strategies, tools and techniques to meet business objectives.

A guest session with Mr. Palitha Jayathilake, Country Manager of Servier International for students of the Certificate in Pharmaceutical Marketing was held on 24th of August at SLIM Business School Colombo. He talked on the current trends and aspects in Pharma Marketing as well as how a qualification builds knowledge and skills for a competitive edge.

Sri Lanka Institute of Marketing (SLIM) has collaborated with the MJF Charitable Foundation to provide a tailor-made professional qualification in sales & marketing to uplift the standards of the less privileged community. As an initiative from the SLIM Corporate Solutions, we will continue our national responsibility through various CSR initiatives in future to create professional employable youth to the nation. The event was graced by Mr. Merrill J. Fernando, Settlor of MJF Charitable Foundation and Mr. Suranjith Swaris, President of Sri Lanka Institute of Marketing (SLIM) and official representatives from both the organizations.

SLIM Joins Hands to Host Inaugural Memorial

Oration of Professor Uditha Liyanage

SLIM GAMATA MARKETING had a stall at EAT STREET COLOMBO in Green Path from 11am to 11pm on 17th and 18th. We have given the opportunity to one of the success

stories of GAMATA MARKETING ; an entrepreneurial lady named Chamila from Matara.

We have provided the stall and she has been able to do sales with related to sea food products FISH MURUKKU, FISH EMBULTHIYAL etc. Ceremonial start was held on Saturday with some invitees and sponsors (HNB Finance).

The Sri Lanka Institute of Marketing (SLIM) collaborated with the Post Graduate Institute of Management (PIM) and the Chartered Institute of Marketing (CIM) to commemorate and appreciate the great service rendered to the marketing fraternity by the late Professor Uditha Liyanage to present the above Oration. The oration was delivered by Deshamanya Dr Mahesh Amalean who delivered an inspiring keynote address. The commemoration Oration ceremony was held at the PIM auditorium on 9th August 2019

Patrick Low – Founder / Creative Partner Goodfellas, Cannes Juror, Effie Asia Pacific Senior Juror and Lin Gong-Deutschmann – Managing Director at Design Corp visited Sri Lanka to share a learning experience with Advertising Agency Members in Sri Lanka.

Effie Judging Effie first and second rounds judging headed by the panel heads Mr. Gamika de Silva and Mr. Tharanga Gunasekara were held on 1st and 2nd week of August at Waters Edge with the guidance of the Head of Jury Mr. Irfaan Ahamed.

The judges’ brief for NASCO 2019 was headed by Mr. Suranjith Swaris – President SLIM and Mr. Nandana Wickramage - Advisor NASCO 2019 on 07th of August at Taj Samudra.

A workshop for the NASCO 2019 participants was held on 07th August with 300++ participants at SLIM Business School Colombo recently. It was conducted by Mr. Ravi Dadlani - Head of the Judging Panel NASCO 2019, Managing Director/CEO, CEAT Kelani International Tyres (Pvt) Ltd - and Mr. Stephan Paulraj - Jury Member, Founder/ Senior Consultant, Cloud Consultancies and PPOD.

The Sri Lanka Institute of Marketing (SLIM) joined hands with BDO Partners who came on board as the official audit partner of the Effie Awards and SLIM Brand Excellence. The Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed with BDO Partners at Waters Edge. BDO Partners will supervise and conduct a comprehensive audit for the online judging sessions, which enhance the transparency of the entire judging process in Effie Awards 2019 and SLIM Brand Excellence 2019, which are the most prestigious honours conferred on the local marketing fraternity.

different divisions and companies within the group. Past Presidents T. M.

Charitha Jayasinghe & T. M. HarshanSenadira are serving as the club mentors and T. M. Hasfan Jailan served as the Speechcraft Coordinator representing the Division. LOLC Group Managing Director Mr. Kapila Jayawardane graced the occasion as the Chief Guest while District Director T. M. Sarma Mahalingam was the guest of honour.
