A Message from the

Chamber CEO... Non-Profit Development Workshops Aimed to Strengthen Leadership & Volunteers in their Organizations

The Tracy Chamber will be presenting (2) workshops this summer dedicated to the ongoing education and development of Non - Profit groups in our community. With the leadership of Scott McFarland, a local pastor and

expert in non-profit development, the Chamber has coordinated two workshops that I encourage all Non-Profit board members and volunteers to attend. The first workshop will take place Tuesday, August 22nd from 9AM-10:30AM at the Chamber office and the topic will be: Boards that Make an Impact. In this workshop, non-profits will learn how to recruit the right leadership that will provide guidance, oversight and stability to their organization. This workshop will also teach organizations to create annual processes that will ensure their goals and objectives are being accomplished. The second workshop will be Tuesday, September 19th from 9AM-10:30AM at the Chamber office and the topic will be: Making Volunteers Your Best Resource. In this workshop, non-profits will learn to identify the strengths of their volunteers and develop roles and committees to support the organization’s mission. This workshop will also encourage organizations to motivate, praise and recognize volunteers to create the culture their organization desires. Both Non-Profit workshops are free for Chamber members and $20 each for non-members. All interested in attending must register by calling the Chamber office at 209-835-2131. There is limited seating for each workshop, so I encourage you to make your reservation early! The Chamber is committed to the ongoing development of not only our businesses but our organizations in Tracy. We aim to bring classes and workshops throughout the year to help strengthen our businesses and organizations and help them achieve their full potential. Stay tuned for more details on the upcoming workshops for the last quarter of the year and take a couple hours out of your day to work “on” your business instead of “in” your business!

-Sofia Valenzuela, CEO, Tracy Chamber of Commerce

BUSINESS QUOTE OF THE MONTH: “Doing business without advertising is like winking at a girl

in the dark. You know what you are doing but nobody else does” - Steuart Henderson Britt

Ambassador Spotlight: Betsy Moreno

Betsy Moreno joined the Chamber Ambassador Group 2 years ago but she is not new to Tracy. Betsy has been in Tracy for over 30 years and has been actively involved in several organizations such as

Tracy Woman’s Club and Central Valley Association of Realtors. Betsy is the broker/owner of California Advantage Real Estate , a brokerage that has been around for 12 years. Betsy was on a mission to create a team of agents that had the same values and ethics as her and she quickly found benefits in having her agents licensed as Realtors versus Real Estate Agents. The difference between the two lies in that Realtors are members of a national association and abide by a code of ethics. In Betsy’s experience, there are great benefits to enlisting Realtors on her team and she has successfully brought on talented Realtors to service their clients in Tracy and surrounding areas. Here are some questions we asked Betsy to share with our members: What Makes Your Business Unique ? “My agents and I are very people-oriented. We love being a part of Downtown Tracy as our office is located on 6th Street in front of the Plaza. You will find our office on many occasions hosting parties during a Block Party or Wine Stroll and we welcome the public to stop in and get something to eat and drink!” How Do You Market Your Business? “I strongly believe in being part of the community and you will see myself and my agents are very involved by attending events and participating in several charities. The best way to market ourselves is to be around and be seen and build relationships that can result into future customers.” What do you attribute your success to? “The success of California Advantage Real Estate lies in the great team we have and the excellent ability to satisfy our customers”. The next time you see Betsy around town, thank her for all her support to the Chamber and its members as an Ambassador! If you would like to connect directly with Betsy Moreno call (209)836-3300.
