WELCOME

CALL TO WORSHIP

All who hunger—gather gladly. We come to feast on the life-giving Word. Here, love abounds and grace overflows. Here, blessings multiply as gifts are shared. Come—let us pour ourselves out in prayer and praise, and open ourselves to renewal and rest. Let us worship God!

HYMN

CALL TO CONFESSION

PRAYER OF CONFESSION

O God who cares for us more than we can imagine, we pause to confess our wrongdoings. We withhold our love, hoard our belongs, and give up hope. We are not honest with one another or with you. In the quietness of our worship, remind us once again of your constant love for each one of your children: the weak, the strong, the poor, the rich. the young, the old.

3

Remind us of your call to share your love with one another. We pray in the name of Jesus.

PRAYERS OF SILENT AND INDIVIDUAL CONFESSION

WORDS OF ASSURANCE

Now stand firm in your faith, covered by the saving grace of God and ready to proclaim the gospel of peace. I declare to you, in the name of Jesus Christ, we are forgiven! Thanks be to God.

RESPONSE OF PRAISE “Glory Be to the Father” Gloria Patri Glory be to the Father, And to the Son, And to the Holy Ghost; As it was in the beginning, Is now, and ever shall be, World without end. Amen. Amen.

PRAYER FOR ILLUMINATION

FIRST LESSON Isaiah 55:1-5

1Ho, everyone who thirsts, come to the waters; and you that have no money, come, buy and eat! Come, buy wine and milk without money and without price. 2Why do you spend your money for that which is not bread, and your labor for that which does not satisfy? Listen carefully to me, and eat what is good, and delight yourselves in rich food. 3Incline your ear, and come to me; listen, so that you may live. I will make with you an everlasting covenant, my steadfast, sure love for David. 4See, I made him a witness to the peoples, a leader and commander for the peoples. 5See, you shall call nations that you do not know, and nations that do not know you shall run to you, because of the LORD your God, the Holy One of Israel, for he has glorified you.

SOLO “Panis Angelicus” Text: Latin Communion Hymn Setting: César Franck (1822-1890)

Ruth Tedder DiLorenzo, soprano

Panis angelicus fit panis hominum; Dat panis cœlicus figuris terminum: O res mirabilis!

Manducat Dominum pauper, servus et humilis.

Te trina Deitas

unaque poscimus: Sic nos tu visita, sicut te colimus; Per tuas semitas

duc nos quo tendimus, Ad lucem quam inhabitas.

Thus Angels' Bread is made

the Bread for us today: the Living Bread from heaven

with figures dost away: O wondrous gift indeed! the poor and lowly may

upon their Lord and Master feed.

Thee, therefore, we implore, O Godhead, One in Three,

so may Thou visit us as we now worship Thee; and lead us on Thy way, That we at last may see

the light wherein Thou dwellest aye.

SECOND LESSON Romans 9:1-5

1 I am speaking the truth in Christ—I am not lying; my conscience confirms it by the Holy Spirit— 2I have great sorrow and unceasing anguish in my heart. 3For I could wish that I myself were accursed and cut off from Christ for the sake of my own people, my kindred according to the flesh. 4They are Israelites, and to them belong the adoption, the glory, the covenants, the giving of the law, the worship, and the promises; 5to them belong the patriarchs, and from them, according to the flesh, comes the Messiah, who is over all, God blessed forever. Amen.

INVITATION TO THE OFFERING

PRAYER OF DEDICATION

EUCHARIST

INVITATION TO THE LORD’S TABLE

GREAT THANKSGIVING

The Lord be with you. And also with you. Lift up your hearts. We lift them to the Lord. Let us give thanks to the Lord our God. It is right to give our thanks and praise. The prayer continues…

LORD’S PRAYER

Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name, thy kingdom come, thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread; and forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors; and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, forever. Amen.

BREAKING OF THE BREAD

COMMUNION

PRAYER AFTER COMMUNION

For the healing you have given us in the brokenness of bread and the pouring out of cup, we thank you. For the community you have restored in us through the sharing of life, we thank you. Send us forth from this place in love, letting justice be worked out with gentleness and power known in the presence of your Spirit. Amen.
