A Message from Mark Robinson, our new Chancel Choir director:
Dear FBC members and friends!
I have gratefully accepted the position of
Chancel Choir Director at First Baptist
Church. I am looking forward to the bless-
ing of working with the choir and would like
to invite any adult music lover who has a de-
sire to contribute to the spiritual life of First Baptist through music to join with us on
September 2 at 7:30 p.m.
The Chancel Choir needs to be a reflection of the congregation at large, both demo-
graphically and musically. It is my hope that, through prayerful study, the choir will
present quality music of many different styles that will enrich the worship of the con-
gregation as well as the choir. Join us on September 2 and enjoy the musical fellow-
ship.
God Bless!

And we welcome Melissa Lumpkin as our
new Intern for Children’s Formation! Melissa comes to Kansas through the soaring pine trees and
spicy Cajun food of her native home Louisiana. Melissa
brings her husband, Mike, a proud Virginian, and two ener-
getic children, Kaitlyn and Aedyn. While earning her Mas-
ter's of Divinity at Wake Forest University Divinity School, Melissa met Mike through a
classmate, Mike's twin brother. Melissa has children and youth ministry experience
hailing from North Carolina and Texas and continues to work with children in the
Lawrence school district as a para educator. In her spare time, Melissa enjoys reading
fantasy fiction, crafting and her new hobby gardening.
