Introduction
The vestibular, auditory, and visual systems are keys for organizing sensory input.
Together these key systems provide us with our sense of self in time and space. A solid
understanding of our body in space provides the core foundation for both skill and
emotional regulation.
This course will examine the neurodevelopmental aspects of the vestibular/ proprioceptive
systems and their resultant links with the visual and auditory systems. Participants will
learn the critical components of each system, their unique and complimentary
contributions to sensory processing development of postural occular skills, bilateral
integration, and praxis. A wide range of practical intervention strategies will be revealed
through hands-on movement labs and discussion of video samples.

Introduction
This two-day experiential workshop provides therapist with an in-depth understanding of
the developmental and neurophysiological links between sensory integration and the basic
primary movement patterns that provide the foundation (or building blocks) for sensory
modulation and integration.

document and treat the movement challenges that arise from the lack of effective sensory
motor integration.

Ms Sheila M. Frick (ORT) is an internationally esteemed clinician, lecturer, and pioneer in
Occupational Therapy. She has over 20 years clinical experience, having worked in psychiatry,
rehabilitation and home health before specializing in paediatrics. She is well known in the field
of Sensory Integration, lecturing on such topics as clinical neurology, respiration, the
auditory/vestibular system and auditory interventions. Sheila’s expertise is reflected in her
publications as well as her proficiency in training professionals throughout the United States
and abroad.
